Simmons: Does Sarah Palin need more security?

*
A recent video shows Sarah Palin, accompanied only by her husband Todd, being approached by a man with a video camera in an airport. The man was able to get himself in very close physical proximity to the former GOP vice presidential candidate. There are a number of anti-Palin moonbat websites solely devoted to smearing and spreading their filthy lies about Sarah Palin and her family. She has been on the receiving end of real death threats via the web. Robert Simmons at American Thinker poses the question, "Does Sarah Palin need more security?"
The left's obsession with Palin borders on something clinically scary and many have called for her death in YouTube comments, blog posts and so on. Even some prominent leftists have openly wished for Sarah Palin's death in public such as Kieth Halloran (D) of New Hampshire. The obsession even goes so far as having several people wish for Alaska's Secession, in Newsweek's ridiculous "thought experiment", from the union so long as Sarah Palin goes with them.

Finally in a recent radio show, Glenn Beck told a story of a Sarah Palin that casually walked out of airports and into public streets like she was just another citizen. Beck told of his driver asking Glenn to please ask Sarah Palin to wait for him and not just walk out into public alone.

It's clear that Sarah Palin is confident in her ability to handle the media and enjoys meeting the public, but politicians have been injured or killed before by such unhinged opponents. The amount of obsessive rage being directed at Palin by the left is enough to warrant caution, perhaps the hiring of a bodyguard or two, no disrespect to Todd. In addition to Palin being one of the best chances for defeating Obama and his socialist allies, America needs honest and patriotic politicians like the Palins. America also needs the left to continue to expose their vile hatred of Palin and her children personally to shine a spotlight on just what the left is all about.
Simmons is not the first to express concern over the governor's safety. We realize that Todd Palin is very protective of his wife, and we have no doubt that he will do everything within his power to defend her against those who may want to do harm to her. We also understand that Sarah Palin is one of us, and she thrives on being able to freely engage with everyday people everywhere she goes.

Still, Simmons has a point. There are just too many loons and goons on the left out there with a proclivity for violence. One of these idiots threw tomatoes at the governor while she was at a stop on her book tour. He was so inept that he only succeeded in hitting two police officers instead of his intended target, and he was arrested. At another book signing event, an unhinged moonbat threw eggs at a display of Gov. Palin's books, and said, "Sorry, I missed you, Sarah!"

How much of a leap is it in the minds of deranged and violent leftist thugs from throwing relatively harmless objects at the object of their hatred to doing something which has more serious consequences? We certainly don't want to sound like alarmists, but please, governor, ramp up your security team and use it all the time, even in relatively "safe" places close to home like Valdez, Alaska. We know that we're echoing the wishes of many of those who support you. We all care about you very much and pray for you and your family every day. Please do it just to humor your millions of supporters, if for no other reason.

  2. I was very, very surprised (and concerned) when I saw that video. This is a no-brainer. Sarah may very well be a candidate for President one day; her close advisers need to realize this and strive to protect her.

  3. One of the challenges is to get Sarah to feel comfortable with it. Having any kind of staff, including security is not in MO. She does not exagerate when she places her life in Gods hands. Like all of us who love her, I too want her protected, but even security is no guarantee. (I promise not to site history). Our best option is to try ourselves to always be watchful for her when we are in a public place with her. One of the things I learned from watching the video was that we citizens can help deflect people like him. Other people could talk to him, cover the camera, get in his face. In short can we try to take a bullet for her, even if it's only eggs or videos. Last of all pray. Pray she will be granted wisdom if security is a good investment - especially for her kids. Pray that His hand, in which she has placed all her trust will also be over her. Pray that we will be guided to be protectors of our friend Sarah so she may finish the job He has for her.
