Sarah Palin closing in on a million books sold

The Associated Press is reporting that Sarah Palin's Going Rogue sold 700,000 copies in the first week after its release.

That figure comes from an unidentified "publishing official close to the former Alaska governor." The anonymous source asked not to be identified, AP says, because he or she is not authorized to release the sales data. The 700,000 figure supposedly include pre-orders.

  1. In 2002 Hillary set a record for a non-fiction book of 200,000 sold on the first day, and 1 million in the first month. After that sales fell dramatically, matter of fact, her book was down to #7 on Amazon before the end of the 2nd week. Her publisher ran another 300,000 copies, bringing total to 1.3 million. Total sales was about 1.2 million. Bill Clinton's book broke Hillary's record, selling about 1.4 million since 2004. If 700,000 copies of Going Rogue have been sold already, Palin is well on the way to shattering Bill's record quite handily. We are coming up on Black Friday weekend, and I suspect sales will be very high, and will probably exceed 1 million by next Monday. Going Rogue is still #1 at BN, Amazon, Borders, Books a Million, and WalMart.
