AP downplayed size of Sarah Palin's Tempe crowd

The Associated Press report on Sarah Palin's book signing event in Tempe, Arizona severely underestimated the size of the crowd lined up to see the former Alaska governor. The state newspaper, The Arizona Republic, actually had a reporter on the scene and puts the crowd's size at "at least a thousand", while the AP said that "hundreds" were waiting in line. We're more inclined to believe the numbers supplied by someone who was actually there rather than the truth-challenged, notoriously anti-Palin AP. Here's an excerpt from the Republic's story:
The late Johnny Horton's voice sang "North to Alaska" through loudspeakers at Costco in Tempe while a least a thousand people waited in line for the arrival of former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Then her fans heard "Barracuda" by the rock band Heart, and Shania Twain's "She's Not Just a Pretty Face."

Suddenly Palin walked in, carrying her baby, Trig, and the crowd waved and cheered, "Hi, Sarah!"

Finally she was shaking hands, smiling and autographing copies of her book, "Going Rogue."

The first man in line waited more than 26 hours to spend a few seconds with Palin. Drew Sweatte of Palm Springs, Calif., arrived at 8 a.m. Monday and later spent the entire night outside.

"It's my birthday present to myself," said Sweatte, who turned 23 on Tuesday.

  1. Huck’s a schmuck- with his Dukakis moment this week, he’s done for 2012

Mitt is in a political hole with conservatives for his failed Massachessets HC plan that’s hardly any better than Obama’s… and a pitiful response to NY-23’s special election drama (if there was ANY response, I sure don’t recall it).

Meanwhile, the Arctic Fox’s book is #1 while crowds swell at her signings… and a poll now shows her vs Obama’s approval numbers closed within the margin of error… I think we all can see where this is headed

  2. I looked up articles about Hillary Clinton's book tour in 2002. Amazingly enough, whenever Hillary's crowds were even slightly ove 1,000, according to the body of the story, the headline said "thousands," and if the crowd was under 1,000 the headline said it was 1,000. When it comes to liberals, the headline writers always round upward, for Palin they round downwards.

BTW, from the pictures I've seen of Hillary's book signing crowds, as well as 0bama's, almost everyone in the pictures were white, yet no mention of that fact is ever made in the article. Both Hillary and 0bama's tours took them to big democrat population centers, none were in small Southern towns for example, yet that fact is never mentioned in the articles either.
