It is no secret that Sarah Palin is a personality with enormous public appeal. Forget about the stories that show she is hard to work with because she doesn't have a huge staff helping to figure out her scheduling logistics three months in advance.
If she did have [a] large staff, there would be story after story about how she has surrounded herself with a posse of disciples, able and willing to react to her every whim and desire.
Sort of like the President's staff.
Because there is no Secret Service and no taxpayer-funded political advance men and women running around with ear-pieces and radios at a Palin event, it is far more difficult to judge how many people are packed into a high-school gym, or a community auditorium.
One of the reasons the Palin coverage has been reduced is because it became obvious that she was not living up to her reputation (nor expectations) of being a scatterbrained embarrassment to the Republican Party. It became much more useful for the press corps to press its case against the Tea Party movement by switching its focus from Palin to Christine O'Donnell.
You don't think there's an agenda? Let's pretend O'Donnell doesn't have a very good chance of winning the race for U.S. Senator in Delaware next Tuesday; just for the sake of my making this point.

Joe Scarborough has become a rash on conservatism's inner thigh. He poses as the last, great conservative thinker, but he truly is buffoonish. Here he is trashing Sarah Palin, claiming she will cost Republicans the Senate.
I see Palin campaigning all over the country for candidates. I see her raising funds for them. I see her attending Tea Party events, Republican events, you name it. She's in the fight. She has put her neck on the line and has exposed her family to outrageous ridicule. And she has done great things that have advanced conservatism and Republican Party hopes next week.
Conversely, Joe Scarborough has done nothing. He sits at his table on MSNBC arrogantly denouncing conservatives, pandering to liberals, and repeating stupid talking points someone uttered days earlier. He has no ideas and, worse, he drags down those who do. Has he campaigned for anyone? Yet he passes judgment on someone who has. Has he raised funds for anyone? Has he used his "celebrity" (such as it is) in constructive ways? He tried radio twice. He failed. His book had minimal sales (he will tell you he was on the New York Times list, but he won't tell you sales figures). And his cable audience is barely a blip on the ratings chart. The ratings and book figures don't lie. If challenged on this point, I will go dig them up. So Scarborough's ego is far bigger than his following. And his following is small because he's irrelevant.
But when he fires shots into the backs of conservatives, those shots should not be free shots, for he does so knowing full well that he'll score points with his bosses and colleagues at MSNBC and beyond. That's his real audience.
Go Sarah. Get lost Joe.

* The Republican Party's candidate for the U.S. Senate will host a rally Thursday in Anchorage. Joe Miller's campaign calls it the “Change DC” rally, and Sarah Palin and Todd Palin top the list of special guests that also includes former "Northern Exposure" star Janine Turner.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe radio talker Lars Larson and others are scheduled to appear at the rally via teleconferencing.
The event will be held in the Dena’ina Center at 600 W 7th Ave in Anchorage, and they will open the doors at 6 PM Alaska Time. There is no admission fee, but we doubt the Miller campaign will be refusing any donations.
* Blogger Nancy Willing at Delaware Way says Gov. Palin will "definitely" be in Wilmington, Delaware when the Tea Party Express bus tour rolls in to Dravo Plaza on South Madison Street for a 3 PM (local time) rally:
"The chatter has died down since Sarah Palin tweeted that she would come and campaign in Delaware for her Tea Party endorsee, Christine O'Donnell, well, until today anyway.
I was watching C-SPAN this morning when Tea Party Express founder, Sal Russo, said he is heading to Delaware this weekend to rally for O'Donnell. I made a few calls and discovered that area businesses have been contacted by Palin's 'people' and yes, she is [definitely] going to be traveling here with the Tea Party Express."
* Fox News anchor Shepard Smith, who is re-upping with Fox News for three more years, announced on ABC's "The View" that he will interview Sarah Palin when he anchors Fox's election coverage next Tuesday night. More at the LA Times' Show Tracker blog.
* According to a new Sunshine State News poll, Palin-endorsed congressional candidate Daniel Webster is maintaining a firm 7-point lead in Florid's 8th district, well positioned to send "increasingly malodorous" incumbent Democrat Rep. Alan Grayson back to the sewer he slithered out of:
Webster, a former state senator, leads Grayson, D-Orlando, 48-41... In a previous poll, conducted Sept. 25, Webster led Grayson 43-36, an identical 7-point margin.
"Webster has to be the favorite here. Grayson has failed to turn his negative image around, and is still viewed in a negative light by a 55-38 margin," said Jim Lee, president of Voter Survey Service, which conducted both polls. "This means Grayson has very little if any room to grow."

"The key difference in the poll when compared to last time is that Webster is surging with independents, now leading them by a 48-33 margin over Grayson, which is a reversal from a 42-33 Grayson lead in the last poll (a net swing of 24 points)," Lee reported.
Kathy Mears, a spokeswoman for Webster, said, "Although we are being outspent and deluged with some of the most negative and dirtiest ads in the country, we do sense a great deal of support from voters in the district. We trust that our positive message will win the day in Central Florida."

Since the Sunshine State News Poll shows Webster’s margin widening to 11 points among voters who say they are most likely to cast ballots (51-40), Lee projected that the Republican could top 50 percent on election night.
Even though both Webster and Grayson have increased their support in their respective bases (Webster up 7 with Republicans, Grayson up 8), the swing of independents against Grayson could prove to be his undoing.
And the congressman's rising unfavorable rating -- now worse than Obama's -- appears to be downright lethal.
"Grayson’s favorable-unfavorable image is now a staggering negative ratio of 55-30, compared to a negative 47-36 ratio in September, so it’s apparent his TV campaign has completely backfired," Lee said.
Grayson, who apparently suffers from a psychological disorder somewhat akin to Tourette's Syndrome on steroids, has accused Gov. Palin of inciting "zombie minions to take me out, like she was trying to shoot a moose from a helicopter." He went so far as to compare the seriousness of the "death threats" to "John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X," and "John Lennon."
In her rousing speech at the GOP rally in Orlando over the weekend, Gov. Palin referred to Grayson as a jackwagon:
"So many candidates around here running for the right reasons. You've got Rick Scott and Allen West. And you've got Pam Bondi. And Steve Southerland. And you've got Daniel Webster. OK, running against you know who. OK, we've got to stop just for one minute here with this one. The word that comes to mind, jackwagon. For some reason I think of Allen Grayson and jackwagon. Please, for the rest of the country, may that one-term wonder be retired, too. Please vote for Daniel Webster. Veterans for Webster."
Puzzled liberals took to the Web to express their ignorance of Sarah Palin's use of the jackwagon term. It's little wonder the military-hating left does not recognize the word. It's slang coined by U.S. troops to designate a useless person or a piece of equipment that doesn't function properly.

The Democrats’ finger-pointing and recriminations are only getting started. (Reminds me of the McCain campaign, which started blaming Sarah Palin before the election.) There will be plenty of blame to go around. But ultimately, Obama is head of his party as well as president. The upcoming electoral debacle will be his."
* Sarah Palin is the cover story in the new edition of New York magazine. It's a liberal publication, so the article is just dripping with the sort of condescension and ignorance you would expect from leftists who don't get out of New York City much. The piece is just wrong about several things. We agree, for example, with Ian Lazaran that Gov. Palin is perfectly capable of winning the 2012 election without a Michael Bloomberg third-party candidacy, which is the antithesis of the main point of the op-ed. But the article makes clear that many of the same elitists who pronounced her politically dead after the 2008 campaign and again after her resignation as Governor of Alaska are now grudgingly admitting that she's not only a player, but she's holding a poker hand that could win the pot. Here's are some excerpts:
But today the conventional wisdom about Palin is being revised again, nowhere more so than within the ranks of professional Republicans. Among two dozen senior strategists and operatives with whom I’ve spoken in recent days—including many of those responsible for securing the nomination for the party’s last three standard-bearers—there is a growing consensus that Palin is running or setting herself up to run. All agreed that her entry would radically and fundamentally transform the race. Most averred that if she steps into the fray, she stands a reasonable chance of claiming the Republican prize. Indeed, more than one argued that she is already the de facto front-runner.

“She has a greater claim to outsider status than anybody else in the race or who might get into the race,” says Vin Weber, a former Minnesota congressman who backed Romney in 2008 and will be with Pawlenty this time around. “Whether it’s tea-party activists, Evangelicals, or whatever stripe of activist you’re talking about, she has the strongest grassroots base, the most credibility, and the greatest appeal of anybody in the party.”
Weber pauses. “If she runs, she’s a very serious factor,” he says. “Everyone’s strategy is going to have to change—everyone’s. It’s a big computation to make.”

With her stratospheric name recognition and presumed capacity to raise millions quickly from her devotees via the web, Palin would be able to hold off on wading in much longer than her rivals, perhaps until as late as next fall. In the view of most Republican strategists, on the day she enters she obliterates all of the other candidates in the anti-Establishment bracket—which is why some deem her the front-runner today. “If she runs, given the intensity of her base, she will be for sure one of the two finalists coming down the homestretch,” says a veteran GOP campaign hand. “You can’t say that about anyone else in the party.”
Beyond the intensity of her grassroots following, Palin would bring to the race two other significant advantages, the first being the calendar. That she would be the prohibitive favorite in Iowa, where the caucuses are dominated by Evangelical voters, is considered a given by most strategists. But, in fact, all of the first four states might provide fertile ground for Palin. “Iowa and New Hampshire both are places in which the tea party has manifested itself,” observes Dowd. “In South Carolina, [firebrand Senator] Jim DeMint has already shown that he’s a force to be reckoned with. And Nevada’s nominated Sharron Angle.”
Palin’s second advantage, nearly incalculable in its scale and implications, is her ability simultaneously to drive and saturate the electronic media, new and old—the way that cable chronicles her every twitch, that with a trifling tweet she often earns 24 hours of breathless nonstop coverage. “It’ll be something that we’ve never seen before,” says John Weaver. “Obama wasn’t like that until the general election.”
Indeed, if the unemployment numbers remain where they are or get worse over the next two years, Sarah Palin will clean Obama's clock in the 2012 general election, should she decide to run. And that is regardless of whether Bloomberg or any other candidate mounts a third party effort.
* Monday on Facebook, Gov. Palin blasted Alaska's nasty Sen. Lisa Murkowski for the Vichy Republican's despicable attack on the honor of Joe Miller, a Gulf War veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star:

I have never seen a candidate stoop as low as was seen last night in Alaska’s senatorial debate.
Alaska’s Joe Miller is facing a tough three-way race for U.S. Senate. Though Joe decisively defeated the incumbent Senator in the primary, and though she conceded the race to him, she reneged on her primary vow to not contest the will of the people. She is now running a write-in campaign bankrolled by Beltwayspecial interests.
I’ve seen some pretty ugly campaigning, and what they’re throwing at Joe right now is nasty. Joe’s opponents can’t run on the issues because they’re wrong on them – whether it’s repealing and de-funding Obamacare, fighting against cap-and-tax, protecting our borders, or pushing hard for responsible resource development. They can’t win in a fair fight on the issues, so they sling mud.
We saw all of this play out in the Alaska senatorial debate yesterday. (Watch the video of the debate here.) Joe took a bold stance for Alaska’s future. He called out the sitting Senator’s involvement in racking up the massive debt burden on our children and grandchildren, as well as her plan to barter over the destructive job-killing cap-and-tax legislation. As Joe said, we should focus on trading “earmarks for ANWR, not cap and trade for ANWR.”
The sitting Senator also came out against Arizona’s right to protect its borders. She called for us to “enforce the laws that are currently on the books,” but didn’t seem to understand that that is precisely what Arizona is trying to do to protect itself because the federal government refuses to enforce our laws. Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised by her lackadaisical attitude to border security when we consider that she has repeatedly voted against funding a border fence and voted in favor of amnesty.
But perhaps the most shocking part of all in this debate was when the incumbent Senator used Joe Miller’s distinguished military service as a means to attack him. Joe Miller graduated from West Point, fought in Desert Storm, and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service to our country. I find it astonishing that a sitting U.S. Senator from Alaskawould challenge the honor of a decorated combat veteran. Is it any wonder the audience later booed her when she again challenged Joe Miller’s honor? Please watch the video of this exchange here.
We need to send a message that we’re not going to stand for this arrogant sense of entitlement and business-as-usual Beltway corruption. BTW, what Miller was disciplined for at the North Star Borough was voting in an online poll (Along with the link goes the obligatory AOSHQ language alert for families who surf the Web together).
Drew says "let's not pretend this isn't a bad thing," but it's just not. Miller was an employee (part-time) and it was the employer's policy that computers not be used for political purposes. Okay -- he violated the employer's rules... but what he did can barely even be termed "for political processes." He went to four machines because they had different IPs and voted on them all to Freep a meaningless online poll.
This November, voters in Alaska and throughout the country have a choice to make.
Alaska needs a senator who will fight for fiscal sanity, support the brave men and women serving in our military, and have the courage to protect the natural beauty of the Last Frontier. Joe Miller will fight for Alaska's opportunities to develop our natural resources andput Alaskans TO WORK!
They can vote for the status quo – the career politicians who helped get our country in this economic mess – or they can vote for common sense conservatives like Joe Miller.
Conservatives need to rally around Joe Miller. He is the only true conservative in this race.
While Lisa Murkowski and her special interests have nothing to lose in this race, Alaskans and conservatives across the country have everything to lose.

Paul Mirengoff doesn't seem to find it odd and takes an opportunity, in the last two weeks before the mid-term elections, to bash both Huckabee and Christine O’Donnell in one article. Conspicuously missing in Paul Mirengoff’s GOP Elitist hit piece is Sarah Palin. Perhaps the reason for that is Sarah Palin bites back leaving her own personal Mama Grizzly imparted ‘woundings’ when deserved.
Mike Huckabee has blasted Karl Rove and the “Republican Party establishment” for the “elitism” and “country club attitude” that he claims has driven Republican criticism of Christine O’Donnell. Huckabee says that he too was the victim of the such elitism when he ran for president. In Huckabee’s view, both he and O’Donnell suffer because they “didn't go to the right school and [attend] the proper cocktail parties on the D.C. social circuit.”
This expression of self-pity is beyond stupid.

The problem that some in the Republican establishment (and some of outside it) have with O’Donnell begins with the fact that she has very little chance of being elected, and her nomination seems destined to cost the Republicans a pick-up in the Senate in a year when majority status is a possibility. The problem extends to concerns about O’Donnell’sflakiness and seeming inability responsibly to handle her own financial affairs, among other things.
O’Donnell’s poll numbers reflect to a degree, but in no small measure, the results of GOP Elitist attack commentaries and pieces such as this Megan McCain-esque snort-piece from Mirengoff.
Is Paul Mirengoff a Romney backer? Remember Romney backers in the McCain campaign whispering anonymously to the lamestream media, that which was intended to hurt Sarah Palin? Gee… how forthright and un-progressive like, these backers of Romney.
While I am not a Huckabee backer for a 2012 presidential run possibility, you will not see me bashing Huckabee as some GOP Establishment Elitist-wannabe bloggers are bashing Christine O’Donnell and Mike Huckabee and, when the time is right again, Sarah Palin.
But Huckabee’s attack on Rove shouldn't be understood as a serious argument. Like most of what Huckabee says, it is better understood as a means of advancing his interests – in this case, his interest in currying favor with the Tea Party movement in advance of a possible (and I would think probable) run for the presidency.
To me, it is not that Huckabee is “currying favor,” rather, it is Mirengoff currying disfavor, not that I expect anything less in an anti-Huckabee hit piece… However, [I] will make my own decisions as to what to understand as a “serious argument” and what to discard.
It does not matter what life handed to someone or did not hand to someone who has the will, determination, and grit to get a job done and done right.
Michael Oher is a perfect example of overcoming life circumstances and non-snobbery enabling that has allowed Michael to get a job done and done right with will, determination, and grit.
Karl Rove, interviewed just recently by Der Spiegel, a dominant European media company, and said that the Tea Party movement is unsophisticated.
The grassroots Tea Party movement is not a political party. The GOP is a political party who, like the Democrat Political party, has a problem with listening to the voices of the Majority of Voters in this country.
If the GOP thinks they can tell the American Population to shut-up and sit down like Obama & Co does... they will be replaced in a new Conservative Party who does listen.
