More Quote of the Day Honorable Mentions, Part 30

*
State-run media hysteria Edition...

Rich Galen:
"Here’s how you know, if you are the President of the United States, that things are going in the wrong direction... Sarah Palin’s keynote speech to the Tea Party meeting in Memphis, Tennessee, is covered like your State of the Union Address had been two weeks earlier, leading the chattering class to compare your appearance with that of Gov. Palin. Palin’s speech generated headlines like this in the Nashville Tennessean... Palin: Tea Party Movement is a Call to Action... Over [the] weekend the losing candidate for Vice President was, for all intents and purposes, treated as the political equal of the President of the United States. This, if you are in the political shop at the White House, is not good."
Rush Limbaugh:
"The left is livid over a picture in which she had written some crib notes in the palm of her hand. They were just little reminders of areas to discuss. You know, they used to make fun of Reagan for having index cards to remind himself of where he was going. Of course their guy can't even make sense without a teleprompter, and even with the right words on the teleprompter he still doesn't know how to pronounce them, as in 'corpse-man.' Three times he said 'corpse-man.' So here these spoiled brat, whiny little R-words are sitting there upset that Sarah Palin had some little notes on her hand. Well, Sarah Palin might have the Media Tweak of the Day because she's in a campaign appearance with Rick Perry, the governor of Texas. She has written "Hi, mom" on her palm, as a reminder to say hi to mom. She says, "It's right there." She's holding it up for everybody to see, clapping her hands. The media can see it. These people are so easy to tweak and make fun of, and I'm glad that somebody besides me has learned how to do it, 'cause it just agitates them even further. It just irritates them all the more."
Alex Spillius:
"Just a year ago 'tea party' was, for Americans, a term stuck in history, associated only with the glorious 1773 uprising in Boston. Now it pertains to a movement whose supporters – and their champion Sarah Palin – believe they can deliver another revolution against forces also seeking to ruin the country with high taxes and the big boot of intrusive government... The former vice presidential candidate unerringly taps into America's conservative psyche. She voices – indeed embodies – their fears and anger that the culture of family, church, low taxes and small government is being lost."
Jeff Poor:
"'Back with me is... the talented Eve Ensler,' [Joy] Behar said. 'You know, I must talk about Sarah Palin quickly with you because you do mention her in one monologue in the book. And you say a woman running for U.S. vice president believes in creationism but not global warming. What were you driving at there? May I ask?' Ensler took the global warming opening and ran with it, but probably should have exercised better judgment. She took a shot at Palin's anthropogenic skepticism, either by mistake or by exhibiting a total ignorance of natural disasters, by suggesting Palin look at 'earthquakes and tsunamis' if she needed... evidence."
Rob Binsrick:
"Basically this boils down to another example of Obama saying one thing while either he or members of his administration are doing the opposite. If Obama were serious about moving beyond petty politics, then he would start holding people like Gibbs accountable for their actions. Thus far, though, he has failed to do that with anyone in his administration and that is likely a major reason why he has such a decreasing credibility rating with the American people."
Pat Austin:
"Over at Politico's Arena, Attorney Walter Dellinger characterizes Sarah Palin's Tea Party speech as... filled with 'mean-spirited sarcasm' when she asks, “A year later, I've got to ask the supporters of all that, how is that hopey-changey stuff working out for ya?' of Obama's supporters... With unemployment still incredibly high and the deficit rising higher by the day, with national security at an almost pre-9/11 mentality, with all that is wrong in The White House right now, I think Palin asks a fair question."
Logistics Monster:
"How Much Power Do The Liberals Want To Give Sarah Palin... Ever heard the saying 'any press is good press.' I mean really; how stupid are these people? I would not have touched [Palmgate] for a million bucks. I hope they keep stooping to new lows. If this is all they can attack her on, what is 2010 and 2012 actually going to look like? The Million Dollar Questions: How stupid are progressives? Have progressives ever played chess? Have these people never heard of Newton’s Laws of Motion?"
Noel Sheppard:
"So, in the course of seven minutes, Olbermann accused Limbaugh and Palin of trying to kill people with global warming skepticism while claiming that Limbaugh and Beck are getting rich by tricking the public into voting against their best interests... It really is disgusting, isn't it?"
Gary P. Jackson:
"To say that Sarah Palin is a dynamic figure is a gross understatement. Sarah is a woman who commands attention, and commands respect. Oh yeah, she has her detractors, everyone does, but they are only making themselves more and more irrelevant with each passing day. These Palin deniers might try and tell themselves that Sarah Palin doesn’t matter, but that simply doesn’t make it so! The radical left and the media (yes, yes..I know, same thing) have tried to set up a narrative that Sarah doesn’t matter, that she is irrelevant. And yet, they follow her every word. It has become quite comical to watch the Palin deniers twist themselves into knots every time she says or does something."
Doug Ross:
"Leave it to the crackpots on the left to scream the news at the top of their lungs: some dude who liked Sarah Palin stockpiled weapons... Interestingly, the same propagandists somehow missed the news that Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Jeffrey Jones, Mike Klonsky and a bevy of other radicals helped launch Barack Obama's career and/or offered their unconditional support for his campaign."
Tim Graham:
"Barbara Walters took to her own soapbox Monday on ABC’s 'The View' to deride Sarah Palin. But if viewers were only getting their news from Barbara, they’d be getting a very slanted version of what Palin said. Walters said she urged Obama to declare war on Iran, but 'I don’t have the exact quote...' If Walters had acted like a journalist should, and actually looked at the transcript of Fox News Sunday... she would have seen that Palin wasn’t saying Obama should declare war on Iran... She was saying a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities is one way Obama could revive his sagging political fortunes..."
Linda Larson:
"While I may not agree with all of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin's politics, after reading her book Going Rogue: An American Life, I have more respect and admiration for her. While the media is cutthroat for most political candidates, I feel she got treated unfairly... Being part of the national political scene entails being knocked around by critics. Yet some things make me angry about her treatment by the media and her own Republican handlers."
Moonbattery:
"Some frothing-at-the-mouth left-wing bloggers have attacked Sarah Palin for wearing a black bracelet with the name of her son Track engraved on it. Track Palin is bravely serving in the U.S. Army... Supposedly, according to these left-wing military experts fashion critics, it is a horrific, scandalous breach of protocol to wear the name of a live soldier on a black bracelet. It began with an as-of-this-time unretracted post at the Yale Daily News, and the deranged Palin-haters of the left quickly ran with the story... Once again, the left's hate has made them R-worded. Because that's not what the bracelets are for at all, as a simple Bing search would have revealed. The bracelet Sarah Palin wears is a deployment bracelet, which is available in both black and silver."
Glenn Reynolds:
"First they ignore your, then they laugh at you, then they smear you, then you win. An updated version for the 21st Century... Reader C.J. Burch writes: 'And if they had simply stuck with the ignore you part they would have come out so much better. But then stupidity and evil have always been a noxious brew especially when it is topped off by arrogance.' Yeah, imagine how much less powerful Sarah Palin would be if they’d just given her the usual amount of attention received by losing VP candidates. But they just can’t help themselves."
Adrienne's Catholic Corner:
"Creepy people who earn buckets of money on TV, call her stupid, and the son of Ronald Reagan insists she doesn't have a thought in her head and does not possess any basic principles. People that call themselves 'journalists' gather together, similar to what the 'cool' kids in high school do, to heap smirking ridicule on her, often laced with thinly disguised vulgarity. Obviously, they care a lot about Sarah Palin. They hound her, mock her, trash her family, and spend untold hours and amounts of energy in an attempt to discredit her... Remember, every time the Robert Gibbs' of the world, the Obama shills that call themselves journalists, and the over-paid TV personalities mock her, they are mocking us."
Scott Whitlock:
"Good Morning America’s Kate Snow on Thursday highlighted a clip of Joe Biden for a piece on Sarah Palin and her 'out there' comments. The Vice President, who has made several verbal gaffes of his own, derided, 'Some of the comments made are just so far, sort of, out there, I just don't know where they come from.' Snow apparently didn’t see much irony in featuring Biden, who once exhorted a paraplegic man to 'stand up...'"
AmeriCAN-DO Attitude:
"These idiots just can’t help themselves. In an article discussing Danica Patrick’s popularity, CBS Sports sportstool Mike Freeman just couldn’t help but get in a dig at Sarah Palin... Talk about astounding hypocrisy. Sarah Palin is 'all hat and no cattle'? Really, bud? ...Sarah Palin has an accomplished political background and career in Alaska with many successes under her belt, including defeating an incumbent Governor in her own Party, successfully fighting corruption within her own Party and renegotiating leases with the largest oil company in the world for the benefit of her State’s residents. All the while raising a family of 5, including a son who is currently serving in Iraq and one who was recently born with Down Syndrome. But, of course, to the astute mind of this brilliantly obscure sportswriter no one has heard of, that amounts to 'all hat and no cattle.'"
Gary Devine:
"One would think America is Nirvana. We might think unemployment is under 3%. The wars are over. Afghanistan and Iraq are now peace-loving nations and strong trading partners. The Dow would be cruising over 12,000. That’s what one would think when Press Secretary Robert Gibbs smugly showed handwriting on his palm at his daily press conference earlier this week. This immature prank was an obvious jab directed at Sarah Palin. We at the Examiner had a previous installment asking why The Party of Love criticizes Sarah Palin. She was on the losing presidential ticket. An immature, insecure president with an even more immature, insecure press secretary is absolutely petrified of the former governor of Alaska."
Ken Taylor:
"The left, especially those in the Pravda Obama loving media tend to focus on Sarah Palin much more than they should in an off Presidential year election. This focus on her and 2012 has become a major distraction of the left and the ever present probability that Democrats are going to get their tails handed to them in November because of the anger of the American people toward their policy and their irresponsible spending... Everyone from Obama, and his Court Jester press secretary Robert Gibbs to many in Congress and the left wing media spend a great deal of time either commenting on or discussing Sarah Palin and especially what she has to say about the leftist agenda of Democrats. Much of what they say is in the form of personal attacks against her, but their focus on her and her possibilities in 2012 show that they see her as a threat and this makes her a distraction which takes their focus off of 2010 to a certain extent which is good. It only helps to reinforce their own sense of denial that the people are fed up with them and likely to boot them out in November."
Michael J. Gaynor:
"This year [Kathleen] Parker's 'Valentine' to Sarah Palin, an article titled 'Sarah Palin should beware of exploiting her youngest child', should send a thrill up at least one of [chris] Matthew's legs... When it comes to using Mrs. Palin's youngest child, Ms. Parker is expert... Ms. Parker protested too much in 2008 and was no more persuasive this month in volunteering parental advice to Mrs. Palin supposedly for Trig's sake... It's not easy being Mrs. Palin: the abortion crowd condemns you for not aborting Trig when you learned he had Downs syndrome and Ms. Parker depicts you as a political opportunist using Trig as 'a political tool.' Ms. Parker: 'Celebrities who embrace causes are valuable players in raising awareness and advancing policy. That said, the degree to which one uses another's circumstances to achieve those ends requires a studious self-awareness that seems lacking in the equation of Trig and his mother.' It is Ms. Parker who is lacking."
