Quote of the Day (January 4, 2011)

The princes of the petty in the press are determined to avoid dealing with actual ideas
*
Daniel Greenfield at Sultan Knish:
"Debates on the morality of Sarah Palin's elk shootings are easy to find. A serious response to her statement on the omnibus spending bill is nowhere to be found. The media calls her unserious, and yet it would rather spend hours talking about a vast right wing conspiracy to help her daughter win on Dancing with the Stars, than deal with her take on the actual issues. Contrary to what the Beltway crowd seems to believe, Palin does not have the influence she does because she hunts and fishes, but because of the ideas she champions... But Democrats spend months analyzing Sarah Palin's hunting skills and her daughter's dancing skills -- and actually imagine that they're on the right track to winning in 2012... When faced with an electoral challenge, they respond like the members of a High School clique suddenly facing competition, with taunts, nicknames and whispering campaigns... Sally Quinn's meltdown in the pages of the Washington Post over an appearance by Sarah Palin's daughter on Dancing with the Stars, read like something one of Carrie's female tormentors might have penned for the school paper. You can almost hear her screaming between the pages, 'She's ruining my prom. Get her out of here. Get her out of here right now!'"

Captain Ed gets one wrong (Updated)

Gov. Palin is on the record against repeal of DADT
*
Here are four words we never thought we would be writing: Ed Morrissey is wrong. We've been following Ed since he was blogging at Captain's Quarters, and only very rarely do we find ourselves in disagreement with him or notice that he hasn't done due diligence before putting up a post. In this case, it's the latter.
"Sarah Palin has remained silent on the issue of repealing 'don’t ask, don’t tell,' which Congress passed in the lame-duck session — at least until now."
That's simply not true. In February of last year, Gov. Palin appeared on "Fox News Sunday," and host Chris Wallace raised the DADT issue:
WALLACE: "Should the rule 'don't ask -- don't tell' for the Military be repealed?"

PALIN: "I don't think so right now. I'm surprised that the President spent that on his State of the Union speech when he only spent about nine percent of his time in the State of the Union on national security issues. And I say that because there are other things to be worried about right now with the Military."
So, no, Gov. Palin has not "remained silent" on DADT, and as of February 7, 2010 at least, she was opposed to repeal of the policy.

Ed is absolutely correct, however, in laboring to point out that "retweeting does not necessarily connote agreement. " But in this situation, it actually may do that. It all depends on how you interpret exactly what the governor was agreeing with. To us, it appeared that Tammy Bruce was calling liberals hypocrites for championing gay issues while denigrating gays at the same time by using epithets to refer to them. We could be wrong here, but that seems to us what Sarah Palin was agreeing with -- they hypocrisy of the left -- not necessarily that DADT should be repealed, an action she was opposed to on the only occasion we know of when she addressed the issue.

The real shame here is that this particular Twitter message garnered so much attention, distracting from a subsequent tweet about gasoline prices and ways the Obama administration has contributed to their escalation. This is a pocketbook issue which affects us all, given an economy in which the prices of other key commodities are also on the rise while unemployment remains at unacceptably high levels.

It's still the economy, stupid.

Update: Politico's Andy Barr also didn't do his homework:
"Palin has not spoken publicly about the end of the ban on gays serving openly in the military..."
As we clearly demonstrated in this post, Gov. Palin has indeed "spoken publicly" on DADT. In Politico's case, failure to do a simple Google search doesn't surprise us. The leftist website never lets the facts get in the way of its anti-Palin agenda.

David Kahane: 'I Hate You, Bristol Palin'

"Why can’t we quit you?"
*
Satirist Michael Walsh, writing under the pen persona of his evil progressive twin "David Kahane," has authored another howler for NRO. Excerpt:
Okay, I’ve just about had it with you people. Yes, I’m talking to you, the Palin family of Moosewhack Village, Bumblefork County, Alaska, USA, Earth, Universe. I mean, who in the name of old Joe Hill are you to be constantly coming into my living room unannounced and uninvited?

It was bad enough when the most unqualified person in American life — I’m talking to you, Sarah — had the effrontery to run for vice president. It got even worse when, after your well-deserved shellacking at the hands of the most qualified person in America — that would be His Exalted Majesty, the Emperor Barack Hussein Obama II, Lord of the Flies, Master of the Hoops, and Keeper of the Holy Cities of Honolulu and Chicago — you refused to slink off into the obscurity of the Arctic Standard Time Zone, or whatever that place is called where the sun don’t shine. Now you even have your own reality show, on which no moose or caribou is safe.

But while you’re banging away at the wildlife population and then popping their remains in a pot for dinner, you’ve bequeathed us Bristol, little miss Dancing with the Stars and now the proud owner of some choice Arizona real estate, to carry on the family tradition of driving us nuts.

Listen to me: It’s just not right that you Palins are using the trash culture we’ve so lovingly created against us — that was meant to inflict Britney Spears on your wingnut families, not to blast us with Bristol. Teenaged unwed mother? Check. Tabloid fodder? Check. Famous for being famous? Check. Normally, we would endorse all those things, just as, in a rational world, we would embrace Mama Grizzly for her “compelling personal narrative,” as the Finemans of the media like to call it.

But, of course, we don’t. Because we can’t. Because to do so would mean the end of our carefully maintained double standard — and the minute you folks on the right no longer accept your second-class status in the moral pecking order, we are finished.

Page Six claims 'Palin off to Holy Land'

"Many dignitaries have extended invitations"
*
Rumors of Gov. Palin planning a visit to Israel have resurfaced, this time via Cindy Adams on the NY Post's Page Six:
"The journey, transportation, accommodations, schedule, appointments to see VIPs, the faithful who accompany her, are being arranged as we speak. Target date's springtime."
Adams says that the trip to the Holy Land will happen before the end of April and that "many dignitaries have extended invitations." The columnist speculates that Israel "might even be the first of many international visits."

There was considerable buzz early in December about a possible visit to Israel by the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate, but Palin staffer Rebecca Mansour said then that Gov. Palin had no firm plans that she would announce at the time for either an Israel or UK trip. The wording of that statement certainly didn't preclude the possibility of steps being taken to arrange such a journey.

Back in August, 2008, Politico's Ben Smith reported that the governor had discussed a possible visit to Israel with some of her Jewish supporters in Alaska, including businessman Terry Gorlick, whom Smith quoted as saying that Gov. Palin was committed to visiting Israel at some future date.

Fair weather Palin supporters

It's time to stop allowing the ruling class elites to pick our presidential candidates
*
It has been interesting and somewhat sad to watch the support for Sarah Palin among some of those who have claimed to support her wax and wane like the changing of the seasons. Eric Erickson, editor of RedState.com is a textbook example. His support for Gov. Palin weakened when she decided not to participate in last year's CPAC conference, choosing instead to keynote the Tea Party National Convention and speak at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference. Erickson's support for the governor got stronger after she hit home runs at both events with her speeches, and it grew even stronger when the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate endorsed some candidates that Erickson also favored.

But now Erickson is hedging his support for Gov. Palin again with a recent RedState post promoting Indiana Congressman Mike Pence for President. Erick's timing couldn't be worse. His post comes on the same day that Indiana political pundit Brian Howey reads the tea leaves to opine that Pence will likely run for governor of the Hoosier State, not POTUS, as Ian Lazaran points out.

Though Erick does acknowledge that Pence's path may more likely run through the governor's residence in Indianapolis than the White House and admits that sitting U.S. House members are very long shots to win the presidency, he still hopes against hope that Pence will do "something extraordinary" and run for president. Erickson ignores what Congressman Pence clearly recognizes: he needs to get some executive political experience under his belt before he goes for the gold.

The RedState head man says he likes Pence because he "bridges the gap between the establishment and the grassroots." But traditionally that gap is bridged by a vice presidential selection, not the candidate at the top of the ticket. It was Ronald Reagan's choice of George H. W. Bush which won him the support of the GOP establishment in 1980. In that year and again in 1984, we saw a movement conservative clear the path to the White House by throwing the establishment a bone. These are the rare exceptions, as in more recent years the conservative grassroots were thrown bones to make establishment candidates more palatable, such as Dan Quayle in 1988 and 1992, Jack Kemp in 1996 and Dick Cheney in 2000 and 2004.

Like many other conservatives who seem to switch candidates like partners at a barn dance, Erick was swayed to back Mitch Daniels, at least until Daniels showed he was willing to roll over on social issues. Now there's no disputing that still "it's the economy, stupid." But you don't throw the social conservatives under the bus, either, because at some point along the route, you may need them to get out and help push the thing over at least a few of the bumps in the road. So now Erick's barometer has swung over to Pence, just as the former RSC chairman seems to be laying the groundwork to announce that he's going to run for governor.

We're not out to slam Erick Erickson. Our editor worked for and with him for six months at RedState, and Erick proved over and over again to be a good man, one of exceptional character. But in our opinion, he is representative of a number of conservatives who make the mistake of letting the left, its captive media and the squishy GOP establishment unduly influence their opinions of Gov. Palin. George Will and Charles Krauthammer may be big shots inside the beltway, but in most places on the American map, what they say is of little consequence. It's long past time to take a stand and stop allowing the ruling class elites to pick the GOP's presidential candidates. They have been doing this every four years since 1988, with predictably disastrous results.

Erick also makes the mistake of overlooking one basic fact. Should some conservative other than Gov. Palin wind up getting the GOP nomination, that candidate will be subject to all the vilification the left can muster and its media accomplices can spread around. What makes him think any other conservatives would be less "radioactive" than Sarah Palin after the elites have had their way with them? Can he not remember how they treated Ronald Reagan back in the day? George W. Bush, who was just Conservative Lite® -- not a movement conservative by any stretch of the imagination -- was hammered harder than even Reagan was. So the "radioactive" argument against Sarah Palin just doesn't hold its heavy water.

No one has been challenging the ruling class like Sarah Palin has been doing for two years now. She's been leading the charge against the Obama administration's ruinous policies, the media's corrupt lies and the Vichy Republicans' traitorous corrosion. She puts herself on the firing line nearly every day, which is why she draws so much fire. But she's still standing strong and championing Reagan conservatism. No one else comes close. That's one of the reasons why we began supporting her since we learned about her and why we continue to do so. She's a fighter, and that's exactly the kind of leader conservatives need right now. What she needs in return are not fair weather supporters. She needs common sense conservatives who will stand by her as she has stood by us and our shared principles.

"Put this monster back in its cave" Edition
*

Edisto Joe at The Edisto Joe Outlook:
"Remember the feeding frenzy the left had last year when Sarah Palin talked of 'Death Panels' being formed under Obamacare? Well, according to the December 25th edition of The New York Times, as of January 1, 2011 we will be on our way there... It will be a grand and classic example of liberal arrogance in governing, the ultimate in the minority deciding for the majority what is best... Palin was right; in fact, most all the critics of the bill are right on all points. It's the reason the public hasn't bought into it, and it's the reason they want it repealed. The first order of business for the new Congress is to put this monster back in its cave and seal it up forever."
Da Techguy:
"Yeah why would the idea that you said you didn’t want to let this be public make people think that you are doing something sneaky?"
Dr. Milton R. Wolf in the Washington Times:
"The liberal intelligentsia, prisoners of their own conditioned reflex response, mocked Sarah Palin when she warned America in a Facebook post of the Obamacare death panels. The excitable Keith Olbermann even crowned it a 2009 'Lie of the Year.' ... The White House denied impropriety but removed the provision when fellow Democrats balked. Only then did the bill pass by a single vote. The liberal talking class continued to mock Mrs. Palin and her supposedly mythical death panels, that is, until liberal icon and former Enron adviser Paul Krugman let the cat out of the bag that death panels are indeed a reality and, in his ghoulish vision, killing off senior citizens and taxing the survivors is a solution to America's debt problem... Promises from the White House notwithstanding, Mrs. Palin indeed was right. Death panels are all too real, and no family deserves to be caught up in them. Granted, some may find the term 'death panel' unnecessarily provocative, but then again, what exactly should we call a panel whose decisions result in death?"
Susie Allen at Pro Life in TN:
"'First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.' This is what came to mind when I read the column by Cal Thomas stating that Sarah Palin is owed an apology by the MSM who mocked her and now are stating to break the news of the death panels that they laughed at."
The Intellectual Conservative:
"Mike Murphy is one of these moderate Republican political gurus who claims to know what the special sauce is to get Republican candidates elected in blue states. Unfortunately the sauce wasn't flowing when he helmed the Meg Whitman campaign in California because she got her clock cleaned... It's far from a secret that Murphy despises Sarah Palin and takes every opportunity to take shots at her. He declared that the GOP couldn't go forward with her as a major player. The proof is in the pudding though. Many of the candidates that Palin supported (including Rand Paul, Tim Scott, Allen West and many others) won their elections. Meanwhile Murphy's candidate, with the benefit of a billion dollar fortune, couldn't get more than 40% of the vote."
Donald Douglas at American Power:
"Will 2011 be the year of Sarah Palin? That’s a pretty good bet, I’d say..."
Mario Rizzo at the Christian Science Monitor:
"In an editorial the Wall Street Journal criticizes Sarah Palin for criticizing Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity campaign... I do not believe it is the job of the federal government to teach us anything. It is simply part of the apparatus of compulsion and coercion whose job it is, at most, to main the basics of social order. When we allow it to become our Teacher we are elevating it to a role for which it has no comparative moral authority. Why should its values be authoritative? Why not my values? Why not your values? It is not as if this advice emanates from a source (the White House, including President Obama) that has a reputation for moral integrity."
Paul Krugman, liberal economist, at The New York Times:
"Suppose that from here on out we average 4.5 percent growth, which is way above any forecast I’ve seen. Even at that rate, unemployment would be close to 8 percent at the end of 2012, and wouldn’t get below 6 percent until midway through Sarah Palin’s first term."
Joe Newby at Examiner.com:
"Liberal pundits agree: Sarah Palin is horrible. Some might even say deranged... Never mind that Barack Obama cannot put together two words without the help of a teleprompter, and never mind his many gaffes -- 57 states, the non-existent Austrian language, etc. Nothing Palin will ever do or say will change these pundits' minds. If anything, the mindless attacks will only get worse. These pundits are apparently unable to refute her positions, so they resort to the personal attacks. Obviously, that is all they have."
Pam Meister at Big Hollywood:
"Palin didn’t go to the 'right' schools. She’s handy with a shotgun and enjoys fishing. She didn’t have a politically powerful family member behind her rise in politics. Heck, just the sound of her voice drives the left bonkers. She. Must. Be. Stopped."
Shane Vander Hart at Caffeinated Thoughts:
"This book should satisfy the critics who said Going Rogue didn’t touch on her positions and policies enough. While America By Heart is not a wonkish book, it does lay out a framework for 'commonsense constitutional conservatism' (a term she used at the end of Going Rogue)... The book doesn’t answer every question that the electorate will likely want answered if she decides to run in 2012, and it certainly won’t convert those suffering from PDS (Palin Derangement Syndrome). However, if you want to gain a better understanding of Sarah Palin’s core values and principles then America By Heart delivers. What America By Heart does is provides a vision for 'commonsense constitutional conservatism;' matter of fact, you can consider it a primer."
T Lee Humphrey at How Did We Get Here Now:
"Why is it that CNN has declared war on Sarah Palin and is doing everything day after day to show her in a bad light?"
M. Joseph Sheppard at Sarah Palin Information Blog:
"The Blue Blood Elites have so far succumbed to PDS that they have lost all reason. How an experienced commentator of so many years standing such as George Will can say -- seriously -- that Palin can’t be elected president because she can’t win the 'collar' counties outside Chicago and Philadelphia is an absolute mystery. Clearly the Beltway elite is befuddled by the phenomenon that is Palin... of the like they have never experienced before -- i.e. she won’t bow down to them -- that they have lost all reason. Certainly one thing is clear, their prognostications can be safely ignored."
Chris Queen at NewsReal Blog:
"It just might be as entertaining to see these cultural elites on the Left come out of hiding to condemn the Palin family on these shows they otherwise pretend not to watch as it is to watch the shows themselves."
Kingsjester at Kingsjester's Blog:
"With Sarah Palin, you always know where she stands. Mittens? Not so much... The good ol’ boys in the Grand Old Party had better sit up and take notice. The 2010 Midterm Elections were a refudiation of not just the Democrats, but big government, business as usual politics. If the Republican party views things from a Beltway/Northeastern Corridor perspective instead of listening to the Heartland, and paying attention to the lessons that were taught on November 2nd, 2010, they are going to be sadly disappointed."

Michael Moriarty: We are Trig!

Unless we know that, the Obama Nation wins
*
At Enter Stage Right, Michael Moriarty argues that unless Roe v Wade is overturned, the American Maoists will win:
What might turn the tide? A President Sarah Palin.

[...]

We are Trig!!

The only thing standing between us and an early grave are women and men such as Sarah Palin and the very Catholic (grade school and high school) trained, Col. Allen West. Please listen to Col. West's CPAC speech here.

May they both succeed in rescuing the White House and America, freeing us from the Bipartisan, Progressive and Decidedly Pro-Abortion, New World Order.

Fervently pro-life defenders of the Second Amendment, encompassing the two major minorities of America, women and blacks, will simultaneously dumbfound the anti-American world; while, at the same time, they will rule with God's blessings by saving the lives of unborn infants.

Until Roe v Wade's infanticide ends, America and Americans will not only founder; they will drown in the ocean of hypocrisy which they created for themselves. Once Roe v Wade was decided in 1973, the Obama Nation was sure to follow. "Morning for America" will not be possible until we begin to overturn Roe v Wade.

We are Trig.

Unless we know that, the Obama Nation wins.

Trig and the right to be a human being are inextricably wedded.

Progress for a Progressive means becoming something greater and more powerful than a mere human being. It obviously means, in the face of Roe v Wade's legalized murder, becoming God.

I'd really rather be Trig. No one can play The Creator better than The Creator already has.

If you think so, I'm glad I'm not you.

Megan Fox: Top 10 Reasons to Hate Sarah Palin

At David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog, Megan Fox details the top ten reasons that leftists hate Sarah Palin:
When Sarah Palin first stepped onto the national stage (in the hottest red high heels anyone ever saw) this country was changed forever. It will be remembered in history as the moment conservative women stepped onto the grid in a meaningful way. In the same instant, the Left froze in terror and a seething hatred began to build until it could no longer be contained and was unleashed in the most brutal assault on a woman in politics this nation has ever seen. The most vile and disgusting remarks were made about her family, her baby’s paternity, her marriage and her motherhood. Late night comics made rape jokes about her minor daughter and degraded her by calling her a “stewardess” and “sexy secretary.”

Leftist website the Daily Kos started the rumors about Trig not being Sarah’s child, but if you look for the story today you will find this message on the Kos, “I’m sorry, I can’t seem to find that story.” Typical. It went down the memory hole. But here’s one that didn’t go down the memory hole thanks to screen grabs and smart bloggers: Alan Colmes, creepy Ichabod Crane look-a-like, had the audacity to suggest Palin didn’t seek proper pre-natal care during her pregnancy. This is rich coming from a guy for whom “pre-natal care” includes visits to Planned Parenthood butchers. Colmes tried to delete the story when he realized what a jerk he was for posting it. That’s what leftists call “courage.”

MSNBC used faked, highly sexualized photos of Sarah in a news broadcast which they later had to grovel over. But it didn’t stop them from flippantly arguing they were just having some “fun.” I’m curious as to what Newsweek‘s excuse was for allowing a Sarah Palin doll dressed up in a sexy school-girl outfit, shirt unbuttoned to show off a red bra to be featured in one of their stories about Palin. The hatred was (and still is) palpable. But why? The following are the top ten reasons leftist moonbats hate Sarah Palin...

[...]

Whatever the reasons, it’s a certainty that no other woman has ever been hated as much as Sarah Palin in modern history. Her remarkable ability to rise above it and even laugh at it is a lesson we could all use and more than enough proof to me that she has what it takes to stare down opposition and any challenge you can throw at her. I’ve always been a fan, but the more I get to know her, the more certain I am that Sarah is the next best thing since Ronald Reagan. Her uncanny ability to make leftists writhe with anger and hatred (and dare I say fear) warms my insides. I could definitely stand to see her do that to them for eight years from the inside of the White House. Here’s to hoping the Oval Office gets a new rug soon (a bear rug.)

Adrienne Ross at Motivation Truth:
"Whereas Dana Perino may choose to babble about Governor Palin's authenticity, the truth speaks louder. No one would put herself on the line as she did without firmly believing in each stand she took... Whether certain individuals like the Governor's decisions or not, her fearlessness in making them and standing by them is unquestionable. She stands head and shoulders above the rest because she stands on principle. This is the kind of leader Americans are seeking."
Ken Hughes at The Land of the Free:
"Sarah Palin can win the presidency in 2012 because she’s the real deal, 100% Momma America... The Washington establishment, Democrat and Republican, can’t afford a Sarah Palin looking for dirt under their rugs... Congress hates a reformer like the Devil hates Sunday."
Lori Calabrese at Examiner.com:
"I'm sick of all the comparisons between Obama and Palin. Palin's a former mayor, a former governor and has become a political powerhouse from the 2010 elections. Anyone who believes she can't stand toe to toe with Obama has made up their mind on Palin from all the misinformation that's out there, and their minds aren't going to be changed. Frankly, I believe Americans can garner more information from one of Palin's Facebook notes than any speech Obama has given as President."
John at Verum Serum:
"What If…Sarah Palin Had Said the Constitution Was 'Over 100 Years Old...' Do you think folks like Ezra’s pal at the Post, Greg Sargent, might be all over this."
Mark Whittington at Associated Content:
"Some have suggested that there is a historic parallel to a Palin candidacy. In late 1978, Ronald Reagan, himself a former governor and media star, was considered a has-been politician who had tried for the presidency in 1976 and had fallen short. Reagan was ridiculed, like Palin, for his alleged lack of intelligence and his alleged extremism. Yet, in 1980, Ronald Reagan beat President Jimmy Carter and became the 40th President of the United States."
Doug Hagin at The Daley Gator:
"Yet another reason to like Sarah Palin... when whiny, snot-nosed primadonas start criticizing you, you KNOW you are doing something right!"
Olivia Rodan Jacobs at Israpundit:
"I wondered if Palin’s personal faith would narrow her view of America. I need not have worried. Her references to the founding fathers’ faith was not narrowly parochial but simply pointed to their insistence on the Creator as the source of all men’s rights to life, liberty, and happiness. Further, she explained, it is the recognition that these rights come from the Creator that must lead to the conclusion that since these rights are not government given, therefore they cannot be taken away by any particular government. And it is this basic belief that brings a necessary restraint to the powers of government."
Warner Todd Huston at Big Hollywood:
"Sorkin is all upset that someone would dare shoot a caribou, but he doesn’t mind at all that drug dealers are murdering humans everyday so that he can get high. Nice guy."
theblogprof:
"Shocker: Detroit Free Press takes cheap shot at Sarah Palin in Granholm exit interview... I wouldn't call this one predictable, but it is emblematic of the establishment liberal MSM's Palin Derangement Syndrome and just how chronic it is... Uh - should runners cover up their legs? Maybe Palin should have worn a pants suit like our failed soon-to-be ex-governor. And why even bring up Palin in an exit interview? In hindsight, why publish it? Did the editorial board over at the freep look at it and not see the cheap shot at Palin? Or did they see and publish it because of the cheap shot?"
Tony Phyrillas at The Mercury Blogs:
"It's amazing how the far left starts foaming at the mouth at the mere mention of Sarah Palin's name."
Rich Vail at The Vail Spot:
"Like Sarah Palin, I went to a state university and took a hell of a long time to finish because I paid for it myself, going only when I could afford to pay. It's people like Klein who want to be 'movers & shakers' but really just don't have a clue...and that worries me. These people want to run things but haven't a clue. It's time we start getting people who have real experience, who have actually done things -- accomplished concrete goals -- into Congress and our state legislatures, because if we continue the way we are, we'll have given away all of our freedoms and not have any idea where they went..."
Merv Benson at PrairiePundit:
"My own feeling is that things will get worse for Obama as voters start to realize how bad his anti energy policy is and what it is going to cost them. It happens to be an issue where Sarah Palin has a leg up on the other contenders too."
Dana Loesch at Big Journalism:
"If union bosses are trying to send a message by refusing to do the work that they get paid six figures for, then message received: they’re extortionists and irrelevant. Every single one of them, from the bosses on down – except for the brave souls whose hearts are soft and felt the need to blow the whistle – should be fired and [held] responsible for any suit by the above listed who suffered... Media Matters/Insert Soros-Funded Faux Media Outlet Here is predictably too busy stalking Fox/Andrew Breitbart/Sarah Palin/whomever and whatever Soros tells them to stalk to report on this. I’m sure they’re still strategizing on which narrative would best make it all Fox News’ fault."
Scared Monkeys:
"Katie Couric Says, 'Maybe We Need a Muslim Version of The Cosby Show' to Stop American Bigotry... And Katie Couric had the nerve to criticise Sarah Palin for her comments... We not only have media bias, we are witness to media stupidity."
Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit:
"MSNBC Host & Panelist Karen Hunter: Pray For Sarah Palin to Go Away for 'America’s Sake'... Let’s face it. Sarah Palin was effective. She was one of the most effective conservatives battling against the Democrats' socialist agenda these past two years. No wonder they’re praying for her to go away... When they say 'for America’s sake' they’re talking, of course, about the United Socialist States of America, not the USA we all know and love."

Quote of the Day (January 1, 2011)

*
David Shedlock at Caffeinated Thoughts:
"A recent Clarus poll was apparently designed to promote the candidacies of moderate Mitt Romney and liberal Michael Bloomberg, and diss Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin. Just below, has to be one of the worst polling questions in the history of presidential politics:
'If you had to pick between the two––would you prefer the next Republican presidential candidate be a moderate conservative who has a good chance of beating Barack Obama …or… someone who is an outspoken conservative who has only a fair chance of beating Barack Obama?'
The question pairs ideas in a manner deliberately created to push one kind of candidate over another. Notice that the moderate candidate is presented as having a good chance to beat Obama while the conservative is only given a fair chance... Polls like these are not only unscientific, they are downright deceitful."

The Ignorant Fishermen reviews 'America By Heart'

"Sarah is the right woman at the right time"
*
Here are some excerpts from the review of America By Heart by The Ignorant Fishermen:
As TRUE Americans today have cried out to Almighty God for help – just as our Founding Fathers did- to restore our nation to a place in which it would turn from its gross wickedness and secular lawless bent, it would seem in Almighty God's grace and mercy that He has heard our prayers. Sarah is the right woman at the right time. I know that this statement is too much for a lot of people to handle but it is what it is.

Sarah’s American vision is the vision of our Founding Fathers, which comprehended the absolute need to obey and honor the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God. In this book, Sarah shares her views of America, family, faith and flag from this perspective.

The other day I downloaded Sarah’s new book, “Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag” on my iPod. As I began to listen, I personally loved the personal touch in which Sarah herself narrates this book. One of the things that I greatly enjoyed about this book is that Sarah shares and echos my personal beliefs of America and that she is not intimidated to speak of the very ideals that made America great! This book will fire up the conservative American and that individual will be nodding “that’s right!” all thought her book.

Sarah’s “Reaganesque” qualities have been quite refreshing these last couple of years and a great encouragement to TRUE Americans everywhere. We have lack genuine conservative leadership in America for some time and Sarah has seemed to fill this void. As the American apostate movement (progressive secular left) seeks to overturn and replace our Judeo/Christian culture, morality, Constitution, and God given liberties, Sarah has been a voice for millions who seek to preserve our nation and to keep it the way it was founded. Sarah's book will totally fire up all those who genuinely love TRUE freedom, TRUE liberty, the American dream and its Founding ideals.

In this book, she quotes and speaks about great U.S. and world statesmen like George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Booker T. Washington, Calvin Coolidge, Abigail Adams etc. She speaks of our nation’s founding and our Founding Father’s vision for America. She speaks - with great pride - about our military men and women and how we are all indebted to them. She speaks about the Tea Party movement and the Tea Party American individuals who have let their voices be heard this last year. She speaks about TRUE feminism and against the evils of the perverted and twisted secular feminist movement of the godless left. She speaks about her love for her family and how they have been a great inspiration and blessing to her. She gives insight into some of her trials and how she was able to overcome them. She speaks about the slanderous and vicious attacks of the Secular leftist media on her and her family and how she was and is able to cope with these haters. She defines for us the term “mama grizzly” and she boldly talks about the failing family unit in America today, morality, abortion, God and the harmful social and cultural effects of secular socialism.

The reviewer's only negative comments about Gov. Palin's second book are related to her discussion of faith, which he believes she does in "very relativistic and pluralistic language." A fundamentalist Christian, he seems troubled by the fact that the governor didn't denounce Mitt Romney's Mormonism as a "cult" (as fundamentalists so often do) or attack JFK's Catholic faith (although she did criticize Kennedy for not embracing his faith in his famous speech to a gathering of pastors in Houston). We can only imagine the firestorm her critics would have torched had she done so.

This brings up what we see as a very important point. Though continually attacked by the secular left as a bible-thumping theocrat, Sarah Palin's faith is regarded by many on the extreme fundamentalist Christian right as "weak tea." She's too Christian for the extreme left and not Christian enough for the extreme right. Which calls to mind the old cliche that if she is taking flak from both extremes, she must be right over the target. As a politician, albeit a very different kind of politician than those we are used to, she should be expected to speak as a lay person rather than as a preacher.

Though Gov. Palin has never shied away from publicly expressing her abiding faith in the Almighty, Christ Jesus is a very personal Savior for her, and we not only understand that relationship, we sympathize with it. Many people prefer to leave deeper discussions of God the Son and God the Holy Spirit to church and other religious venues. Sarah Palin has never attacked or demeaned the faith of others, especially not in the pages of a book intended to be read by millions of people of various denominations, including the non denominational. It would be political suicide to do so, which is a fact that seems to be overlooked by some on the Christian right who seem to want their politicians to sabotage their own political viability by sounding like television evangelist preachers at all times. Bottom line: Gov. Palin is secure enough in her own faith to trust others to be secure in theirs. Let God sort 'em out. It is, after all, His job, not ours.
