More Quote of the Day Honorable Mentions, Part 20

See BS Bullschmidt Edition...

Meghan Stapleton:
"The Governor's descriptions of these events are found in her book, 'Going Rogue.' Her descriptions are accurate. She was there. These reporters were not."
Lame Cherry:
"These are the panting revelations of propagandists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin in Gamer Obama, their new book. One notices in this book that Obama does not exist... What is notable is this book is designed as a 2012 smear against Gov. Sarah Palin...Yet there is this Rhino Steve Schmidt, the Obama spy in the McCain camp, who keeps appearing telling the world the sun sets in the east, water is on fire, and Gov. Palin was not prepared."
John Ziegler:
"Quite simply... this was the worst piece of 'journalism' I have ever witnessed on 60 Minutes."
Don Aldridge:
"Let me get this straight. Is Schmidt saying that as head of McCain Campaign day-to-day operations he didn’t properly vet Palin? Or is he saying that he knew the Governor was unqualified but didn’t say anything before McCain chose her? Or is it simply that he wasn’t loyal to McCain in the first place and wanted him to fail? ...Or could it be that Steve Schmidt, as an active proponent of gay marriage, finds himself at odds with the Governor’s core beliefs? Could it be that he is a caustic critic of conservative Christian ideology? Just who isn’t being honest here? Whatever his answer – and it must be one or all of the above – Steve Schmidt has shown himself to be, at the very least, unethical and untrustworthy to any candidate that would seek his services in the future."
Kyle Drennen:
"While a story on Sunday’s 60 Minutes about the new book, ‘Game Change,’ about the 2008 campaign, focused heavily on attacks against Sarah Palin by McCain staffers, it ignored numerous revelations of controversial statements by prominent Democrats..."
Recovering Liberal:
"Not only is Palin untruthful, an ignoramus, divisive (amongst a myriad of other faults) but she is apparently mentally unstable... This now makes voting easy, no one of the female gender is by fact of birth suitable for public, especially high, office... We can now deny any woman high office, removing the danger of the concomitant 3:00 a.m. call (might be menstruating) diplomacy (time of the month) and heaven forbid, the nuclear codes (might be having irrational mood swings, or worse, be in a 'catatonic stupor.)'"
Jim Hoft:
"What a complete jerk... Go away, Steve Schmidt."
Matt Lewis:
"Once upon a time there was an unwritten rule in politics: When you go to work on a campaign – especially when you serve in the capacity of campaign manager – you are essentially like a lawyer or doctor... Today, a new ethos has arisen: cash in, write a book, trash other people's books, cover your own backside, even at the expense of your ex-candidate. Unfortunately, this is the school Schmidt has enrolled in."
Fishersville Mike:
"If Palin was so unprepared to be vice president, why did McCain and his campaign select her? Because they were unprepared... A campaign focused on a possible bad decision tries to blame Sarah Palin for being Sarah Palin. It's time to move on."
Don Surber:
"The Associated Press buried its lead in its story on the latest Game Change book revelation about Sarah Palin. It came from her nemesis, Steve Schmidt. In the Last Paragraph in the story, the Associated Press reported: 'Schmidt conceded that had Palin not been on the ticket, ‘our margin of defeat would’ve been greater than it would’ve been otherwise’.' That is a pretty hot admission by a guy who pretty much opposes Palin and has been seen by many (meaning me) as an opponent of her and a thwarter of her efforts to secure a presidential nomination in 2012. That is a big story. Instead, the Associated Press went with the 'God’s plan' quote from Palin via Schmidt..."
Eric Shawn:
"The segment [on the book Game Change] totally ignored controversial racial comments by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that are quoted in the book. Instead, most of the CBS story was critical of Sarah Palin... The story did not mention Reid calling then-candidate Barack Obama 'light-skinned with no Negro dialect'..."
Dan Riehl:
"The only modest bit of news in all this is that the pathetic Steve Schmidt continues to lack the class and intelligence required to simply shut up... all Schmidt has managed to accomplish with all his blathering is to put every potential national Republican candidate on notice that hiring Schmidt for perhaps anything other than coffee and sandwich fetching, would be an unmitigated disaster dooming them and their campaign to eternal hell across the Republican base."
Elective Decisions:
"'I mean, come on girlfriend,' fired Schmidt. 'Who has that many children and still looks that great? Who, I ask? Every time she went out on stage her hair just shimmered. It’s just not fair. I hate her! I hate her! I hate her! Not to mention the fact that she looks great with a handbag. That b#4&!'"

  1. I got the impression from Going Rogue that Schmidt rather liked her at first. Then he turned sour when Sarah said that she didn't entirely embrace evolution but saw God's hand in and behind creation. (Like many of us, it seems Sarah has a broad view of creation - involving some degree of creationism, intelligent design and evolution, with God behind it all, however it happened). I believe that it is Sarah's spiritual convictions that are mostly behind Schmidt's dislike of her.

Anyway, he burned himself when he essentially threw in the towel on the campaign half way through. At that point McCain should have quietly shuffled him aside and put someone else in charge.

  2. Let this be a lesson to politicians.

ALWAYS build your team with people who believe in your vision and beliefs.

Schmidt is one nutty guy. If he is not married, he for sure is gay if he is mentioning Sarah looking good with a handbag.

Sickening that McCain would populate his team with such trashy people who don't even believe in their efforts.

  4. There's that 'keep your enemies closer'. Perhaps, Sarah should save the other Republicans that trouble by hiring Steve. And then setting him on that Alaskan island to keep a four-year watch on Russia. Pay him in kippered smelts and hand warmers.
