Beck thinks Sarah is preparing for 3rd party run

Glenn Beck told Bill O'Reilly on The Factor that he thinks Sarah Palin is gearing up for a third party run:

We don't think so. We think she wants to take the party back from the Vichy Republicans just like Ronald Reagan did 30 years ago (Back then they were called Rockerfeller Republicans). Of course, returning the GOP to its Reagan roots and making it actually live by the principles spelled out in its platform depends on the Republicans inside the Beltway getting a clue, and so far they are clueless. Time will tell.

  1. I think Glenn is sincere in his professed disdain for both parties. I think he'd stop supporting Sarah Palin immediately if she made it clear that her plan is to do as you suggest. Glenn Beck's plan for America is not going to be America's future because his plan for America is a future without the Republican party, in my opinion. He is a cynic on many topics and the Republican party is one of those things he is cynical about. Having been active in the party, I know that the party can change virtually overnight depending on how many people are willing to step up to the plate and work within it to change it. It can be a vehicle, in other words. Palin brought in $18 million almost immediately when she was announced as the VP pick. To abandon the GOP would be a choice to abandon a lot of cash. Let's take the party back, I say..........but believe me when I say that I will only be willing to do that behind Sarah Palin. If she goes third party, so do I. Period.

  2. My first post here. I agree with Josh - all her words and actions over the past few months don't point to a third party run, even a run in the near future at all.

I think her goal is to bring as many conservatives politicians and like-minded supporters into the Republican Party and organize them into a movement with teeth. Whatever comes of that in the future she will worry about later. And her status now is ideally situated to spearheading a grassroots movement, so I say she is exactly where she should be.

  3. If Sarah runs as an independent, will the Republicans be smart enough to not run anyone?

  4. If Palin wants to, she could use brace knuckle politics against the GOP come 2012. She could threaten them that if she doesn't get the support of the party in the Republican Primaries, she'll run third party in the general.

  5. A third party is nonsense. We already have a party. It is called the Republican Party which has been hijacked. I really love Beck but He has to get that out of his system. That will destroy what we have been rebuilding. I know Beck is smart enough to know that. He is one of the most intelligent men I know.

  6. JTKell, Beck is not nearly one of the most intelligent people I know.

  7. Lisa, Your post is great and rite on the money until the last sentence. I would support Sarah to the end of time although after reading your post I would bet that you know there is not a person in the US that could win a National election on a third party ticket. That would split the conservative,Republican and independent voters and allow the Dems to win.
