More Quote of the Day Honorable Mention, Part 73

*
"The Legend of Grizzly Mountain Video" Edition...

IWF analyst Nicki Kurokawa via CBN News:
"It hit a lot of positive notes, and it was very polished, and she looked very presidential... Definitely this shows that she is planning on influencing the 2010 elections in a big way. So this is just testing the waters for greater things."
Alex Altman at TIME:
"Mark McKinnon, a Republican strategist who worked for President George W. Bush, says the ad is successful because it stops short of glitzy... 'It has a raw, documentary feel which makes it seem authentic. And authenticity is what voters are yearning for today.' 'I loved watching it," says [GOP consultant] Fred Davis III... 'Sarah Palin is a great communicator. The video was her.' CNN's Rick Sanchez went farther, calling the performance 'Reaganesque.'"
Andy Barr & Jonathan Martin at Politico:
"Sarah Palin’s newly-released video managed to drive cable news television chatter and blazed across the blogosphere Thursday. It was a remarkable display of force—and one that almost no one else in American political life can replicate."
Alex Pappas at The Daily Caller:
"Lots of journalists and talking heads are having fun with the idea... that 'Palin would be a much better RNC chairman than presidential candidate or freelance kingmaker.' But Palin’s political action committee — SarahPAC — released a video Thursday morning that appears to resemble an ad a presidential candidate might make — and not necessarily someone gunning to head a national political party."
Mary Kate Cary at U.S.News & World Report:
"If Palin continues along these lines--with an uplifting message for women...she might change a lot of people’s perceptions of her."
Bart DePalma at Citizen Pamphleteer:
"Remember how talking heads labelled the GOP the daddy party and the Dems the mommy party? In what sure looks like a campaign ad, Sarah Palin seeks to turn that cliche on its head... Given the record number of women the GOP has nominated to run for the House and Senate this year, many of them on the strength of a Palin endorsement, maybe Sarah can help turn the GOP into the mama grizzly party."
Michelle Malkin:
"Sarah Palin is out with a very savvy video capturing the spirit of the grass-roots conservative women’s movement..."
Illinois Review:
"Sarah Palin's ideology and energy is movin' throughout the states through conservative women, and Illinois shouldn't miss this movement like we did the Reagan movement in the 80s."
Ed Morrissey at Hot Air:
"Sarah Palin’s PAC released their latest organizing-fundraising video... and it bolsters Palin’s efforts to claim the female voter demographic as her own. In the past, the media have tried to come up with cute ways of pigeonholing women, especially suburban wives and mothers who are seen as a big swing force in national elections. Twenty years ago, they were called 'soccer moms'; in the wake of 9/11, 'security moms'. Palin picks a more active — and activist — monicker for the women who comprise her base: 'mama grizzlies'... "
Rich Gelina:
"Sarah Palin’s new ad reminded me of how she energized not just me but the entire Conservative base, which was disgusted by the nomination of John McCain. I hope the people of the United States are ready to make a correction and to recover from the huge error of the 2008 presidential election."
Michael O'Brien at The Hill's Blog Briefing Room:
"The Alaska conservative has been one of the largest proponents of the popularized theory that 2010 would be a kind of 'year of the woman' in politics, as a number of female candidates wage high-profile battles for House and Senate seats, as well as governor's mansions."
bc3b at Be John Galt:
"Internet and cable news shows were abuzz with Sarah Palin’s new Momma Grizzlies video... In less than 24 hours it received more than 245,000 hits on YouTube. Palin’s goal is obviously to energize women, both conservative women and women who are not left wing ideologues, but who have been voting Democratic for “touchy/feely” reasons by appealing to their maternal instincts... Could it be the start of a Palin for President campaign? Palin has more than 1.8 million followers on Facebook and is adding approximately 9,000 new Facebook followers every day plus more than 80,000 Team Sarah members."
Matthew Continetti at The Weekly Standard Blog:
"The former governor's political action committee has released a video which... subtly links Palin to Ronald Reagan. It's slickly produced. Palin comes off as attractive and positive. You get the feeling you are watching a campaign ad. And maybe you're right."
Clifton B at Another Black Conservative:
"Palin has identified the newest voter block hitting America, moms who have turned activist. I cannot tell you how many mothers I have met who are now full tilt political activists. They have started Tea Parties, blogs and action committees. These women see Washington’s wayward ways as a threat to their children’s future and are thus more motivated than most political activists. Should Palin be able to lock up this bunch, she will have a powerful and resourceful bunch of supporters."
Don Surber at the Charleston Daily Mail:
"She is the leader of the Mama Grizzlies, the protectors of the cubs."
Jay Newton-Small at TIME's Swampland Blog:
"The thing I find interesting about it is it's focus on women. Most female politicians run away from their femininity and don't make concerted efforts to appeal to a natural constituency. It wasn't, for example, until the very end of her campaign that Hillary Clinton spoke openly about cracking the glass ceiling. Palin, instead, is running hard towards it -- indeed she's trying to create a movement of conservative women that just happen to be her base voters."
Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit:
"The ad seeks to build up the Palin brand as a fiercely independent mom who isn’t going to stand by and let the Obama-Pelosi Regime run her down."
Dan Friedman at Grendel Report:
"Yo! Andrew 'bareback' Sullivan, have you seen this video Sarah's just released... it's your worst nightmare. As they say on Madison Ave., brilliant product positioning, first class production values, cuts through the clutter with a simple, memorable message - and oh that voice over! If you were any kind of man, Andy, that woman's twang, vivacity, and simple patriotism would send a shudder up your spine and a chill up your leg. Talk about 'energizing the base!' Eat your heart out, Andy."
Liberal blogger Greg Sargent at WaPo's The Plum Line:
"By producing such a slick political ad with an undeniably strong political message, the signal is clear: Palin is a political force to be reckoned with... And you shouldn't dismiss the possibility that she really may run for president."
StandByLiberty:
"This new commercial by Palin makes it look like she is running for president. People criticized her as being unsophisticated. Guess what, this ad proves she could be a very formidable candidate if she chooses to be... Anybody who thought they could simply run her out of town, didn’t know Sarah Palin. As this ad proves, she’s back and if she wants to... she can play a huge role in the Republican Party... This ad goes to a very basic theme and its not just appealing to women."
Marc Ambinder at The Atlantic:
"As a rule, this column does not generally notice web videos, but this one is special... Palin's preoration is about November, 2010, but it is hard to read this video as anything but a test of a much larger potential operation."
Weasel Meister at Weasel Zippers:
"She bleeds red, white, and blue."
Jennifer at Cubachi:
"Sarah Palin articulated why it is the women of the Republican Party, the 'mama grizzlies' that will rise up and protect their cubs (constituents and children) from the ever ferocious federal government. I love the ad. 'I’m a Mama grizzly, hear me roar!' is what I get from it... [Neither] we nor Palin have forgotten the conservative men out there worthy of mention... 'papa bears.' Heh."
Christine at Talk Wisdom:
"Sarah Palin is the best... Such a breath of fresh air in the midst of a gangster government that doesn't respect the will of the people... Count me in with the Mama Grizzlies!"
Mike Allen at Politico:
"This shrewdly choreographed montage... could help expand Palin's appeal toward the center, helping the Republican Party with its demographic peril. The elegant video should score with voters who liked Palin's message but were cool to the messenger."

  1. All excellent comments. No other politician could have pulled off something like this, making a relatively inexpensive video ad that has been seen, written about, and heard about by tens of millions of people all over the country. Any politician would give his or her right arm for that kind of power.

Judging from the unhinged and deranged comments left by libs regarding this ad, I can't wait to see what happens when she announces officially that she's running, and actually puts some ads on TV.
