Do you think we talk to each other anymore or do we simply take sides and hurl insults?Poor Greta seems to be experiencing first hand the hateful, 'tolerant' left. She needs to understand that the libs are becoming even more rabid than is their norm because their world is falling apart. Their messiah-president is a huge disappointment, and he is being rejected by an ever increasing number of Americans, especially independent voters. Likewise, the Pelosi-Reid congress has sunk to an approval rating of only 11 percent.
I am just returning from Alaska, ANWR, and Valdez....and I am pretty tired (I flew the red eye and right now I have a three hour layover ) and I just got yelled at by someone for the reporting we did. We are not finished with our reporting on the issue of drilling (it is a series all week and thus the yelling might be premature) but how are we ever going to work out issues if we simply fire shots and insults at each other?
There are no easy answers to many questions we face as a nation but a good start is looking at facts and then talking. Of course there will never be 100 per cent agreement but at least with talk - rather than firing insults - we have a greater chance of developing solutions to whatever problem we are confronting. Some times when you actually talk that person is persuaded by your argument. Sometimes when you speak to someone you discover that you might be wrong.
Leftists tend to forget that they are a very small minority in this country. Less than a third of all Americans self-identify as liberal. But in their very insular world, they tend to only interact with others of their same political stripe and think that most people believe as they do, only because most people in their inner circle believe as they do. It's a shock to them when they are confronted with their failure to sell their radical leftist agenda to a significant portion of their countrymen. The more this harsh reality dawns upon them, the more viciously they lash out.
Recent history shows that the American voters, when they become disenchanted with the fake conservatives of the Lite wing of the Republican Party, are willing to give the Democrats a chance. Obama, like Jimmy Carter before him, overreached with a liberal agenda which horrified voters who quickly rejected this agenda when they saw how it was hurting the country. Bill Clinton was politically astute enough to tack back toward the center when it happened to him, and he was rewarded with a second term.
But Obama, Pelosi and Reid have ignored all of the warning signs and have continued to push the radical leftist agenda. That it is being wholeheartedly rejected by a clear majority of Americans angers the leftists to no end. And they vent their frustration on anyone who dares to present a view different from their own, or anyone who is even willing to listen to a presentation of the opposing view. Greta, a longtime Democrat and Clinton supporter, has become a target of the left's venom simply because she was willing to look at the evidence and let Todd and Sarah Palin present their case.
Yes, Greta, it's come to this.

JP - excellent post! I did not know Greta was a long-time Democrat, but that revelation explains much to me. I had simply considered her "reasonable" in the face of the obvious evil of the far Left. All things considered, perhaps this will turn out to be a blessing if she is able to finally confront that the rhetoric never matches the doingness.
