Television station KY3 (KYTV) reports that the line started forming outside Borders Books in the southwest Missouri city of Springfield at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon for Sarah Palin's 10 AM Wednesday book signing event at the store:
The people in line braved a cool December night to be among the first to grab just a few moments face-to-face with the most compelling figure in the conservative movement. Borders employees have been planning the visit for weeks. Some of those at the front of the queue came from out of state, including Bob Runtz of Huntsville, Arkansas and Nicole Coulter, who travelled from Wichita, Kansas:
"Her bus will come to the front, park in front. Hopefully, she'll say a few things and then maybe shake a few hands as she comes in the store. And she'll get right to the signing table," said Borders manager Gary Selby.
Thousands are expected but it's estimated that just 400 to 500 people will make it through the winding line.
"I liked her before it was cool to like her," Coulter said.Springfield will be former Gov. Palin's only book signing stop of the day. she will deliver an address Wednesday night at College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO.

Update: The News-Leader reports that Sarah Palin stayed an extra hour at the bookstore to sign books for all of those who were in the queue.
