Stacy McCain: Anatomy of an Anti-Palin Hoax

*
The greatest shame of today's press is more just practicing the worst kind of advocacy journalism by being totally in the tank for the political left and the Democrat Party. That shame is compounded by some of the stupid media tricks they pull. We have often remarked how said it is that the mainstream media simply reprints what it reads on the nutroots blogs of the far left, rarely even bothering to check to ensure that what they are regurgitating has any factual basis.

That's a far cry from the JOUR 2032 of our college days in flyover country at the University of Arkansas' Fullbright College, where we were taught to confirm the veracity of everything we wrote with two independent and unimpeachable sources. Two others who were taught in the same manner as we are Sarah Palin (University of Idaho) and Stacy McCain (Jackson State University). Gov. Palin's Journalism degree may be from a small university in the remote west, but she knows when the media is "making things up." Stacy McCain knows that also, and he is driven to get to the bottom of stories in the media that don't seem to pass the smell test:
Headline in the New York Post, Monday:
Bristol Palin & Levi Johnston eyeing reality show
Headline in US Weekly, later Monday:
Exclusive: Rep: Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston Aren't Doing a Reality Show
OK, so what's going on here? Why would the New York Post print a story stating as a fact that Sarah Palin's daughter was pitching a TV show without bothering to get confirmation from any of the alleged stars of such a show? They certainly must have trusted their sources. And who would those sources be?
One online commenter said of their reunion, "When you have no way to come up with $1,700 a month in child support . . . and there aren't any other jobs out there . . . options are limited."
Hmmm. "One online commenter"? Better make that one anonymous commenter at a notorious anti-Palin blog...
And what blog might that be? To find out, read the rest of Stacy's exposé at The American Spectator's Amspec blog.
