Governor Palin's children are just colateral damange

The editors of the Augusta Chronicle find it significant that both the conservative Concerned Women for America and the liberal National Organization for Women have condemned Creepy Dave Lecherman for his crude, sexist joke made at the expense of Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter.

But young women, say the editors, are just collateral damage in the attacks that the late night talk show host and his media cohorts routinely level against traditional values and those who advocate them:
"In short, it's open season on conservatives -- and their children are fair game. Ever since Gov. Palin arrived on the national scene, the liberal media have been desperate to tear her down. Someone so engaging, popular and conservative can't be allowed to gain political power. The media seemed to want to nip that in the bud."
And if they have to use young women to lash out at rising conservative stars, then they can laugh it off as "It was just a joke." That sounds disturbing similar to another liberal refrain, one from the Clinton years that went something like this: "It was just about sex."
