Palin Fundraiser In Clinton Country Cancelled?

*
Shortly after Jason Tolbert's blog reported that Sarah Palin would be in Central Arkansas for a February 16 GOP fundraiser, the source he cited threw up a message that the event had been cancelled. It apparently was to have been a $175 a plate affair at North Little Rock's Verizon Arena.

No word yet on whether the event, which Tolbert said would have raised money for the Republican Party of Arkansas, will be rescheduled.

Update: Tolbert's sources now say that the event is still "in the works, just not finalized."

  1. I think that may potentially be a bit of "jumping the gun" on someone's part. I guess we will see if this event will occur on the first stated date or another.

  2. At this point in electoral history, I wouldn't call it Clinton country, I'd call it Huckabee country.

That's why I think this is so magnificent of the 'Cuda!

Can anyone doubt that if she does run in '12, she will absolutely go after All. 50. States?!! :)

  3. What is interesting here, is that the fundraiser is for the STATE Republican Party of Arkansas. The only other fundraiser she did was recently in Minneapolis for the STATE Republican Party of Minnesota. Most of the money raised by STATE parties is used for Gubenatorial and Legislative races - not national races.

Are we seeing a strategy here where she fundraises for STATE Party associations and individual conservative House, Senate and Gubenatorial candidates only, but refuses to raise money for the national RNC, RNCC and RNSC?

I think this would be an excellent strategy to pursue. The RNC, RNCC and RNSC have done nothing but trash her and be hostile to her, so why should she raise money for them! They will only use her to raise money and then work against her whenever and wherever they can.

By not raising money for the Washington party establishment, she is sending a clear message she has no confidence in them, and retains her outsider status which helps her with the grassroots and Tea Partiers who also dislike the Republican Washington establishment. At the same time by doing extensive funraising for the STATE Parties and individual conservative candidates for national office, she still proves she is a team player for the Party. Also, by earning IOUs with the STATE Party officials and individual Governors, House and Senate members, she is effectively building the infrastructure for her future primary campaign in each state.

It will be interesting to see if she employs this strategy in the months ahead.
