Has the force struck a harmonic chord? Are the stars and planets aligned? We ask because Allahpundit has written something about Sarah Palin, and we actually agree with it. Though she's said it before, Gov. Palin left no doubt Tuesday night on the bank of the Arkansas River that a third party is not the way to go:
Asked what her advice would be to conservatives as the November elections approach, Palin first lavished praise on the Tea Party movement, calling it "a grand movement" and adding, "I love it because it’s all about the people."Oh, Allah did make one point that illustrated how misinformed he is on matters related to the former Alaska governor:
But she quickly pivoted to the broader question of whether the Tea Party movement might successfully field its own candidates in national elections, and on that point she sounded far from convinced.
"Now the smart thing will be for independents who are such a part of this Tea Party movement to, I guess, kind of start picking a party," Palin said. "Which party reflects how that smaller, smarter government steps to be taken? Which party will best fit you? And then because the Tea Party movement is not a party, and we have a two-party system, they’re going to have to pick a party and run one or the other: ‘R’ or ‘D’."
Palin said that the Republican platform best meshed with the Tea Party’s creed.
Translation: Forget the third-party nonsense. She’s been surprisingly consistent on this point, even with people like Glenn Beck leaning on her; all credit to her for trying to keep the train on the track for the midterms before it derails in Perotville.Actually, were Allah not so ignorant of Sarah Palin, he would understand that she is a Reagan disciple, and Ronaldus Maximus made the case against third parties long ago (1977 here and 1975 here), so the consistency of the Palin position on third parties should come as no surprise. But poor ol' AP is not willing to give the Guv credit for knowing her Reagan essentials.
Moe Lane and Ace also agree on the third party thing, so at least we have cover on the rare agreement with Allah.
