Murkowski a "bit surprised" Sarah Palin endorsed Joe Miller. Really?

*
At least Lisa Murkowski is not "shocked, shocked!" by Sarah Palin's endorsement of her opponent Joe Miller in the Alaska GOP primary race for the U.S. Senate, but according to an AP report, the incumbent Senator does say that she is a "bit surprised" by it:
U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski says she was a "bit surprised" Sarah Palin endorsed her opponent in the Republican primary, given Palin's past support for her. But Murkowski says there are no hard feelings.

Murkowski says Alaska is a small state when it comes to politics, and believes much of Palin's stated support for Joe Miller has to do with the personal relationship between the Palin and Miller families.
It was one year ago that the "surprised" Senator said, upon Gov. Palin's announcement that she would resign her office, "I am deeply disappointed that the governor has decided to abandon the state and her constituents before her term has concluded." Actually, Sarah Palin did not "abandon" her state. She left the governor's office in the very capable hands of her former lieutenant governor whom was elected to the state's number two job by the same voters who elected Mrs. Palin. Sean Parnell has continued in Sarah Palin's stead with her agenda and her policies.

Murkowski's own statement should have been her first clue not to expect another Palin endorsement. Clue number two should have been when Todd Palin showed up at a Joe Miller fundraiser, an appearance which was heavily promoted in advance by Miller's campaign, early in May. Murkowski also admitted that the Palin and Miller clans are close, so that should have been the third clue.

So why the feigned "surprise" by Senator Clueless over the Miller endorsement? The cluelessness doesn't stop there. Murkowski is an abortion facilitator, while Sarah Palin is an outspoken opponent of the grisly practice. Murkowski has said publicly that she was "offended" by Gov. Palin's "death panel" terminology, and the moderate GOP Senator has been caught on YouTube saying that she opposes the repeal of ObamaCare. Sen. Clueless voted for the $192 Billion additional federal stimulus spending, voted YES on Congressional pay raises, Yes on continued federal funding for declared "sanctuary cities" and YES on establishing a guest worker program.

Given all of the above, Sen. Clueless should not have been the least "bit surprised" by Gov. Palin's endorsement of Joe Miller

  1. Joe Miller is a great man. He is truly concerned about the United States, Freedom, and the budget. He is a wonderful man, with an resume that is impressionable to say the least. I'm voting for Joe, and I know that he will make a difference for Alaska as well as the United States!!! GO JOE!!!

  2. Why should Murkowski be shocked. I believe in 2004 (Murkowski's first Senate election after being appointed by her daddy in 2002 to serve out the remaining two years of his term) Sarah also endorsed Murkowski's primary opponent.

These endorsements by Sarah all have to do with Murkowski being a huge RINO. Based on Senate lifetime voting records up to Dec. 31, 2009, the American Conservative Union (ACU) scores Murkowski as being the fifth most liberal Republican in the Senate.

    http://www.conservative.org/ratings/ratingsarchive/2009/Senate%20Ratings.htm

Here are the twelve biggest RINOs according to ACU's lifetime scoring:

    1) Specter 43.63%
    2) Snowe 47.88%
    3) Collins 49.43%
    4) Voinovich 69.83%
    5) Murkowski 70.19%
    6) Shelby 75.43%
    7) Lugar 77.26%
    8) Alexander 78.00%
    9) Gregg 78.68%
    10) Cochran 80.13%
    11) Bond 81.90%
    12) McCain 81.97%

A perfect conservative voting record is 100%. The most conservative Republican senator is Barrasso at 98.67% followed by DeMint at 98.55% and Coburn at 98.00%.

With the defeat of Specter and the retirement of Voinovich, Murkowski now moves into third place as the most liberal Republican right behind Snowe and Collins.
