Want Sarah to sign your copy of Going Rogue? Take a number...

Several of the stores which will be stops on the Going Rogue book tour have realized that they have a problem. Sarah Palin will be visiting their shops for a limited amount of time -- usually just a few hours -- but they anticipate more customers wanting to get the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate to sign their copies of her memoir than time will permit.

To try to avoid long lines and frustrated customers, some of the bookstores will ask customers wanting Palin's autograph to take a number. Books-A-Million, which will host Palin book signings at its retail stores in Birmingham, Alabama November 23 and Jacksonville, Florida November 24, will distribute line numbers for each event on the day prior to the former governor's appearance. Line numbers for the Birmingham event will be distributed beginning at 12 noon on Sunday, November 22, and for the Jacksonville event will be distributed starting at 5 p.m. on Monday, November 23, at each store location.

At the Roanoke, Virginia Barnes & Noble bookstore in Valley View Mall, where the Palin book tour will stop November 22, the store will use a system of wristbands which it will hand out to fans starting at 6 a.m. that morning, says Deanna Lemburg, Barnes & Noble's regional community relations manager. Any customer who wants to have a place in line so Mrs. Palin can sign their copy of Going Rogue will have to have a wristband.

We advise Palin fans who want to get their books signed by Sarah to contact each store on an individual basis to learn how to be assured of securing a place in line. Our Going Rogue Book Tour Schedule, with dates, times and locations, is here. It is being continuously updated as new information is made public.

Update: Plano, TX book signing announced.

  1. Josh, thanks for this. After reading this, I called the Borders store in Noblesville and was told they haven't made a decision yet. The employee there told me that the store has been talking to Palin's people about this and no final decision has been made. Also, she recommended that I do call the store directly again when I want to check back, but that it will probably be a week before they will know anything. Thanks!
