Say Anything: Is Sarah a Socialized Medicine Hypocrite? Not Really.

*
Rob Port on the latest Palin non-scandal:
The Washington Post reports, as though it were news, that Palin refers to an instance where her brother was, in the 1960’s, once taken to Whitehorse (in Canada’s Yukon province) to get a burned foot treated.

This is supposed to be news because Sarah Palin is an outspoken opponent of government-run health care systems including Canada’s. So, you know, how could she.

Well, here’s the most immediate problem: Sarah Heath, who was to one day become Sarah Palin, was born in 1964 in Idaho. Her family moved to Skagway, Alaska while she was an infant. At the most, she would have been 6 years old when her brother was taken to Canada to get treated for his burned foot.

I don’t think the six-year-old Sarah was calling the shots on where her family got health care.

[...]

Once again, the media’s hatred for all things Palin trumps logic, reason and fact.

  1. Apparently, Sarah's speech in Calgary on Saturday is causing lefties on both sides of the border to go into fits of rage and hypocrisy today. The latest episode comes from this Calgary Sun article.

    http://www.calgarysun.com/news/alberta/2010/03/07/13146061.html/

It seems that one of the sponsors of the event (promoters)was Enmax. Enmax is a 100% owned government corporation (owned by the City of Calgary)which provides local dirtribution of electricity and natural gas to the citizens of Calgary. Now two left wing Council members in Calgary are all upset that this government corporation would be part of a group of sponsors and promoters that would guarantee Sarah's speaking fees. How dare they bring in and pay for this extreme conservative from the US! One of the Council member sits on the Board of Directors of Enmax and vows to raise this matter at the next Board meeting!

However, as the VP of Govt. Relations for Enmax points out, Enmax was also part of a group that brought in Al Gore to speak last year and guaranteed his speaking fee. Neither of those Council members objected to this, even though Al Gore advocates shutting down - or at least having the US boycott - the Alberta tar sands which would devastate the economies of Alberta and Calgary, and their citizens! Talk about hypocrisy!

While not pointed out in the article, since the event was completely sold out, the event turned a profit for the promoters and sponsors which Enmark will benefit from. However, as we know profits are a bad thing for lefties.

I'm now just waiting for the next lefty smear against Palin which will obviously be that she is a socialist because she accepted a speaking fee at least partially guaranteed by a government owned corporation!

  2. The loons on the left are grasping at any straw they can. Essentially, the dems and their media minions have decided that the best shot they have at winning the 2010 elections is to run against Sarah Palin. How pathetic is that?
