Sarah Palin: Why the snub of Mother Teresa?

*
On Twitter Thursday morning, Sarah Palin wanted to know:
"U kidding, Empire State Bldg officials?U won't honor Mother Theresa's compassionate, selfless efforts for humanity, but honor Communist Mao?"
Why indeed would the owners of the historic skyscraper snub the late Mother Teresa by refusing to turn on the lights for what would have been her 100th birthday in August? Fox 5 NY tried to visit the building's management offices Wednesday to get an answer, but they were turned away at the door:
Anthony Malkin of Malkin Holdings, which owns the building, did issue a statement. While acknowledging that the Empire State Building has a tradition of lightings for certain religious holidays Malkin said: "As a privately owned building, the Empire State Building has a specific policy against any other lighting for religious figures or requests by religions and religious organizations."

The Catholic League quickly said the building's managers were lying.

"Why is it when John Paul II died in 2005 they extinguished the lights in his honor?" said Bill Donohue.

Past recipients of the floodlight honor include: The Simpsons in 2007, Mariah Carey in 2008, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2009, and the 60th anniversary of Communist China five months later.
