Sarah Palin's future neighbors in north Scottsdale are ready to welcome her to the neighborhood, but they are not exactly prepared to open their arms to the news media in pursuit of the potential 2012 presidential candidate, according to a report by Tim Gaynor of Reuters:

"I'm very happy that the house finally has someone living in it. it's been empty for a while, and it's nice to have a neighbor," said Monica Rahman, the owner of a busy stable across a dirt road from the manse the former Alaska governor is reported to have bought.

A company acting for an unnamed cash buyer ponied up $1.7 million for the sprawling 5-bedroom horse property in this saguaro-studded neighborhood northwest of Phoenix on May 13, and sources close to the deal have told some news outlets like the Wall Street Journal that Palin is the buyer.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate's possible purchase of a home in the Lower 48 has stoked speculation she may shortly announce as a contender for her party's nomination to run against President Barack Obama in 2012.

For days, Rahman says, the formerly quiet neighborhood has been buzzed by clattering news helicopters, while an influx of reporters has boosted traffic up and down the previously quiet roads, some of them unpaved and used as riding trails.

"The horses get spooked. It's dangerous," she said, her exasperation at the media clearly straining a natural courtesy.

Wilkfors: Gov. Palin ramping up for presidential campaign out of AZ

Palin has a huge Arizona following among women, conservatives and the Tea Party movement

Arizona-based political consultant Shane Wilkfors has a source who tells him that Sarah Palin is "ramping up very quickly" to launch a 2012 presidential campaign based out of The Valley of the Sun. Wilkfors says Arizona offers Gov. Palin certain advantages beyond the warm weather:

It also makes sense geographically for Palin to base a federal campaign out of Arizona. We are one of the fastest growing states and Arizona has major transportation hubs, modern infrastructure and a technologically savvy community. We’re in a region of the country that is highly accessible to and from other parts of the country making travel more of a convenience rather than a challenge to a national campaign.

I also happen to believe that the Palin’s fell in love with Arizona during their multiple visits here over the last three years. Arizona is a great place to raise a family and be a part of a broader community. Ultimately, Americans move to places where they feel comfortable and I’m willing to bet the Palin’s feel very comfortable right here in Arizona.

However, as Wilkfors points out, the political advantages of an Arizona-based Palin presidential campaign are likely what sealed the deal:

Arizona will have 11 electoral votes up for grabs in 2012. That makes Arizona a high priority campaign state. Arizona is also guaranteed NOT to have a home state favorite running for President in 2012.

I like to say that Arizona is also a crimson red Republican state with a independent maverick attitude. Arizonans are conservative but they have a discernible mistrust of government and especially the federal government. In 2010, Republicans swept all statewide seats and took super majorities in both the State House and Senate. That makes Arizona a comfortable spot for any conservative political leader and Sarah Palin fits that mold.

Palin also has a huge following here in Arizona among women, conservatives in general and a thriving Tea Party movement. Having spoken with many conservative grassroots activists over the last year, it’s obvious to me that she would have no problem building a hardcore base of support among the grassroots and party faithful. Many would be proud to adopt Palin as their own.

In addition, argues Wilkfors, Arizona has proven campaign networks and organizations already in place and an ample talent pool of strategists and operatives to staff a nascent Palin campaign. He has no doubts that Gov. Palin would also be able to count on political endorsements from the Canyon State's congressional delegation, including Rep. Paul Gosar, grateful for her support for in the 2010 election.

Finally, Wilkfors explains what he says could make an Arizona-based Palin campaign "a real game changer": During the 2008 Presidential Primary, Mitt Romney performed very well in Arizona's East Valley. With the GOP's 2008 vice presidential candidate running from home territory -- as recent as that new home may be -- Romney's team would not able to take The Canyon State for granted. Though he will be able to count on the Valley's LDS community for considerable support, Romney would have to defend against a serious challenge by Gov. Palin for the votes of Arizona's much larger numbers of conservatives.

Will the One Nation Tour stop at Gettysburg?

On the SarahPAC website, there's a map which will show the stops on Gov. Palin's One Nation bus tour. As of this writing, no stops have been officially announced. But the buzz is growing, fueled by a Politico article, that the tour will include a visit to the historic Gettysburg National Military Park this weekend. Tim Prudente of the Hanover, PA Evening Sun reports:

Walt Tuchalski, communications coordinator for the Adams County Republican Committee, said he's heard speculation of a Sunday visit.

"The rumor from reliable sources on the street is that Sarah Palin's campaign has made some inquiries into what's going on in Gettysburg this Sunday," he said.

The Palin campaign did not respond Friday to requests for information.

The SarahPAC site states tour stops will include "historical sites that were key to the formation, survival, and growth of the United States of America."

The site, however, doesn't list any specific stops.

Still, Tuchalski said he's hopeful for a visit.

"That would be huge, she has such a huge following here," he said. "It would really energize Adams County."

We suspect the SarahPAC website's bus tour page will get an awesome number of hits this weekend as people check in to learn where the first announced stops will be. While there, it wouldn't hurt for Sarah's army troops to each make a small donation, say, twenty dollars and ten cents. It lets the guv know how much we want her to run in 2012. Although she likely has some inkling of that, we need to leave no doubts.

Although donations to SarahPAC cannot legally be transferred to any presidential campaign Gov. Palin may later decide to engage in, FEC regulations governing leadership PACs (such as SarahPAC) allow contributions to be used for her travel expenses and can thus help finance the One Nation Tour.

I still question how one can be viewed as objective when your claims are easily disproved, when former associates allege that you are simply disgruntled, and your co-authors are known far-left bloggers who:

a) are married to and helped petition for Alaskans for Truth, the group which helped petition for ethical charges (repeatedly dismissed) and who are quite cozy with the elected official who brought the tossed charges in the beginning.

b) are tight with a known (Peter Rouse) top aide to President Obama, a figure that also reportedly conducted regular mind-meld calls with said co-authors.

Loesch wonders why anyone would waste good money on Bailey's bogus book, when the propaganda on its pages has already been published and is available for free on the blogs of Alaska's Palin-deranged Democrat operatives. The simple answer is that leftists aren't exactly paragons of common sense. They are willing to spend no small sums of money to feed the habitual and mentally debilitating sickness that is PDS.

Poor Bailey had that deer in the headlights look on his face when Hannity challenged him in another recent interview. It's apparent to all who bother to look beneath the surface here that Morris and Devon are pulling his strings, while far away in the White House, Pete Rouse is pulling theirs.

Update: Watch the Obamunist media do the same thing with Michelle Bachmann. Sarah Palin comments on her Facebook Notes page regarding the latest reckless, boneheaded move by our incompetent president:

Should we be borrowing money from China to turn
around and give it to the Muslim Brotherhood?

Given that we are running massive deficits and are drowning in more than $14 trillion in debt, and despite not knowing who will rule Egypt until its election this fall, this strange strategy may be the end result given President Obama’s announcement that he is committing $2 billion to Egypt’s “new government.” It’s part of a $20 billion foreign aid package laid out with the Group of 8 countries in Europe today.

Now, given that Egypt has a history of corruption when it comes to utilizing American aid, it is doubtful that the money will really help needy Egyptian people. Couple that with the fact that the Muslim Brotherhood is organized to have a real shot at taking control of Egypt’s government, and one has to ask why we would send money (that we don’t have) into unknown Egyptian hands?

Throwing borrowed money around is not sound economic policy. And throwing borrowed money around the developing world is not sound foreign policy. Foreign assistance should go to American allies that need it and appreciate it, and for humanitarian purposes when it can truly make a difference.

Considering the Obama Administration’s continued strange strategies on the economy and foreign policy has us counting down the days to the next election. November 2012 can’t come soon enough.

Professor Stacy McCain presents a textbook example of Palin Derangement Syndrome, Hollyweird style:

Kyle Massey, 19, is an ex-child star best known for his role as the pesky little brother on the Disney Channel sitcom, That's So Raven (2003-07). Bristol's new reality-show gig with Massey should be good news for her and her family, but Palin Derangement Syndrome dictates otherwise. A National Enquirer story that got picked up and elaborated by the London Daily Mail this week carries the headline, "Mama Grizzly strikes again: Sarah Palin 'furious' at Bristol's new Disney Show star boyfriend."

As might be expected, this rumor-mongering story cites unnamed "sources" about an alleged romance between Massey and Bristol: "Sarah is furious at Bristol for going so quickly from man to man. She is doing her best to prevent Bristol's new relationship from being featured in the reality show."

Which would be very interesting, if true. But it's not true, according to Massey's mother, Angel Massey:

"They are not dating," she reveals while laughing. "They're good friends. I understand the media wants to push sales or whatever, but no, they're not dating."

Angel goes on to say, "Both of our families gelled during Dancing with the Stars. Sarah would be in the audience cheering for Kyle, and we'd be in the audience rooting for Bristol. We all became close."

Mama Massey adds, "The Palins are really funny, nice and genuinely warm to us."

Blue Star parents Todd and Sarah Palin may be riding with tens of thousands of Rolling Thunder veterans Sunday:

The former Alaska governor, who is the subject of a lot of overheated speculation about whether she will run for president in 2012, has accepted an invitation to participate in the annual Rolling Thunder memorial ride this Sunday, an official says.

“As far as I know, she is trying to rent a motorcycle, so she can ride with her husband,” said Nancy Regg, a spokeswoman for Rolling Thunder.

Gregg says the tentative plan is for Palin to join up with the ride at the Pentagon at 7 a.m. The ride kicks off at noon, and hundreds of bikers will snake through D.C. to the event’s main stage, which will be between the Reflecting Pool and the Korean War Veterans Memorial on the Mall. The program is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m.

Gregg said Palin is currently not scheduled to speak at the event and watchers should not expect any type of “political statement” from Palin during Rolling Thunder.

Warning, Todd: Speaking from personal experience, riding a motorcycle can be downright addictive. If you rent a chunk of American Iron for the RT ride, you might just want to get your own Harley or Victory (Arctic Cat doesn't build two-wheelers, AFAIK) for surfing the Maricopa County roads. The temptation is greater, of course, in Arizona, where one can ride all year long, unlike Alaska, where motorcycles have to hibernate for 7 to 10 months out of ever 12.

But one scoot is never enough. How about his and hers Harleys? Maybe even get one of them fitted with a side car so Trig and Piper can enjoy the ride, too. Then perhaps a dirt bike for the desert... Whatever you do, don't get a copy of Bruce Brown's "On Any Sunday" DVD. To watch Steve McQueen jumping the sand dunes on his 400 Husqvarna is nothing less than inspirational...

Douglas MacKinnon, who served in the Reagan and Bush41 administrations, argues in a Townhall.com op-ed that if conservatives allow politicians, professors and journalists to persuade us to settle for the lesser of two evils, we not only betray our ideals, but we advance the left's agenda. If we ignore our common sense, all that remains is leftist nonsense:

If you are a conservative or one who does espouse traditional values, then take a good look around. View the decay of compromise which is rotting our cities, our states, our republic, our educational system, and our entertainment community. As you ascertain that which threatens to implode our very way of life, ask yourself a question: What role, if any, did such compromise play in my electoral decisions?

While still mercilessly vilified by the corrupt and themselves compromised members of the mainstream media, former Governor Sarah Palin continues to do her best to speak a very plain truth. A truth and a wake-up call aimed this time squarely at those who would run in the upcoming Republican primaries for President and those who would vote for those candidates.

During a recent interview with Sean Hannity on the Fox News Channel, Governor Palin wisely stressed:

"…in this process of assessing, once the lineup is set and the debates begin…we need to look at every one of these potential candidates and declared candidates records. See if they've had opportunity to veto overspending in their city or their state and some governing body. See if they've seized the opportunity to save other people's money and not squander it. Indeed. Governor Palin has just spoken arguably the most important truth. With liberty comes responsibility. All too often, too many of us are content to let someone else do the "homework" for us and then profess shock when the wheels very predictably fly off and our favorite politician, program, or entitlement ends up in a ditch.

AS MacKinnon's former boss Ronald Reagan advised those gathered for the 1975 edition of CPAC:

That banner President Reagan spoke of has survived the years. It is not tattered and worn from excessive waving, just neglected and forgotten in some circles within Reagan's political party of choice. Too few have been willing and determined to hold it high in recent years. Sarah Palin is one of the few. Though many so-called Republicans would like to drag the standard through the mud, she will not allow that banner to fall.

Matt Lewis wrote an opinion piece May 18 making the case that Sarah Palin could not only run for the GOP nomination, but she could actually win it. Matt complains that his argument "was largely ignored." But not by us. We wrote about it here. But today, many of his fellow pundits are conceding that Gov. Palin may well get into the race and, Lewis writes, wondering which of her potential rivals for the Republican presidential nomination stands to win or lose from a Palin candidacy. Some think Mitt Romney would benefit, though others may want to argue that point. But the "obvious loser" in the event of a Palin presidential campaign, Lewsi says, would be Congresswoman Michele Bachmann:

Nathan Gonzales, a political analyst for The Rothenberg Political Report, tells me the two conservative ladies would be instant competitors. Both would have to win Iowa, and “they occupy a similar place within the Republican Party,” Gonzales says (noting they would compete for the votes of Tea Party conservatives and Evangelicals).

The Des Moines Register’s Kathie Obradovich seems to agree, writing: “One potential landmine for Bachmann is Sarah Palin’s renewed overture toward a potential candidacy. Bachmann’s not a clone of the former Alaska governor, but she would face continual comparisons that could make it tougher to establish herself with voters.”

Since Rep. Bachmann has said that Gov. Palin's decision will not affect her own, this could get a lot more interesting.
