In The Battle Over Sarah Palin, Character Trumps All

*
There's an outstanding post by Francis Porretto at Eternity Road. It earns our "highly recommended" stamp of approval. Here's are some significant snippets:
Sarah Palin has established herself as a woman of sound character, an effective corruption fighter, a capable administrator, and a good negotiator on her constituents' behalf.

[...]

But what is most significant about Palin's emergence and the excitement she's generated is the vitriol level attained by those who dislike her. Not even Ronald Reagan, arguably the most important conservative politician of the Twentieth Century, elicited so much stridency in opposition.

[...]

Is Sarah Palin the perfect conservative? By no means, though she's certainly preferable to many in the public eye who call themselves conservatives, yet are ready and willing to expand the State when the opportunity arises. But what shines out from her most strongly is her genuine, utterly sincere goodness -- her strength of character. That's what gets the crowds to her book signings and occasional speaking appearances.

[...]

The Left fears Sarah Palin because character cannot be faked. It can sometimes be obscured by a propaganda campaign such as they've mounted against her, but such a thrust can be countered in exactly the way Palin has undertaken: going directly to the American people, just as Ronald Reagan did.

[...]

May God bless Sarah Heath Palin, protect her and her family from the malice of her enemies, and preserve her in goodness until she can rise to the helm of our nation. We need her desperately.
