Juneau mayor offers compromise on Senate seat

From newsminer.com
JUNEAU, Alaska - Juneau Mayor Bruce Botelho has entered the fray over filling a vacant state Senate seat, backing a predecessor, Dennis Egan, for the position.

Botelho said the former mayor, who served from 1995 to 2000, and is the son of Bill Egan, the state's first governor, would be a good compromise candidate.

Egan is a lifetime Democrat who has a reputation for being fairly conservative but a problem solver as well, Botelho said.
There is early bipartisan support for the compromise suggestion from Beth Kerttula (D-Juneau) and John Harris (R-Valdez). Both are asking all parties concerned to unite behind Egan.
