SATIRE: AP Reporting from Wasilla

- By Warner Todd Huston

We just received in our email box the Associated Press working files on the following story...

Palin's Daughter Arrested in Wasilla for Dangerous Drunk Driving

(AP) WASILLA, ALASKA — The daughter of failed Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was arrested Thursday in Wasilla for driving drunk.

Bristol Palin, 19, was stopped by officers at about 12:40 a.m. and booked after rude behavior at the Wasilla police station for driving under the influence.

She was held for about five hours and released at about 5:30 a.m. after posting $5,000 bail, officials said.

Bristol Palin is the eldest daughter of failed Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and could be responsible for the loss of Republican John McCain's bid for president in 2006. After it was discovered she was pregnant out of wedlock, the doomed Palin GOP bid for vice president suffered repeated scandals. Governor Palin was thought to have been a book banner in Wasilla and it was reported that her son, Trig, was really Bristol's child.

The hypocrisy of the Palin campai....

Wait...

This just in....

Hold on, new facts have come to light. To our newspaper customers, please ignore the last story and substitute this one:

Sen. Kerry's innocent daughter arrested in LA on DUI

(AP) LOS ANGELES — The daughter of Sen. John Kerry was arrested Thursday in Hollywood for allegedly driving drunk.

Alexandra Kerry, 36, was stopped by officers at about 12:40 a.m. and booked at the Hollywood police station for investigation of driving under the influence, Officer April Harding said.

She was held for about five hours and released at about 5:30 a.m. after posting $5,000 bail, Harding said.

She had no other details but we are sure that John Kerry's daughter is wholly innocent of these scurrilous charges.

That is all. End Satire.

McLEAN, Va. -- The wife of Sen. Dick Lugar, R-Ind., was arrested in Virginia on Wednesday night on drunken driving and hit-and-run charges after she crashed into a parked car, police said.
Police arrested Charlene Lugar, 76, Wednesday near her home in McLean, Va., after an officer stopped her because he saw damage to the car and smoke coming from the hood.
Police later determined that she also hit an unattended parked car about two miles away from the traffic stop. Both charges are misdemeanors.

  2. It might be wise to note, in bold, that everything about Bristol is false and just satire. If not the odds of others quoting it as true and using the photo are about 100%.

  3. Ummm I don't like this post it almost gave me a heart attack that it really happened. I had to read it like five times because as soon as I saw the title I freaked out. I think u should take it down because it is kind of mean to put that picture of Bristil up. Just my two cents after already hearing bad news about the Gov tonight on her facebook page about a lot of people in Indiana are not happy because they didn't get their book signed.

  4. Nice getting the jump on the so-called LMS (lame stream media) with the satire. You are entirely correct, this is how the AP and others write stories... cause problems if you can, if you can't make it up!

Most likely someone will post it as 'true', and we can say, we saw it here first!

footballchik1 .. I held my breath even though it does say 'Satire', until I made it through the entire post.

When I saw the lines of folks wanting a signed book I wondered how Sarah would be able to do all those books in the short time she has at each stop. I think most people understand the time constraints due to her schedule. I've not heard any complaints :)

  5. Josh - I agree with the others here. This is not an appropriate post. I know its satire, but I'm sure Bristol would rather not be used in this way to make a point. I think she would just like to be left alone - by all sides in the debate. I don't think Sarah would appreciate it either - especially the photoshoped picture of Bristol. Please don't take offense to these comments - you have done a tremendous job supporting the Palin family.

  6. I agree that this post should be taken down. I don't think Governor Palin nor Todd nor Bristol would be amused with this.

  7. This post should be removed. It should not have been posted.

It is disrespectful to Bristol, Tripp, Sarah, Todd, Track, Willow, Piper, and Trig.

Bristol has taken enough abuse, without being used, yes used, in attempted "humor" or "satire."

The point could have been made without naming any individual.

No individual deserved to be falsely portrayed as you did Bristol.

Any person named in this comment who sees your post has every reason to be outraged.

You meant well, but made a bad mistake.

  10. (Reposted for spelling error) I warned you that people would not get that this was an attack on the media, Josh! I warned you that they would think I was actually attacking the Palins. Unfortunately, for all it's outrageousness, this post was too subtle for some.
