Reaction to 'Going Rogue' - Round Three

Here are some more quotes you can use to make Palin-hatin' leftists foam at the mouth...

bRight & Early:
"Sarah Palin’s book, Going Rogue, won’t be released for another nearly 50 days. A situation that is sure to cause liberal heads to explode, Going Rogue is #1."
JammieWearingFool:
"Meanwhile, Barack Obama reportedly has called up his ghostwriter Bill Ayers and asked him to rush to print a new book of "his own" tentatively entitled Dreams of Myself."
Serr8d's Cutting Edge:
"Don't try this at home, Dems. All of the top-selling books r belong to us."
Dave Woodard, Clemson University political scientist:
"The left hates her for a reason, and they are afraid of what she can do."
Colleen O'Conner:
"The popular California bumper sticker, 'Keep On Honking. I’m Reloading' may capture the mystery that is Sarah Palin."
FireAndreaMitchell.com:
"#1 on Amazon and #1 on Barnes and Noble best seller list, and its not even out until mid-November! I bet Letterman hates this too."
Carter Clews:
"The real reason the far left hates Sarah Palin, of course, is that she embodies -- top to bottom, inside and out -- all that they hate to the very marrow of their poisonous bones... [She] is an outright affront to the ruinous situational ethics by which the left defines its very existence."
Politically Drunk On Power:
"Wednesday provided a solid victory for Palin as the deranged attacks upon her backfired and she accomplished the feat of unseating the Internet sales ranking of two newly released best-sellers."
Dan Gilgoff:
"Just look at the title: Going Rogue. With the book already in the No. 1 slot on Amazon, the pitch seems to be resonating."
Alamo City Pundit:
"I love this woman. I love any decent sister in Christ who can go toe-to-toe with Libs and drive them wild just by being honest."
Savage Indignation:
"I trust Gov. Palin will continue to be the focus of support not only for us Constitutionalists, populists, paleoconservatives, libertarians, and values voters, but also for all you Republicans of good will out there who think McCain, Grahamnesty and Lamar Alexander... and the rest of those country-club Viagravators should get bent."
Larry Croft:
"Mrs. Palin has been beat up ad nauseam but she doesn’t pick herself up and make a comeback. Instead, from what I see, she keeps on going without breaking stride."
Puma For Life:
"I can’t think of a more classic battle than one between The One and Sarah Palin; that is, if the press can contain themselves and, instead of slandering Palin’s character, report on the issues."
Chet Nichols:
"Oh, and that irony thing, it hurts too. 'Going Rouge' is the term that many of the left-wing media used while trying to belittle her. Whew…that’s gotta sting!"
McClatchy Watch:
"Going Rogue: An American Life should be fascinating for those of us who watched the Anchorage Daily News and McClatchy's DC bureau toss their ethics out the window in their determination to savage Sarah Palin."
There are more where these came from. Stay tuned...

How obsessed is The Left over Sarah Palin?

How obsessed is The Left over Sarah Palin? Olbermann Watch, a website that keeps track of the loony leftist so we don't have to watch Keith Olbermann's "Meltdown" program on MSDNC (Thanks, folks!), regularly examines keyword transcripts of his show.

A keyword search of the transcripts reveals that Bathtub Boy mentioned Sarah Palin no less than 56 times in the five day period from September 21st through the 25th. That's over 11 times in each one-hour program.

That's obsessed.

Todd Palin takes some time off the North Slope

Word comes from Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton that Todd Palin resigned from his North Slope oil production job with BP last month. His resignation was effective September 18.

According to Ms. Stapleton, the former First Dude wanted to spend more time with his family, and this is one of those times when that familiar phrase is likely to really mean what it says. Todd and Sarah have been co-breadwinners for over two decades now, and for the first time in their lives, neither is under pressure to punch the old time clock. Thanks to the former governor's book advance and speaker fees from her recent address to investors in Asia, both can afford to spend more time with the family.

At Conservative Girl With A Voice, our Blogs 4 Palin colleague Rachelle Friberg takes a look at Todd in "Forget Diamonds! A First Dude is a Girl's Best Friend" here.

Palin Power: The Silent Moms are Organizing

- By Thomas Lamb

Watch the video segment to see what the moms say about Palin and listen to how they describe themselves.

I wrote about Palin's Field of Dreams here.
Here is the conventional wisdom in politics, a candidate cannot win without their base.

The sophisticated pundits have been talking about the Republican base as if it were shrinking. What is shrinking within the Republican party is; the conservative base that has left the Republican party to become Independents.

That conservative base is where Palin brings her star power to the 2010 midterm elections.

Note to the professional pundits. You are new to the Palin factor and your conventional wisdom was really never conventional or wisdom at all.

Your analysis is called the status quo in the mundane thinking in politics.

For Palin, she brings with her travels the base that is still with the Republican party and outside the Republican party.

Pay no attention to the psycho babble of the professional pundits that have hypnotized many to think the base is shrinking, the base has been waiting for a candidate to rescue them from the doldrums of the status quo.

She is the Field of Dreams for that "shrinking base" that has laid and waited for that candidate to come along and rescue them from the mundane thinking of the status quo.

Who needs to quote the movie Field of Dreams' character, Ray Kinsella telling his wife "It's okay honey, I ... I was just talking to the cornfield" when you had a cornfield being cut down with Palin's figure.

Reaction to 'Going Rogue' - Round Two

Web trip!

Via National Reviews's The Corner, Rick Santorum:
"Sarah has... been hammered by the mainstream media. This is an opportunity for her to show a more thoughtful side. She has a gift for prose. Hopefully that comes across."
The Boston Globe:
"Palin took home a bundle from communist China after condemning Beijing’s destabilizing military buildup and the 1,000 Chinese missiles aimed at Taiwan. The hockey mom is becoming an operator."
Michael van der Galien [Shockingly positive toward Palin]:
"She could not possibly have hoped for a better start of a presidential campaign. And let’s face it, chances are she’ll run for president. She should. There’s not one Republican out there who is more popular among the grassroots. The only question is whether she’ll attempt to succeed Obama in 2012 or 2016. Like it or not, this woman truly is a phenomenon."
The Reaganite Republican [with our thanks for the h/t]:
"Go get em ‘Cuda- you're one tough lady, and there's a lot of us who have the utmost respect for you and your common-sense conservatism."
Dan Calabrese:
"Palin’s book is a big seller because she is a smart, honest woman who does what she believes is right without regard for what others will say about her – and everyday people love her for that."
Rick Moran:
"My guess is that John McCain and several of his staffers are going to have a lot of explaining to do once this book hits the stands."
Jamie Jeffords:
"As a conservative, Christian, and Jeffersonian, I cannot think of any other potential candidate who excites me the way she does."
Truth And Common Sense:
"She speaks for millions of people when she points out that many of the things the politicians do are just stupid. She also understands the limits of government and the limitlessness of man’s dreams... I also get a huge kick out of watching Palin, without any effort on her part except to draw breath, drive the likes of Maureen Dowd crazy."
Merv Benson:
"She has been closer than most politicians to where the conservative base is. That and her popularity have to be what is really scaring the left right now."
All News Source:
"Much to the chagrin of her critics, Sarah Palin is literally burning up the book charts across the board. It’s 38 days until the book goes public and it’s already #1 on Amazon and #1 on Barnes & Noble."
Morgan Freeberg:
"The wires are burning up with news that Sarah Palin’s co-author is 'extremely conservative'... Does anyone know what kind of meaning to make of that anymore? It means someone doesn’t have a problem if someone else eats meat or legally buys a gun?"
Samuel’s Blog:
"One wonders if this is the start of Sarah Palin preparing herself for a run for president in 2012? I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…I certainly hope it is."
Hillbuzz:
"If she can send liberals running and throw Dr. Utopia’s administration into total disarray by just posting 1,200 words at a time on Facebook, just imagine what she’ll stir up when her BOOK drops."
JammieWearingFool:
"The left may have a collective aneurysm by the time Going Rogue is released, and that's still not until November 17."
Amused Cynic:
"Hide your Maker’s Mark, this is going to push MoDo right off the edge she’s been teetering on for so long... I look forward to much wailing and gnashing of teeth."
More to come...

Palin Camp reponds to Schmidt slam: Wait for the book

Just off the CNN Political Ticker:
Sarah Palin is remaining silent about a sharp jab directed at her Friday by former John McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt, who predicted that a potential Palin presidential bid in 2012 would be "catastrophic."

A spokeswoman for the former Alaska governor said Palin is holding her fire until her new book is released next month.

"The governor will write about all of this in her book," Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton said in an e-mail, referring to the internal fighting that marred the final weeks of McCain's president bid. "There will be plenty of time to talk about it then."
Steve Schmidt's mismanagement of the McCain campaign was nothing less than catastrophic, so his political advice is pretty much worth a share of Chrysler common stock right now.

At The Conservative Comeback, Schmidt conjures up images of George Costanza.

Our contribution to the Sarah Palin Automotivator photo meme:

Karma

Update: Rush has some advice for Schmidt and the rest of the McCain crowd:
Does the name Steve Schmidt ring a bell to anybody out there? Steve Schmidt was the campaign manager for John McCrazy -- McCain! -- in the presidential campaign in 2008. Steve Schmidt has told the Huffington Post that Sarah Palin in 2012 would be a "catastrophe for the GOP." This is one of the things that I was asked to comment on by a member of the State-Controlled Media today, and here's what I wrote back: "I think it's time for the McCain crowd to acknowledge that they're losers and pack it in. They've done enough damage to the Republican Party already. Move aside. Let a brighter, more principled, and more competent generation of people clean up the mess that the McCain people helped create," and that is exactly where we are right now. And now McCain, it is reported today, is trying to work behind the scenes to find candidates like himself to remake the Republican Party in a moderate, center sort of way. I guess Schmidt talking to the Huffing and Puffington Post is part of that mix, saying that Palin in 2012 would be a catastrophe for the GOP. Why would anybody listen to McCain? It would be like the Democrats taking advice from Dukakis. What in the world...? This is just more and more of the left trying to pick our candidates like they picked McCain, and it's time to stop that garbage. So there! That's my answer to it.

A familiar metaphor

*
Robert Ringer, in an op-ed titled "Wile E. Obama vs. Road Runner Beck" uses a metaphor which we find familiar:
Remember how BHO got down in the mud with Sarah Palin almost immediately after she was announced as John McCain's running mate? It took a good week before his handlers got him to settle down and realize that he was running against McCain, not Palin.

Slow learner as he may be, to his credit, BHO finally demonstrated the self-discipline to ignore the dynamic and magnetic governor of Alaska and refocus on his hapless presidential opponent, John McCain.

Nevertheless, his childish bickering with a beautiful, charismatic woman whose political experience dwarfed the darling of community organizers reminded me of Wile E. Coyote and his eternal nemesis, Road Runner. And after eight months in office, it's clear that BHO is still susceptible to falling into the Palin Trap – not necessarily with Sarah Palin, but with anyone who annoys him.

Nary a day goes by when he does not lash out at his enemies in his trademark crybaby style. And when it results in a drop in his poll numbers, you can almost hear the words "Beep! Beep!" in the air. Now, BHO is caught in the Palin Trap once again, fighting a war he cannot win – a war with Fox News, the most influential media outlet on the planet.

[...]

Would BHO survive a Chris Wallace or Bill O'Reilly interview? It depends upon how intent they would be on insisting that he answer their questions in a no-spin manner. But, either way, it would not spare BHO from the biggest Palin Trap of all – the progressives' worst nightmare – an ex-alcoholic, ex-drug addict, ex-financial failure, ex-rodeo clown and current Road Runner Supreme, Glenn Beck.
Yes, we've been there, only with Sarah Palin as the roadrunner and the ACRID bloggers all as Wyle E. Coyote clones, in a post from early in August. Like all of Wyle E's stunts, the one the ACRID bloggers pulled which resulted in Sarah Palin resigning from her position as governor of Alaska boomeranged on the critters, as she is on a heck of a winning streak. Palin delivered a well-received (and well-paying) foreign policy address in Asia, co-wrote a book and is now enjoying the satisfaction of having watched as in less than 48 hours, it raced to the top of the bestseller charts. The initial run of 1.5 million copies hasn't even gone to the printers yet!

The metaphor works well for a variety of scenarios, but there's one constant -- the scheming Leftists always seem to fit the crash-and-burn Wyle E. Coyote profile.

Chicago is out? Chicago is out? Next time send Sarah.

Dan Riehl has a suggestion:
Would it really have made sense to award the Olympics to a country when the most visible advocates for the United States are on record as having spent much of their lives not being proud of their country? I mean, if they've been so ashamed of America for so long, what kind of country must it be?

Next time, perhaps they should consider relying on advocates who truly are proud of America and like her just the way she's been. Yes, Sarah Palin does come to mind just now.
Amen, brother.

Revenge of the 'Cuda: Who's laughing now?

This just in from American Thinker's C. Edmund Wright:
Now correct me if I am wrong, but didn't I hear the Jurassic media bury the career of Sarah Palin just last July? And weren't they joined in this mockery by the so-called conservative elites like David Brooks and Karl Rove and Joe Scarborough and so on?

Wasn't Mo Dowd just delirious in fact that the wicked witch (of her world) was dead?

You betcha.

Well, just who is looking out of touch and foolish now? Hint: It isn't the Killa from Wasilla. And yes, I think that is her Brinks Truck in fact. One of them anyway.

The temptation here is to rub the seven million dollar book advance in the face of all her naysayers -- then add that the book is coming out early and in fact breaking all kinds of sales records though not even edited yet. But we won't do that for Mo's sake.

Another temptation is to chide the Jurassics and the elites who were snickering at the thought she could command the six figures fees the big boys get for speaking engagements -- with the reports that she is currently sifting through some eleven hundred offers. Cha-ching. We won't make a big deal over that either. It might make Colin Powell blush.

What is the real story here is that given a set of singularly difficult circumstances, Governor Palin made a counter-intuitive and gutsy decision that has already proven right for all parties involved. We call that brilliance. We call that effective leadership.
And you can read the rest of the story right here.

Enjoy!

Sarah Palin Was Right #9: Letterman Is a Disgusting Pervert

Then:
"Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin took a second swipe at David Letterman on Wednesday, calling the CBS 'Late Show' host’s jokes about one of her daughters 'disgusting' and 'sexually perverted.'"
Now:
"As for the affairs with staff members and the damage done to his family, though, you can’t be too surprised given Letterman’s contempt for women."
Liberals defended Letterman's crude, misogynistic attacks on Sarah Palin and her daughter, saying that it wasn't that big a deal. The same liberals are defending Roman Polanski for his admitted rape and sodomizing of a 13-year-old girl, saying "It wasn't rape-rape," and "But it was so long ago."

Does the Left's idea of an ideal society sound like the world you want your children and grandchildren to grow up in?

Meet blogger Liberty Belle

The Liberty Pen is a blog which features interviews of other bloggers, and the interview with the Liberty Belle caught our attention. Here are a couple of Sarah Palin-related excerpts from the interview:
LP: There seems to be a surge in personal blogs that center around political thought, how would you differentiate your blog from other blogs?

LB: When I write I like to make sure my writing isn't just generic political vomit. I know there are thousands of political blogs out there, and thousands of conservatives all talking about the most recent political outrage, so I like to bring my unique point of view, my unique experiences and share those. Especially since I'm young, I think it's more interesting for the older readers to see conservatism from a young point of view. I'm also an Alaskan, so the Sarah Palin controversy is very close to home. It's one of the issues that first sparked me to come out as a conservative. Let me tell you, Palin-bashing was my liberal college friend's favorite activity last year.

[...]

LP: Who is your favorite political leader and why?

LB: Of all time, I would have to say George Washington. Having learned about the man and his hand in our nation's birth, I am very awed to live in a country with such incredible Founders. I would be thrilled to meet any of the Founders, but it is certainly a special place to have occupied the first presidency of this great nation.

Of more recent times, I am of course a fan of Ronald Reagan. I think right now Sarah Palin is my favorite political leader. She understands corruption that occurs in government and is unafraid to remove it at the root. She says what she believes, doesn't coat it in syrupy rhetoric, and loves this country (which is more than I think I can say about some political leaders...). I am glad that she doesn't do things the conventional way. The conventional way is straight corruption.
Interesting concept at The Liberty Pen, and the Liberty Belle is an interesting blogger. Read the full interview here.

Rush talks about Sarah for third day in a row

Some excerpts from Thursday's Rush Limbaugh Show:
"Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin this week will begin accepting and rejecting the more than 1,070 invitations she has received for paid speeches and political appearances since she resigned from office, aides said. Twenty speakers’ bureaus made offers to represent her. ... More than 950 requests for speeches have poured in for Palin, and over 120 candidates for office have asked her to appear, including folks running for Senate, House and state Legislature, aides said." It was just yesterday, Page Six in the New York Post ran a story from an unidentified source who said that nobody wants her. She's a blithering idiot. People are afraid to book her. She can't get request to do a speech. They're asking a hundred grand for speeches she can't get one invitation. There's a story last night from the mainstream media. Not even the mainstream media was buying it you don't get a $7 million advance from a liberal publishing company if nobody wants you.

And then the latest news: "A publishing industry source [said] that they 'cannot remember a non-fiction book taking off like this in the pre-order market. It became number one only a couple of hours after nothing more than a date announcement. It is truly unprecedented.'" "Two days after the release date of Sarah Palin's book was announced, it's already become the top seller at both Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com," and it hasn't even gone to press yet, or maybe it's at press now. "Palin's publisher announced Monday that the former governor of Alaska and Republican vice presidential candidate had finished her memoir, 'Going Rogue: An American Life,' early and was moving the release date up from the spring to November 17. A Palin source told POLITICO that she 'is very grateful' for the strong early sales.

"'This book has taken off like a rocket,' the source said. HarperCollins will print 1.5 million copies for the book's first run, the same number that was printed for late Sen. Ted Kennedy's," whose I think the first week that book sold 68,000, Beck was twice that and now Sarah Palin's book."

Going Rogue Cover Revealed

Update: HarperCollins has finally got its Sarah Palin pages together. The publisher's book description is here, and a brief Palin bio is here.

Why so anxious, Senator?

Via the Hill's Blog Briefing Room and Michael O'Brien:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's (R) inevitable stories about disagreements within last fall's presidential campaign worry Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) the most, the senator said Thursday.

The former Republican presidential nominee said he is looking forward to his running mate's book overall, except for potential revelations of infighting with the campaign that was long rumored, and in fact alluded to in the title of Palin's new memoir, "Going Rogue."

[...]

He praised his former running mate as qualified to be president one day, adding: "Yes, I think Sarah Palin will play a significant role in the Republican Party in the future."
Actually, we don't think McCain has much to be worried about. Sarah Palin has always been loyal to her former running mate, and we doubt that she would open a can of Angry Mama Bear on the Senator. Besides, she has always kept Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment.

Some of McCain campaign underlings, however, may not and should not, in our opinion, escape the wrath of Sarah. Not only do they deserve to be called out for their back-stabbing of the former governor who was their vice-presidential candidate, they cannot be trusted to work for another political campaign, period.

MarketWatch: Sarahmania "could start up again"

With the announcement that the release date for Sarah Palin's book had been moved up, MarketWatch observed that "Sarah Palin-mania could start up again" (Gee, ya think? - JP):

What's noteworthy here is the commercial potential of Palin's aura.

[...]

If the book flies off shelves at the stores, we will know -- for sure -- that Palin has commercial appeal, too. That's when you'll see the media lining up to ask her to host television and radio programs. And Palin-mania will once again go full throttle.
"Look out if her upcoming book flourishes," says MarketWatch. Uh, don't look now, MW, but it appears to be flourishing even before it gets to the printers. Going Rogue: An American Life is already number one at both Amazon and Barnes & Noble, based on a couple of days of pre-orders alone.

Reaction to 'Going Rogue'

With more great quotes:

Pamela Geller:
"Yes, I want to see this baby fly off the shelves. Ah, a book with a spine."
Chandler Epp:

"The Katie Couric-debating, elk-shooting Caribou Barbie that liberals love to hate has nearly a million followers on Facebook. Who’s the rocket scientist now?"

Melissa Clouthier:
"No one cares what she thinks. Except for the millions of people putting her on the best sellers list weeks in advance."
Weasel Zippers:
"Lefty seethe-O-meter readings are going to be off the charts."
Jimmie Bise:
"Plenty of left-wingers are going to want to comb through it as well, to find ammunition to use in their attacks. That’s good news for her, too. Not only will it put money in her pocket, but it will reaffirm that she is still the person progressives fear the most."
RightWingSparkle:
"I think America understands now how if the left is truly afraid of someone politically, they will go after their children, their husband, and anyone associated with them. They will repeat lie after lie."
Dan Riehl:
"Yeah, the Left will have to spend time and energy rationalizing this away, while also defending child rapist Roman Polanski."
Peter W. Schramm:
"Last night I noticed that CNN was making fun of Sarah Palin and her book... how absurd it was for her publisher to have a first printing of a million and a half copies, and so on... Today I noticed that it is already Number Two on Amazon."
Allahpundit:
"Forty-eight days before the release and she’s already topped Dan Brown’s latest conspiracy-theory casserole at both top retailers. To put that in perspective, note that the book doesn’t even have a cover yet. So much for the Page Six hit piece about demand for her being slack."
Vick Mickunas:
"The book doesn’t even have cover art yet. Wow! The Palin book is kicking some you know what."
Vicki McClure Davidson:
"Dear hate-filled liberals, Please continue to attack Palin and her book. It won’t be released until November 17, but the more negative publicity it gets from you and the fringe media before it’s even read, the better for sales. That’s free word-of-mouth publicity, baby, the very best kind."
Jim Lynch:
"Outselling The Swimmer? That’s got to hurt."
Daley Gator:
"So, if you hear a loud POP, that is just Keith Olbermann’s head exploding, no biggie. It is not like there is much in his head anyway."
Joshuapundit:

"The vile attacks on a plain spoken, decent woman from Alaska and her family by the cretins on the Left is simply a reflection of how deeply they fear her. As I predicted, targeting her and her family and driving her out of office is the worst mistake they ever made."
