Jindal fundraiser beaten in New Orleans (Updated)

*
According to The Hayride, leftist goons violently attacked a couple in New Orleans Friday night for the crime of wearing Sarah Palin pins. After being savagely beaten by the thugs, Allee Bautsch and her boyfriend Joe Brown were hospitalized; her for a broken leg and he with a broken jaw, a broken nose and a concussion.

Bautsch, who is Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal's chief campaign fundraiser, said that she and Brown were followed by their attackers from Brennan's Restaurant, where the fundraising dinner was held. As they were walking, the Hayride report says, she heard one of the thugs say, “Let’s get them, they have Palin pins on.” Just two blocks away from the famous restaurant, they were ambushed by the group.

An Associated Press report describes how a large crowd of protesters, including students and professors at the University of New Orleans, marched to the Hilton Hotel Friday. Many of then apparently continued on to Brennan's to protest there. The Hayride says the protest turned ugly outside of the restaurant.

The left and their media apologists continually claim that it is Tea Partiers and Sarah Palin supporters who incite violence, but when it comes to actual broken bones, bloody noses and bitten-off fingers, it's the leftists who are doing the damage. Perhaps they were inspired by the Inciter-in-Chief, who told his supporters to "get in the faces" of those who oppose Obama and his radical left agenda. If that wasn't a big enough clue, Obama was more specific at a Philadelphia fundraiser, where he said, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”

A Times-Picayune story quotes a Jindal spokesman who said that Allee Bautsch underwent surgery over the weekend and won't fully recover for two to three months. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and Joe Brown. You can email "get well" wishes to Allee through Gov Jindal's office here. Flowers are never a bad idea, either.

The full Hayride report is here.

Update: Michelle Malkin says some details of the Hayride story are disputed by Jindal press secretary Kyle Plotkin, who told her that the couple were not wearing Palin pins. The Hayride has now dialed its story back, without disclosing its source for the original report that the two were wearing Palin pins. Who told them that? What is the source of Allee's quote about what she allegedly overheard one of the attackers say?
