More Quote of the Day Honorable Mentions, Part 9

*
More monster quotes...

Jim Geraghty:
"Palin is breaking another rule, the one that says you have to be in elected office to influence the political world. Any event she attends instantly sells out and is guaranteed massive media coverage. She reset the terms of debate in the health-care fight with the phrase 'death panels.' We can put a dollar amount on what Sarah’s blessing is worth to a little-known candidate: In the first 24 hours after her endorsement, Doug Hoffman’s congressional campaign in upstate New York took in $116,000, mostly in small donations. What’s more, Palin set off a stampede of additional endorsements and attention for Hoffman."
Paul Smith:
"Palin complains that Steve Schmidt told her what to eat, say and dress... But if you put Palin and chain smoking and rotund Steve Schmidt next to each other, Steve needs to look in the mirror before dishing out information on dieting and nutrition. McCain and Schmidt lost the race and have been trying to convince the rest of us it was Palin’s fault to cover their a**es and I for one have had enough with their antics."
Michelle Malkin:
"The dregs at MSNBC tried and failed to get away with faked photos of a sexualized Sarah Palin. Newsweek’s weasels found a way to evade responsibility for their rank sexism by using a photo of a real Palin doll in schoolgirl regalia... And no, it isn’t “playing the victim” to expose their bigotry. It’s calling them out."
The Weekly Standard Scrapbook:
"The last time un-identified aides and officials were attacking Palin in the media was in the waning days of the losing campaign and afterwards... But now, a year later, you'd think these 'officials' would step forward boldly and speak in their own name. Why do they hide? Simple reason: their zingers failed and Palin has become a formidable political figure with a nationwide following, a sought-after speaker, a bestselling author, and a potential candidate for president in 2012. In contrast, her critics -- insiders know who they are -- are toxic. All they've got is their anonymity."
Amy Siskind:
"Sure our media is having one heck of a time turning Sarah Palin into a modern day Sarah Good; but at some point there will be period of examination and discovery. A mea culpa of having stepped over lines whose consequence will be a judgment of keystrokes. As as Sarah Good’s final words words to her accuser would predict his demise; so to, will this extreme come to an end. And the unwitting winner of the sympathy vote will be: Sarah Palin."
Matthew Archbold:
"With liberals, it's always personal... Juan Williams attempts to elevate the debate by saying 'Let's look at the record' and then proceeds to accuse Sarah of being 'self centered' and a bad mother. I'll give him credit though because Juan was able to scream about actual political stuff for about ten seconds seconds before getting personal against Sarah which is a record for liberals."
Rush Limbaugh:
"Brooks even writes about the crease in Obama's slacks and how he's impressed by that... Beltway Republicans, the wizards of smart... have been running things, they have slowly lost Republican political power, so they are afraid of their own jobs and credibility if somebody like Palin, with her conservative viewpoint rises. I have to tell you, the reason why Palin's being hit here is not because she's Palin, it's because she's conservative. She is the most conservative of... all the Republican public figures that might be in politics, she is by far the most conservative and everybody's threatened by that."
Mary Katharine Ham:
"The thoughtlessness of these critics, who never see the irony in attacking Palin's alleged anti-intellectualism using debunked doctored photos of the governor in a bikini, is crystallized in Ana Marie Cox's review of Sarah Palin's Going Rogue today. It is perhaps overly generous to call the Washington Post piece a review. It reads like an off-the-cuff e-mail to a friend with very low standards in e-mail correspondence... It's a Washington Post book review, for goodness' sake, not a note you pass in between classes before that book report you totz didn't prepare for. In the print version of the article, Cox is introduced as a national correspondent for Air America who has described Palin as 'crazypants with arrogant sauce on top,' right before she criticizes Palin's take on campaign strategy as unsophisticated."
ProfessorBainbridge:
"Andrew Sullivan's fixation with Sarah Palin is morphing from an idee fixe to meshugaas."
Leslie Sanchez:
"Palin will continue to be a force in U.S. politics because she addresses the anxieties and aspirations of blue-collar America in a way that connects... History dictates that her short run on the national ticket places her at the front of the GOP pack. It also partially explains the low-brow attacks from fellow Republicans who are jockeying to push down her viability for the sake of other allegiances."
Dan Calabrese:
"Media, have you looked at yourselves? You are obsessed with this woman. You apparently hate her guts, but you do so in a so-hideous-we-can’t-look-away sort of fashion. You keep telling us that she’s dumb, shallow, unqualified, erratic and incompetent. Yet. You. Keep. Talking. About Her. You never stop. You are in love with her... It’s kind of cute, but it’s really pretty pathetic. Especially since you know, deep down, that she’s just not that into you."
The Ignorant Fishermen:
"The Left and its State-Run Media Minions are now extremely busy trying to discredit Palin and have set up an unparalleled smear campaign to derail any 2012 presidential run.... The New Tone destroyed Bush and weakened the Republican Party so to strip it of any power. This destructive and slanderous tactic worked so well against GWB that the Left is now applying the same politics of personal destruction against Sarah Palin. Although with Palin, the Left have a fight on their hands and they know it."
Robert Stacy McCain:
"There seems to be a media competition at work, a sort of championship tournament. Every reporter, anchor, and pundit in America is engaged in a frantic effort to be the hero who fires the silver bullet that slays the Republican werewolf from Wasilla... The result of this constant Palin-bashing is exactly the opposite of what the bashers intend. Possessing an amazing ability to enrage liberals, she causes them to expose their own nuttiness, as when Andrew Sullivan -- Patient Zero of the Palin Derangement Syndrome media pandemic -- accused her of being 'obsessed' with him."
Jennifer Rubin:
"My, it seems there is a group of the unhinged marauding around the political landscape. But it’s rather apparent that it isn’t the “Palin Movement.” (Does she have a movement all to herself?) Whatever you think of Palin, you do have to marvel at the frenzied antagonism she induces in her critics. And yes, that’s worth looking into as a political and social phenomenon — and, as people like [Richard] Cohen’s colleague Kathleen Parker (another victim of Palin-induced rage) remind us, we really are short on civility these days."
Dan Riehl:
"Democrat operatives across America have been spotted hunched over keyboards and digital devices foaming at the mouth while trying to circulate poorly sourced rumors about Sarah Palin in between texting their GP's to refill prescriptions for anti-depressants and, or anxiety inhibitors in bulk... Sounds to me like Going Rogue is already a hit! America may never be the same, and certainly the Democrats won't be. Whatever has gotten into those people? It's only a book by a mostly irrelevant private citizen, right? Yeah, right. They fear her, Lord how they fear that woman. It's amazing to watch. And hilarious, too!"

  1. Just wait until HarperCollins' announcement that they are increasing their press run for Going Rogue to 2.5 million. We may witness some of these demented folks actually jumping out of windows. Andrea Mitchell tries to ambush Palin at a book signing, and Norah O'Donnell, complete with ready notes, bravely takes on a teenager, and gets bested by the spunky 17 year old. What does O'Donnell do, tweets about all the haters out there, and then lies by saying the the 17 year old voted in the last election so was really not a kid at all.

I swear, I've never seen such a mass psychosis in operation before, it's more than a bit scary.
