Coincidence? Big Media hypes four bogus Palin "scandals" in one week

*
It's been a busy week for the hit squads attempting to destroy Sarah Palin. In the past seven days, no less than four bogus Palin-centered "scandals" have been manufactured by the nutroots Left and promoted by the state-run media. Three of these have been cataloged on one post on Free Republic:

Socialized Sarah:

During a speech Gov. Palin delivered in Calgary, she mentioned that as a 6-year-old child, her family crossed the border to seek medical care for her brother in Canada.

The media and the lefty bloggers claim that Sarah Palin is a hypocrite, as if a six-year-old made the decision to seek emergency care for her brother to treat a burned foot.

Though some media outlets later correct the story and put it context, the leftists are still howling about it on their websites.

Say anything and C4P are getting the truth out.

Planet Alaska:

Gossip sites falsely report that Palin is pitching a proposed docu-drama series about Alaska to the networks. Sarah Palin and members of her family would allegedly be portrayed in various locations around Alaska.

Reuters and other statist media outlets pick it up and run with it. By now, the docu-drama has become a "reality" show, and numerous sites such as Mediaite hysterically claim that Gov. Palin wants to promote herself and her children using a lowbrow television series.

To their credit, some media outlets report the truth. The former governor, Mark Burnett and Robert Barnett were in L.A. meeting with network heads pitching a documentary about Alaska. A source close to the governor states that the proposes series is not a reality show, nor will it be about her or her family. It is rather about the people, geography, wildlife and wonders of Alaska. The source says the focus of series would be on Alaska, and it will be similar to a nature series on the Discovery Channel:
"It will not be focused on the Palin family, Alaska is going to be the star," the source said. "It will be more ‘Planet Earth’ than 'The Osbournes go North.'"

A Swarm of Locusts:

This one apparently started when an E-online gossip reporter claimed that Gov. Palin and her entourage descended upon an Oscar gift suite "like locusts," Greedily plundering swag, making unreasonable demands on everyone and generally behaving badly.

Other gossip sites latch onto the false story. Huffington Post and other liberal blogs spread it across the Leftosphere, and the state-run media also runs with it without bothering to do any fact-checking.

But at least a couple of entertainment reporters report correctly that Gov. Palin made a $1,700 donation to the Red Cross and donated all of the swag (save one item) she had been given to charity. Silver Spoon co-owner Melissa Lemer released a statement detailing the true story of Governor Palin's visit.

Canned Lies:

Mediaite, citing a dKos contributor and purveyor of an anti-Palin book as a source, claims that during Sarah Palin's appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, NBC sound technicians played canned laughter soundtracks to give the impression that she was being well-received by the audience. The source says that she didn't go over well on the show.

The usual leftist blogging suspects spread the claims like wildfire, many of them headlining their posts to claim that Gov. Palin was "a flop" on Leno's show. As usual, the statist Big Media simply took the rantings from the leftist websites and spread them around the world.

But others who were in the audience that night dispute the claim, saying that the audience laughed at Gov. Palin's jokes and applauded in all the right places. Further, NBC issues a statement denying that any audio enhancement were made for her appearance. And the ratings for Leno's show that night are high, proving that Sarah Palin was anything but a flop.

Are we the only ones who detect a pattern here? Big Media is taking bogus reports right off of gossip columns and leftist blogs and reporting them as news.  Everytime you think the once-honorable Fourth Estate couldn't become more corrupt, it sinks even lower into the septic tank.

Early Reaction: Sarah Palin on The Tonight Show

*
Andrew Malcolm:
Sarah Palin popped up on Jay Leno's revived NBC "Tonight Show" tonight and poked a little fun at herself by writing Jay's introduction cue notes on her hand.

[...]

Palin also did her debut standup routine as a comedian:
Hello. Thank you, Jay. Thank you. I'm so happy to get to be here. This is a thrill of ...a lifetime really. And Alaska, being so different from Los Angeles. Here when people have a frozen look on their face, I find out it's Botox. (Laughter.)

It is so beautiful here, though, so warm and beautiful. Back home, ooh, it was freezing. It was 5 degrees belowCongress' approval rating.....

Shaun White on the show. Oh, what an amazing athlete. I watched him do a double McTwist 1260, and the only other people to do a double McTwist 1260 was last week: the White House on healthcare.
She'll be here through 2012, folks.
Free Republic live thread (with pics):
On the media’s treatment of her children:
"I think, yes, that a line was crossed there. And I’m still waiting for that line to be uncrossed. Just some common decency, allowing the kids to not be the — I guess kind of a victim in all this, because they certainly don’t deserve it. I have very strong, independent, well-adjusted kids. And I so respected that the media had left other politicians’ kids alone. I would just ask for the same treatment."
On the Tea Party movement:
"It is an uprising of the people — (Applause) — an uprising of the people to say, 'Hey, Government, we are not to be working for you. You are to be working for us. Let’s get government back on our side.' So heaven forbid the Tea Party movement think that they need an individual, a politician to put their faith in, to be their leader."

Sarah Palin's one-liners on Leno's show

*
Sarah Palin, during the taping for the new "Tonight Show" on NBC, had almost as many one-liners as host Jay Leno dropped in his monologue:
Palin says the White House health care plan reminds her of acrobatic flips done on a snowboard. And she jokes that it's so cold in Alaska it's "5 degrees below Congress' approval rating."

And she poked fun at herself too.

Palin told Leno's audience she planned to speak at a gun-rights convention and warned them, "Be there or else."
The 2008 GOP vioe presidential nominee also joked that she's going to play Tina Fey in an upcoming Las Vegas show.

Kevin Fobbs: Millions will witness Sarah Palin as a true heartland comeback on Leno

*
In an op-ed published on Renew America's website, Kevin Fobbs, president of the National Urban Policy Action Council, says even her detractors realize that Gov. Palin "just might have the right stuff to stir a nation much in the same way that Ronald Reagan" did thirty years ago:
Sitting down to watch The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Sarah Palin is an event that perhaps lends itself to a degree of preparation as well as creating a comfortable setting. After all it was just over a year earlier when a new president had been sworn in and many in the upper elite of the liberal Washington punditry felt Sarah Palin had been summarily dismissed from our national consciousness...or so they wished.

Now a year-plus later, "Sarah Who" is now "Sarah Wow." Like President Reagan who rose from the wreckage of the 1976 battle with then-President Gerald Ford to capture the White House and recapture the soul of America thirsting for change and clarity, Jay Leno will host and America will witness on Tuesday night Sarah Palin as a true heartland comeback.
Fobbs' recommendations for Tonight Show prep are in his full opinion piece here.

Related: Leno doubled Letterman's  ratings among adults 18-49, last night, with a 2.0 share vs a 1.0 share for Dirty Dave. Will Gov. Palin drive Leno's numbers even higher tonight? Stay tuned...

Sarah Palin to Guest on Second Night of Leno’s New Tonight Show

*
From Mediaite:
Leno is back with all new Tonight Shows starting one week from today, and the guest list is a mix of Olympics stars, celebrities, and yes, a very well-known former VP candidate.

Jamie Foxx and Lindsey Vonn are on night #1, while Palin is a guest Tuesday night. This isn’t Palin’s first Tonight Show appearance – she made a cameo on the Conan O’Brien version (with William Shatner) in a hilarious bit in December. One show she probably won’t be showing up on – the new (old) head-to-head Leno competitor, Late Show with David Letterman.
The first week's guest lineup for the newest revision of The Tonight Show is here.

Michael Tremoglie: Sophisticated Sarah

*
Michael P. Tremoglie, on his blog Tremoglie's Tea Time, remarks that Sarah Palin showed a lot of style in her appearance last week with William Shatner on the Conan O’Brien Show. But he says that she demonstrated an even deeper quality:
She has a certain manner, an allure, a je ne sais quoi, about her that has endeared her to a wide swath of the American public in a short period of time. She is upsetting a lot of apple carts and the entrenched politicos resent it. They have directed their fire at her.

Indeed, Palin has weathered a torrent of vitriol. While her primary critics are liberal Democrats, the bien-pensants of both parties fear and loathe her.

This was evinced recently by Michael Petrilli’s hortatory article in the December 14 Wall Street Journal. Petrilli’s haughty piece titled, “Whole Foods Republicans,” had this to say about Gov. Palin, “…there's Sarah Palin, whose entire brand is anti-intellectual.”

Petrilli’s remarks about Palin’s supporters echoed what liberals have said about military personnel in Iraq (Kerry: “you get stuck in Iraq”) and the audience of the Limbaugh show. It repeats what the left claims is a characteristic of conservative Christians (“uneducated and easily led”) or Middle America (“clinging to their guns and religion”).

[...]

Yet, Gov. Palin has run the gauntlet of ridicule from David Letterman – moral icon that he is – to Michael Petrilli. Despite the scorn hurled at Palin’s intellect and that of her advocates, she continues to be poised. She exhibits the grace and sophistication of many famous women, past and present.

There is no denying it. Palin is part Hepburn, part Loren, part Moore, Thatcher, part Condoleeza Rice and a little Annie Oakley throw in for good measure.
Tremoglie's full post is here, but cover up! Liberal heads exploding in 5... 4... 3... 2...

Sarah Palin's Post About Her Tonight Show Appearance

*
Sarah Palin posted a brief message on her Facebook Notes page this morning, saying how much she enjoyed last night's skit on The Tonight Show. She also expressed her pride in the Wounded Warriors and working with radio host Laura Ingraham to raise money for their cause:
The Tonight Show Last Night

The Conan visit was fun – the best part was that we had Wounded Warriors with us in the audience. I can’t express how proud I am of their courage and patriotism.

I’m extremely happy that Laura Ingraham had the great idea to put the simple coat from the cover of my book to good use. It’s being auctioned to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the Fisher House. Laura pulled it all together with a live auction that continues through December 18th. Click here to see the auction and God Bless the U.S.A!

Former Gov. Palin also posted photos from the green room taken before last night's skit. They can be viewed here.

Jim Hoft:
"Sarah Palin Stole the Show Tonight – The former Alaskan Governor made a surprise appearance on The Tonight Show and went rogue on William Shatner."
