AJC: Deal and Handel will face off in GOP runoff

*
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Democrat Roy Barnes easily won the Democratic gubernatorial primary in Georgia Tuesday. He will face either Karen Handel or Nathan Deal in the November general election:
Handel is pulling ahead with 34 percent of the vote, and Deal was running second with 23 percent. Eric Johnson had 20 percent of the vote and John Oxendine 17 percent.

Oxendine, Georgia’s insurance commissioner since 1994, conceded at about 10:15.

The top two Republican vote-getters will face each other in a runoff Aug. 10.

The percentages have been largely static since about 10 percent of the vote was counted.
Handel was endorsed by Gov. Sarah Palin last week.
