Allen West for U.S. Senate 2012

Thank you, John Cornyn
*
And here we were beginning to think that one of Texas' great embarassments, Sen. John Cornyn was good for nothing. But the Senator, by virtue of his latest numbskull undertaking, has caused us to rethink that assessment. According to a report at The Hill, Cornyn tried to recruit Vichy Republican and MSPDS hack Joe Scarborough to challenge Florida Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012. Of all the harebrained things Cornyn has done, this one pegs the needle on the Outrage-O-Meter.

Clinical Law Professor William A. Jacobson is just one of the many voices rising in opposition this morning to Cornyn's latest act of RINOcery, opining on his Le·gal In·sur·rec·tion blog:
It is bad enough when the NRSC backs milquetoasty RINOs like Charlie Crist.

But recruiting a founding member of the No Labels group is a step way too far. Joe Scarborough already said he wanted no part of you, what don't you understand about "no labels"?

And recruiting someone who is out front in proving he can bash Sarah Palin harder than any Democrat will lead to a revolt and schism in the party...

[...]

If John Cornyn wants to rip this party apart, then he has found the way. Does he want our energy and money devoted to stopping a GOP senatorial candidate, or stopping Barack Obama?
Prof. Jacobson asked his readers for their suggestions on who is the next Marco Rubio in Florida, and a commenter named freshman Rep. Allen West of the 22nd Congressional District. Sounds like a winner to us. Thought Col. West would be a formidable running mate for Sarah Palin in 2012, he is probably needed more in the U.S. Senate.

So Cornyn is good for something, after all. He's got us interested in the 2012 Florida GOP primary race for U.S. Senate and determined to defeat whatever Vichy Republican he and his corrupt NRSC will back. We have every confidence that if Col West chooses to accept that mission, he will successfully carry it out. Now to find a primary challenger to take on Cornyn here in Texas for 2014...

Marxists use same attacks on both Allen West and Sarah Palin

- by VotingFemale

Like Governor Sarah Palin,
Congressman Allen West has joined the Battle

So Fill Your Hands
You Marxist America-Hating S_Bs

Marxist NBC Trots out their Anti-Conservative Scumbaggery

Congressman-Elect Allen West is as much a nightmare for snake oil Marxists as Sarah Palin. They are both coming for these enemies of Americans and THEY MEAN BUSINESS. These Marxists are frightened out of their total wits.

Folks... if you thought the Marxist-Leftist Junkyard Dog attacks on Sarah Palin was below the belt, they are just warming up on powerful political figures on the right. That they focused their personal attacks almost exclusively on Sarah Palin over the past two years is their admission of guilt at failing to connect with the majority of America... thus they seek to demonize us all directly and indirectly. Sarah Palin is the Mother Lode of Anti-Marxism Kryptonite and they know it in spades. Now she has company, which includes Congressman Allen West.

These scumbagger Marxists have no real reason to fear weaklings on the Conservative side of the equation... and they have their progressive friends RINOs on the right as well. Did you observe them rallying around Lisa Murkowski [R-AK] against Joe Miller?

RINOs are their not-so-secret backstabbing weapons and have stabbed Americans in the back yet again today:

Watch what these Marxists do to smear Congressman Allen West.

Can you imagine a presidential ticket with both Sarah Palin and Allen West?

The heads of the Democrat Marxist Elitist Dragons would literally explode in one massive detonation, for they know all they have is snake oil to sell and/or shove down the throats of Americans who have woken up and kicked their Congressional Lamer A__es to hell and back.

Politico: Allen West rakes in $1.6M

*
Retired Army Lt. Col. Allen West announced last week that his congressional campaign against Rep. Ron Klein (D-FL) raised $1.6 million in third-quarter campaign funds, topping his second quarter total of $1.4 million:
The Republican has emerged as a fundraising powerhouse, raking in more than $5.4 million so far for his campaign. Klein, who has yet to announce his third-quarter figures, had raised $2.5 million though Aug. 4. West’s second-quarter takeaway was the highest of any GOP non-incumbent candidate so far.

In a statement announcing his haul, West noted that “over 97 percent of our donations have come from individual contributions." His campaign said the average contribution was about $78.
West has the support of Gov. Palin and the Tea Party movement.

What is it with Dems and Social Security numbers?

*
Why do Democrats have such a problem with their political opponents' Social Security numbers?

In 2005, two Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) employees illegally obtained Michael Steele's credit report when he was lieutenant governor of Maryland and a candidate for the U.S. Senate. The opposition researchers, Katie Barge and Lauren Weiner, found Steele's Social Security number in a court document and used it to obtain his credit report.

In September, 2008, just days after she was named as John McCain's running mate, the Alaska Democratic Party's opposition research file on Sarah Palin -- including her social security number (minus the last four digits, but with her address and birth date -- was published by Politico, the Huffington Post and a number of other DNC-friendly sources. The document was put together in 2006 by Tony Knowles' gubernatorial campaign. Anita Dunn, a key Obama consultant in the 2008 presidential race, had worked on Knowles' 2006 campaign.

The Democrat's SSN fetish has not abated, and the pattern continues in 2010. The Florida Democrat Party sent out a September mailer that disclosed the Social Security number of Republican Alan West in the 22nd Congressional District race. and -- what a coincidence -- Lt. Col. West (US Army, Retired) carries the endorsement of none other than Sarah Palin:

Why do the Dems continue to try to use their GOP opponents' Social Security numbers as a political weapon? Two reasons. They are desperate (the race in FL-22 is a close one), and they are unethical.

Allen West: Remember the Voice of Rome, Marcus Tullius Cicero.

*
Gov Palin linked to this Allen West essay in a retweet:

The Voice from Rome
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it". George Santayana

"Those who fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it". Sir Winston Churchill

Greetings fellow bikers, South Floridians, and indeed all my fellow Americans who shall read this missive. It is again time for another venture into the realm of American politics. There is so much which I could easily assess but I think that right now we need a simple history lesson.

The lead quotes come from two Men who were visionary in those simple words which they left for us all. I find in being a student of history that most of the things a Nation, or sometimes individuals, experience can be traced back to some period in earlier times. I do believe that history does repeat itself in revolving cycles, due to the ignorance of those who refuse to study it.

As we analyze our most critical issue in America, truly the world, it comes down to economic/fiscal principles and policies. As a career military officer I remember the first books we were mandated to read as Second Lieutenants; Rommels, "Attacks" and Sun Tzu's, "Art of War". Later we read the strategic writings of Carl von Clausewitz, Jomini, and studied the campaigns of Alexander and Hannibal.

Why was that important?

During Operation Desert Shield/Storm the quick demise of the Iraqi Army came due to the tactic of envelopment. One of the earliest recorded uses of that tactic came during the Second Punic War of the Carthaginians against the Romans at the Battle of Cannae. It was conceived and executed by Hannibal.

It is therefore not too amazing that I was able to find a fundamental quote from ancient history which we shall use as a basis for this month's piece.

"The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome becomes bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance". Marcus Tullius Cicero, 55 BC

The budget should be balanced

It is amazing to me that we are in the 21st century in America and yet our federal government is operating without an authorized budget. This is one of the primary responsibilities of the House of Representatives. How many of us could run our households our businesses without a definitive budget to guide our resources, and especially maintain cognizance of expenditures? This is why we must have not only a budget but we must institute a balanced budget amendment for our federal government. This is the first step toward fiscal disciple and stopping the floodgates of wasteful government spending.

The treasury should be refilled

We are living under a guiding economic philosophy rooted in Keynesian theory, in other words, spend your way out of an economic morass. What that results in are insidious "stimulus" packages which all one needs to do is study Japan's recession to see that policy will only extend the periods of recession. Where taxation is lightest revenues increase and that is due to the unleashing of innovation, ingenuity, and investment. However, we are about to see the largest tax increase in American history as we allow the tax cuts to expire (and dont believe the liberal progressives as the expired cuts will affect every tax bracket). There will be an increase in dividends tax, increase in capital gains tax, the return of the death tax, the child tax credit will be cut in half, and the alternative minimum tax population will go from 4 to 28 million.

This is not how you refill the treasury, although Secretary Timothy "tax cheat" Geithner believes that printing more currency is a method. It will be the indomitable American entrepreneur, and small business leaders, who will restore long term economic growth, refilling of the treasury, in America. When public sector, government, compensations are double that of the private sector, the treasury will not be refilled.

Public debt should be reduced

I do not think we need to say too much on this; seeing that our curent national debt is somewhere near $14 Trillion. Every man, woman, and child in America would have to write a check for approximately $47K in order to erase this debt. The most troubling aspect is that a foreign nation holds much of that debt which adversely affects our foreign policy stance. This disease also finds itself permeating through our society where individual responsibility and accountability has become a forgotten premise. In the days of my parents we had "layaway", you did not get the commodity until you could afford it. This ideal needs to be resurrected....and the idea of gross deficit spending buried.

The arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled

We are witnessing the development of a Soviet style Politburo in America, led by ruling class political elites. One need only gaze upon Congressman Charlie Rangel, a poster child for term limits, to apply this lesson from Cicero. It was never the intent of our Founding Fathers to have create career politicians, they were meant to be servants, representatives. It was the intent of our founders that Americans of every walk of life would give of their time and talents to do the business of legislating for our Constitutional Republic.....then go home and live under those same laws.

And the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome becomes bankrupt

Just replace Rome and insert America as we are nearing that dubious description, fearfully so. While assigned in Afghanistan I saw the preeminent example of this just to the east in Pakistan. We are embroiled in failing nation-building strategies. We find ourselves assisting foreign militaries such as in Lebanon, where Hezbollah exists, and their training results in deaths of our Israeli Defense Force allies.......and we have curtailed support to the IDF, while providing fighter jets to Saudi Arabia.

America must develop a long term strategic vision, not election cycle soundbite policies, which promote our economic growth as an instrument of our national power.

People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance

Conservatives believe in providing a safety net for our citizens, liberals offer a hammock. To hear the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, state that, unemployment checks are a means to stimulate an economy and create jobs is laughable....ok, doggone scary. America is not about creating victims and expanding a dependent, entitlement class, yet that is where we find ourselves. We have a Congress, which under the control of Pelosi and the liberal progressives, has seen unemployment in America go from 4.7% in Jan 2007 to a high point this year of 9.8%. The public sector is not how we solve unemployment.

However, it must be clear to all in America that the goal of the liberal progressives is to have a majority of Americans wedded to government by subsistence or employment check...the end of the free market.

As our children prepare to head back to school, lets us learn some lessons and do our homework. Cicero also stated, "the more laws, the less justice" and Thomas Jefferson counseled, "a government that is big enough to give you everything you want, is also big enough to take it all away".

And all it takes is for every America to study Cordova and what happened there in 711 AD to understand the relevance to the present day acquiesence and submission some would allow.

We have a test coming up in America on Tuesday 2 November 2010, it may end up being our Final Exam.

Will we fail or pass with flying colors? The choice is yours, remember the Voice of Rome, Marcus Tullius Cicero.

Steadfast and Loyal,

LTC(R) Allen B West

How to make a Congressional campaign ad

*
Of course, it doesn't hurt to have earned a Bronze Star, a Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and one Valor Device, the Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, a Valorous Unit Award, an Air Assault Badge, a Parachutist Badge, a number of additional service medals and ribbons...

... and an endorsement from Sarah Palin.

Quote of the Day (July 12, 2010)

*
Paul Mirengoff at Power Line:
"Politico reporter Alex Isenstadt fails to explain why he considers [Allen] West bombastic. Instead, he notes that West has been endorsed by Sarah Palin and that a speech he gave at Tea Party event has received two million views on YouTube. Enough said, if you're a leftist writing for leftists. I heard West speak back in January. I found his talk compelling, patriotic and at times fiery, but not bombastic. In any case, there were no Greek pillars on the stage."

Post on Politics: Allen West collects $1.4M in Q2

*
According to The Palm Beach Post, the Palin-endorsed campaign of Congressional candidate Allen West in FL-22 raised $1.4 million during the second quarter of 2010:
That tops the campaign’s previous best quarter, which was $838,000 during the first three months of the year.

The totals mean West has collected a total of $3.5 million for his campaign and has $2.2 million on hand.
A very interesting coincidence - Gov. Palin gave Col. West her endorsement on March 29. The second quarter of the calendar year began only three days later.

Just sayin'...

A Palin-Perry presidential pairing for 2012? We don't see it.

*
The editors of the Longview News-Journal admit that it is early yet to be speculating on the 2012 presidential race, but they just can't resist the temptation:
Sarah Palin seems to have a big advantage on the GOP race with the momentum she picked up as Sen. John McCain's running mate in 2008. For Texans, perhaps the bigger question is whether yet another person with deep Lone Star roots may take a lead position on the national stage.

Gov. Rick Perry has a November general election in front of him for a possible third term to retain his office for a third term. That potential roadblock on his way to a change of address to Washington, D.C., has not stopped, nor even slowed, speculation on his presidential aspirations.

When Perry and Palin get together on the same stage, as they have several times in recent months, including Saturday night's East Texas rally at Tyler's Oil Palace, it only adds fuel to the Republican fire to get a winning combination for the next presidential go-round. Whether the ticket might be a Perry-Palin or Palin-Perry combination, the possible leading pair has spurred a lot of excitement among factions of the GOP.

Palin, buoyed by pocket-lining book deals and high dollar speaking engagements, seems to have been in the news nearly as much as our sitting president. In East Texas she blasted Obama and his administration on their energy policies and accused Obama of attempting to use the Gulf oil spill for political gains.

In Texas, her message of attempting to get the nation to a state of energy independence gains a lot of support. Meshed with Perry's ongoing message of distancing himself from the Washington establishment and pushing for less government and lowered taxes, the Palin-Perry option seems to have the potential to carry a lot of weight.
Perhaps the editors in Longview are unaware that Rick Perry made a point of asking that his name be left off the Southern Republican Leadership Conference straw poll ballot a few months ago. The Texas governor told Human Events in an April interview:
“I’m not being coy. I don’t want to go to Washington, D.C. I have great interest in who will be the presidential candidate in 2012, and I’ll be active and I’ll be engaged and I’ll be helpful and do all of the things that a governor of a major state can do and should do, but it won’t be me... I have a great bully pulpit.”
The media tend to close their ears when politicians tell them that they are not interested, which is a shame, because sometimes the pols really mean it. "I don’t want to go to Washington, D.C." sounds pretty clear cut to us. Also, if Gov. Palin does decide to make a run for the White House in 2012, we can think of some potential Palin running mates that make more sense to us than Perry. Governors Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Haley Barbour of Mississippi are just two of them. Jindal has drawn renewed interest nationally and is very popular locally for his efforts to save his state's coastal region from Gulf Oil Disaster while the Obama administration characteristically dithers.

Should he win his Congressional race in Florida, retired Army Colonel Allen West is another possibility more likely than Perry. And, since he has Gov. Palin's endorsement, we know that Col. West meets with her approval. But the editorial was correct in its first paragraph. It's still too early for serious 2012 presidential race speculation, and much too to be speculating about running mates.

Will Sarah Palin visit Palm Beach in the fall?

*
Will Sarah Palin visit West Palm Beach a couple of weeks before the November midterm elections? That's what she was allegedly overheard saying to Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy when the two met at the Belmont Stakes Saturday, according to Palm Beach Post gossip columnist Jose Lambiet.

This rumor is sure to shift the punditocracy into overdrive. Speculation on an endorsement and some stumping for Marco Rubio in 5... 4... 3... 2... Or, the governor may be going to southeast Florida to campaign for Allen West, whom she's already endorsed. The 22nd Congressional District, after all, winds around West Palm. But then again, she may just be looking forward to soaking up some sun for a few days while things are frozen over in Alaska.

Sarah Palin endorses three veterans for U.S. Congress

*
Posting on her Facebook Notes page Monday, Sarah Palin endorsed Lt. Col. Alan West (Ret.) and two other military veterans in their races for the U.S. House of Representatives:
American Heroes Ready and Willing to Serve in Congress

America, if you love your freedom, thank a vet! And if you’re looking for leaders who believe in integrity, service, and country first, look to our veterans.

Last week I campaigned for a true American hero, John McCain, and this week I’d ask you to join me in supporting a new generation of heroes who are heeding their country’s call for leadership in Washington.

There are a number of great veteran candidates running for office this year, and there are some excellent organizations dedicated to helping them, including: Iraq Vets for Congress and Combat Veterans for Congress (please click on the links to visit their websites).

There are three veterans in particular I’ll be supporting this week.

The first is Major Vaughn Ward, a fourth-generation Idaho native who grew up on his family’s farm in Shoshone and is running in Idaho’s 1st Congressional District. Coming from a family with a proud military tradition, Vaughn enlisted in the Marine Corps after college and was finishing up his service when the September 11th attacks occurred. He put his life on hold and heeded his country’s call – serving first as a CIA Operations Officer and later volunteering with the Marine Corps for a combat tour in Iraq, during which he was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V. After returning from Iraq, Vaughn went to work for the McCain/Palin campaign. I was grateful for his support then, and I’m happy to support him now because I know that he believes in the same commonsense conservative ideals that we cherish. Vaughn knows that real job growth comes from the private sector, not government. He believes in free market reforms, tax relief for families and small businesses, and a return to a constitutionally limited government that lives within its means. He’ll carry the conservative banner to Washington and will rein in the reckless growth of government to get it back on our side. And remember, a vote for Vaughn is a vote to remove the gavel from Nancy Pelosi’s grip. Please visit Vaughn’s website here to make a donation to his campaign, and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

The second veteran is Captain Adam Kinzinger, a decorated special-operations pilot who flew combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Adam is running for Illinois’ 11th Congressional District against a freshman incumbent congresswoman who seemed to pull a bait and switch on voters to get elected. She sounded like a blue dog on the campaign trail, but didn’t vote like one in Washington. Instead, she voted in lockstep with the Pelosi agenda – on Obamacare, the stimulus, cap-and-tax – and the list goes on. She’s part of the reason for Congress’ 11% approval rating. Adam is a strong fiscal conservative with a proven track record as a reformer from his years serving on his local county board. Adam started out in local office, and, like many of us, believes in making government more accountable to the people. When you serve in local office, your constituents truly are your neighbors. Adam understands this, and I know that he will listen to his constituents and work for us, not against us, in Washington. Please visit Adam’s website here to make a donation to his campaign, and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

The third veteran is Lieutenant Colonel Allen West, a decorated war hero who’s served with distinction in combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of you may have heard of Allen from a speech he gave last year that became a viral video on YouTube with over 2 million viewers. Allen’s personal story is a testament to the commonsense conservative belief that our nation’s greatness is rooted in freedom, because with freedom comes equal opportunity, and that, coupled with hard work, leads to success. Allen is a small government fiscal conservative running against a leftwing ideologue who’s marched to the beat of Nancy Pelosi on every issue from cap-and-tax to the stimulus, TARP, and, of course, Obamacare. It’s time to send Allen to Washington in his place. Please visit Allen’s website here to donate to his campaign, and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

I believe that these great veterans will fight for us in D.C. to uphold and defend our constitution as courageously in the halls of Congress as they did on the field of battle. I’m so honored to offer my support to these American heroes, and I hope you’ll join me in helping them so that they can serve us all in Washington.
