Weigel: Palin Facebook post is 'despicable'

Perhaps the only thing even more creepy than Joe McGinniss moving all the way from Massachusetts to fifteen feet from Sarah Palin's house in Alaska to stalk her are the reactions of Ben Smith and Dave Weigel to Gov. Palin's Facebook post about McGinness' extreme exodus. Weigel, a liberal, was hired by the Washington Post to blog about the conservative movement and the GOP, two things he doesn't have the first clue about.

At leftist Politico, Smith characterized the Palin attitude toward the stalker next door as "a recurring preoccupation", while Weigel, at his WaPo blog "Right Now," went even deeper into left field, saying the governor's post about being creeped out by McGinniss' obsession with her was "strange, unprofessional and paranoid."

Say what?

Jim Treacher, in a Daily Caller op-ed, schools Smith and Weigel:

I don’t know if Ben Smith or Dave Weigel have any kids, but I wonder how they’d put up with the sorts of things that have been said about the Palin family. I wonder how Ben Smith or Dave Weigel would like it if some jerk moved in right next door to them for the express purpose of writing a book about them. I wonder if Ben Smith or Dave Weigel would think their concern for the safety and privacy of their own children was “despicable” or a “preoccupation.”

I’m guessing they wouldn’t.

Anyone who doesn't recognize what McGinniss has done as obsessive and more than just a little scary needs professional help.

Has the son of an elected Democrat official ever hacked into Mitt Romney's e-mail account and posted the contents on the internet?

Has anyone ever set fire to Mike Huckabee's church while there were people inside the building? If someone had done such a "vile and vicious" thing, would they have gotten away with it scot free?

Have "vile and vicious" lies ever been spread by the nutroots left that Bobby Jindal and his wife both had affairs and they were going to get a divorce?

How many trumped-up "ethics" complaints have been filed against Mitch Daniels?

How many t-shirts have been printed up with "Carly Fiorina is a c__t" printed on them?

Has Andrew Sullivan ever pushed a conspiracy theory claiming Lynne Cheney is not the mother of any of her children, but that she is actually the grandmother and her husband is the father?

Has it ever been claimed that Gov. Butch Otter hates animals and shoots wolves from helicopters? When has Gov. Jan Brewer ever been accused of making porn movies? How about Gov. John Hoeven? Has he been accused of calling President Obama "Sambo"? Do late-night "comics" ever joke that Gov. Linda Lingle can see China from her house? When has the claim ever been made that Gov. Rick Perry has a meth lab in his house?

We could go on like this for hours, Ms.Parker, but we hope you get the point. Alas, we're not sure if you can manage to get the point.

Given the points that we've made, do you still maintain that Sarah Palin's experience is "not unique"? If so, then your obsessive disdain for Sarah Palin can't be excused by your ignorance.

How obsessed is The Left over Sarah Palin? Olbermann Watch, a website that keeps track of the loony leftist so we don't have to watch Keith Olbermann's "Meltdown" program on MSDNC (Thanks, folks!), regularly examines keyword transcripts of his show. 

A keyword search of the transcripts reveals that Bathtub Boy mentioned Sarah Palin no less than 56 times in the five day period from September 21st through the 25th. That's over 11 times in each one-hour program.

That's obsessed.

To show how obsessed the Old Media is over Governor Palin, now CNN has a story on its website ruminating over what Sarah isn’t doing. It seems that she can’t get away from the Old Media even by doing nothing. First they lose their minds over what she is doing, and then when she stops doing something, they go ga ga over that, too.

This time Eric Kuhn, CNN’s “Audience Interaction Producer” -- what ever the heck that is -- is all caught up over if and when Sarah will re-launch her Twitter account. “Is Palin getting ready to tweet again?,” Khun breathlessly asked on the 13th.

Listen, we all love Sarah, but is this actually news?

(CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin changed her Twitter account on Thursday to @SarahPalinUSA, abandoning her old username @AKGovSarahPalin.

There has been much speculation about when Palin would begin tweeting again. Since leaving office in July, Palin has been silent on Twitter and has primarily used Facebook to communicate with the public.

No tweets have yet been sent from her new Twitter account.

More than 135,000 people currently follow Palin on Twitter. Those who followed her official gubernatorial account do not have to re-subscribe to her new name. Twitter users who change their names maintain their followers.

It’s like CNN is lying in wait for her every move. In fact, this hyper media attention is one of the reasons that Governor Palin stepped down as governor because this undue attention was preventing her from doing her job as governor.

I mean, come on. They are even reporting when she’s NOT doing anything. It is just a surreal situation, isn’t it?

Former Huckabee campaign manager Chip Saltzman told Fox News' Martha MacCallum that Sarah Palin's farewell address Sunday "was the first speech of the 2012 primary season. That was a campaign stump speech." Looking ahead, Saltzman said that "If your're gonna put together a presidential campaign this early out, you've got to decide when's your first trip to Iowa, because once she's done that, the media whirlwind starts up again." We're wondering... when did it ever die down?

MoveOn.org proved that it can't do what its name implies by launching a new ad calling Palin "the new face of Republican opposition to clean energy." Never mind that as governor of Alaska, Palin tirelessly advocated for her state's natural gas resources, and natgas burns cleaner than coal, heating oil, gasoline and -- yes, moonbats -- it even burns cleaner than ethanol or biodiesel. Also never mind that Palin called for having fully half of Alaska's electricity generated by renewable resources by the year 2020. What good are facts when lying leftist Democrats are hell bent on destroying Sarah Palin?

On Fox's Cavuto program, author and former Bush webmaster Jane Hampton Cook answered host Neil Cavuto's question by saying that Sarah Palin could indeed "pull off another Reagan" to get to the White House if she will "put forward her ideas on energy policy, on taxes, on health care."

Focus group guru Frank Lutz told Sean Hannity on FNC, "Whenever you go after the media it means that you're not going away... I think it's pretty clear that she's going to be a candidate for 2012." Luntz said Palin's farewell address was "a perfect stump speech for someone's who's looking at what's going to happen three years from now."

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty twice refused to take Geraldo Rivera's bait to diss Palin on FNC, calling her "a friend and a colleague and somebody I've worked with on a number of issues." T-Paw graciously said, "I don't think she's been ruled out or should be ruled out of future government service."

Leftist tool Bill Mahr went on CNN to voice his opinion to Wolf Blitzer that even Sarah Palin could have a future in politics "in this stupid country" -- which angered even CNN's mostly Democrat Obama-loving viewers, many of whom called or e-mailed in protest.

Sustitute hosting on MSNBC, sexist clown Donny Deutsch opined that the media's fascination with Palin is due to her sex appeal. Double-D probably blew the guest shot, but with MSogynist-NBC, you can never be sure. Especially considering all the sexist tripe Chris Matthews and his good buddy Howard Fineman have gotten away with there.

CNN invited Mitt's consultant Alex Castellanos on to take some gratuitous shots at Sarah Palin, and that he did. The Romney surrogate parroted the DNC talking point that Palin "abandoned her state" and likened her to Mike Huckabee as a dreaded socon who would win the GOP nomination, but not the general election.

I guess there's no relief in sight
Everybody better be resigned

Speaking of Huckleberry Spinn, the former Aransas governor, pinch hitting for regular host Bill O'Reilly on the Factor, moderated a round between Democratic strategist Matthew Littman and GOP Strategist Amanda Carpenter, who put up a weak defense of the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee against Littman's rabbit punches and below the belt blows. After Littman called Palin "an incredibly dishonest politician -- perhaps the most dishonest politician on the national stage since Nixon," Carpenter didn't even take the wide open opportunity to point out that Barack Obama has turned the lion's share of his campaign promises into lies. Huckabee did a better job of defending Palin than Carpenter, who should stick to the printed word. It's a shame that Judy Silver wasn't  in Carpenter's chair for that segment.

Back at PMSNBC, Nora Odonnell was all snark as she slammed Sarah, saying Palin's farewell address was just a platform for the former governor "to yell at" O'Donnell's beloved in-the-tank-for-Obama media. O'Donnell was sarcastic all through her attack, which is Nora's norm when she's commenting on Sarah.

La la la la...

Sarah Palin finally got a little media love from Fox News' Andrea Tantaros and Julia Banderas, who agreed that the now former governor knows how to fight back against the media.

Bill O'Reilly explained Sarah Palin's appeal as something so down to earth the media moonbats just can't figure it out: "Regular folks like regular folks." The elite media, said O'Reilly, "just can't let go of her."

Media to Sarahcuda: "I just can't quit you"

The Pew Research Center has published a report by from its Project for Excellence in Journalism which shows that the third most frequently reported story was the media non-stop chattering over the July 3 announcement by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin that she will resign before the end of the month. The report says she "may now be a cultural figure as well as a political one":

Palin's resignation proved to be fodder for the politically-oriented talk-show circuit. Questions about her motives and future plans -- along with widely divergent opinions of the governor -- filled 19% of the airtime studied last week on the 13 radio and cable news talk shows in the News Coverage Index.

The media themselves became part of the story... The Palin storyline featured a theme that she herself has pushed -- from the outset of her appearance in the campaign and around her resignation -- that an unfair and unfriendly media corps has hounded the governor and her family.

Pew says that Gov. Palin was the number one topic on talk radio and the number two subject of prime-time cable television talk show chatter. Much of the discussion consisted of speculation about why she is resigning, despite the fact that the governor explained that a constant string of politically-motivated "ethics" complaints had excessively burdened the executive branch of her state's government in terms of time and money:

A July 6 ABC News story posted on Google News referenced the "many lingering questions" about the move. "On many blogs ... speculation ran rampant that a scandal is coming or that another shoe will drop. But no evidence of anything more than rehashed rumors has appeared so far."

In addition to the Palin guessing game, some of the narrative defaulted to a more polarizing and politicized view of the former vice-presidential candidate, with critics attacking Palin and supporters attacking the media.

On his July 8 MSNBC show, liberal Keith Olbermann declared that, "It appears to be Gov. Palin's main activity ... even with two full weeks left in office -- posting to her Twitter page."

"Twitter," he said, "rhymes with quitter."

On his July 6 radio show, conservative Sean Hannity trained his guns on the press treatment of Palin, declaring it "a media ... onslaught" and "media bashing" of the governor.

"Of all the lines of argument concerning her resignation as governor," he declared, "there was none more disingenuous than ‘well, she abandoned her post.'" Citing another commentator, Hannity noted that various politicians had left office early, including Obama who didn't serve out his term as senator when elected president.
