James Taranto at WSJ's Best of the Web Today:
"A Salon.com piece... by Taffy Brodesser-Akner titled 'I Can't Believe My Best Friend Is a Republican'... Taffy and Janet became friends, and they've stayed pals even though Taffy sounds like a pain in the neck. Just recently, Taffy 'wandered over to [Janet's] house, unable to look her in the eye,' and demanded an explanation for a congressional vote to defund Planned Parenthood. Janet patiently explained her position. Taffy 'closed my eyes and breathed through what she was saying.' She reminded herself that Janet 'believes what she's telling me, and she's studied the issues,' unlike those insincere ignoramuses Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck. 'She has the same education as I have, and yet she has made different decisions, decisions that are so counter to what I believe. Decisions I find abhorrent.' ... It's a fascinating psychological struggle. Taffy is torn between the angel on one shoulder urging her to value Janet and respect her point of view, and the devil on the other shoulder encouraging her to 'think again about how deep our differences run, mine and Janet's, and... wonder if this is all worth it.' The angel represents the spirit of open-minded toleration. The devil represents contemporary liberalism. That they are pulling Taffy in opposite directions tells you all you need to know about what liberalism has become."Howard Portnoy at Hot Air's Green Room:
"So Tina Fey, in Garofalo’s world, was a victim of 'cultural hostility toward women' whereas [Sarah Palin] the butt of her cruel mockery — which precipitated the anger toward her — is not?"Bill McAllister, former Palin Communications Director:
"He should be fired, frankly. I can’t believe [the] university is going to let some idiot present a paper [like this... I had never even heard a rumor [about this] until she was chosen by McCain, then that weekend all kinds of sh_t came out that no one had heard before... The burden of proof ought to be on him. He said I attempted to pull a hoax on the American Public. He should have to prove that."Jedediah Bila via Twitter:
"MSM obsession w/ Bristol Palin's income is incredible. And yet, so few of them salute her for her commitment to promoting a positive message."Whitney Pitcher at Big Government:
"Governor Palin’s key legislative victory, Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share (ACES), has been a transparent, constitutionally-based, pro-growth success... A bill that would alter the ACES tax structure (HB 110) was passed by the House last week... The proponents of this bill have a history of engaging in crony capitalism, corruption, and unethical behavior... These are the very things that Governor Palin has fought against her entire political career. Governor Palin has called out the unethical behavior of Alaska GOP chair Randy Ruedrich when she was an oil and gas commissioner. She implemented corruption free ACES project that was passed in a transparent manner without the outside influence of oil companies. She championed the AGIA pipeline project that was negotiated in a transparent manner. She has called out the Obama administration on their pervasive crony capitalism. Should she run for President in the future, there’s no doubt she would continue to strive to rid government of corruption; stop the revolving doors between the private sector, lobbying, and government; and end the behind-closed-doors negotiations that have been pervasive for years in Washington."John Smithson at Meet Sarah Palin:
"Not much news about Sarah. Here is why... Obama and the Dems are busy making fools of themselves, that's why."Charlie Gasparino via Palin TV:
"Where are the Republican presidential contenders? Where is Mitt Romney... Here's a guy who's been running for six years... You would think he would have some semblance of a growth agenda and have some opinion on what Paul Ryan has done... Where is Tim Pawlenty? Where is Newt Gingrich? Where are all the rest of them? The only one who stepped up to the plate, is Sarah Palin. I mean she gave the most forceful, positive comment on this."Pat R via Twitter:
"14000 votes found gives [Prosser] a 7500 lead #blamepalin"M. Joseph Sheppard at A Point of View:
"The left media are doing all they can to conjure up a 'Palin/Bachman feud' where none exists, in an obvious attempt to further nullify Palin by using Bachman as their foil. On the other hand the propelling of Trump and Bachman into such prominence has served, contrary to [media] expectations no doubt, to assist Palin... The only purpose they have served is to show Palin, by contrast, to be the most tempered by media fire, sensible candidate who has the best chance of actually entering into a dialogue with the president during a campaign, as all the media diversions against her have been well canvassed. "Fox News Poll: Palin Leads Among Tea Partiers and It’s Pretty Much Tied Among All Republicans..."Fay at Sarah Palin Information Blog:
"Hearts are atwitter in Palin land as we wait for the big announcement – which we’re pretty sure will come by the summer. Governor Palin’s hints have gotten increasingly broader... While we wait, we thought we’d have some fun with a poll to see when our readers think Governor Palin will make her announcement. Will it be April, May, June, or July? At one of her scheduled events or in between? Select the date in the poll you think Governor Palin is most likely to announce."Tony Lee via Twitter:
"Very Funny from CA friend--she said at noon: "like an earthquake, I can tell when a Palin FB post is ready to drop..." #BOOM...on cue LOL"Wanumba at Sonoran Alliance:
"Governor Sarah Palin just articulated a major global security issue that no one else has raised, yet should have: Barack Obama publically announcing he won’t pay our troops in order to hold them hostage to keep Republicans from repairing the national damage from the last Congress’s horrific spending spree that has exploded our national debt... Sarah Palin caught it. Where are the other voices?"John Nolte via Twitter:
"Apparently @SarahPalinUSA is the only potential 2012 GOP candidate wanting to stand firm on the budget..."Shane Vander Hart at Caffeinated Thoughts:
"Well it would seem that Republicans in Congress blinked agreeing to a last minute deal where they compromised everything and Democrats gave nothing... Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) mentioned that this didn’t even include defunding Obamacare. She said that this was a 'small ball' battle, and not worth the fight. I disagree. If Republican leadership caves here what possible confidence do we have that they won’t cave in a big battle? ... Former Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR) blinked as well... We cave… so we can be ready to fight another day… utter nonsense. Fight now. I agree with Governor Palin who tweeted twice… 'GOP: don’t retreat! The country is going broke. We can’t AFFORD cowboy poetry & subsidizing abortion. If we can’t fight to defund this nonsense now when we have the chance, do you think we’ll win the big fight on entitlement reform later on?'"- JP
