General Palin's Growing Legions

Please allow me to direct your attention to the comprehensive links section on our refernece blog, The Book of Sarah. Scroll down, and you'll see a long list of websites under the heading "Sarah Palin's Praetorian Guard." I've been building this list since the launch of this blog's predecessor. I wanted to recognize those blogs which, though not exclusively devoted to Sarah Palin, have defended her in the face of attacks from various quarters.

The name for the list was inspired by a RedState.com diary from last November titled Sarah Palin’s Praetorian Guard, in which Swamp_Yankee wrote:
"I am a big supporter of Sarah Palin. I don’t subscribe to the cult of personality. She is not my savior. But I do support her and I am defensive about it."

"I defend her because I believe in her skills and politics. I also defend her because I know the politics of personal destruction when I see it. Make no mistake about it; there are influential factions in American that are trying to destroy her. And make no mistake about it; they want to destroy her because they are afraid of her. They are afraid of her toughness, her charisma and her populist appeal. They are afraid of her because she debunks myths about liberalism, feminism and conservatism."

"So I am zealous in my defense of Sarah Palin. And I will engage those that seek to destroy her. Much like the popular Roman Generals had their Praetorian Guards, our star generals should have theirs..."
Gov. Palin is, of course, quite able to defend herself and her family. But as a governor, she doesn't have the time to deal with the onslaught of daily attacks on her, most of them from the left - although there are a few fellow travelers who claim to be on the right taking their shots as well. Enter a growing legion of conservative and libertarian bloggers to do battle with the liars and haters who aim to destroy her. In addition to a core of about fifty or so websites exclusively committed to defending Gov. Palin, there is a much larger legion of more widely-focused bloggers who have defended and supported her. These I call the Sarah Palin Praetorian Guard.

I've been adding websites to The Guard as they come to my attention, and I've noticed how long the list has become. There are at least 250 sites now, and these are just the ones I've found and added to the list. There are many more. Add the 50 Palin blogs, and you've got a growing army of defenders. Please visit, support and encourage as many of these sites as you can. As with any army, the pay ain't so good, but the troops like to know that their efforts have not gone without notice and appreciation.

  1. I've also noticed a big upsurge in the number of sites that put up really spirited defense of Gov. Palin against the media onslaught, and the backstabbers within the GOP.

I just came across Way Up North, and The Freedom Post this morning, which I see you already have listed.

Here is the Seattle Spiritual Examiner, he seems to have a thing for the Gov. as well"
