Beaufort Observer: Sarah Palin lays out 2012 blueprint

*
In an editorial in North Carolina's The Beaufort Observer, the editors credit Gov. Palin, by virtue of her Facebook op-ed "An Open Letter to Republican Freshmen Members of Congress," has put to rest the Democrats' "The Party of NO" argument against Republicans:
We would suggest that this piece contains some very profound points.

First, it is a "tell it like it is" challenge to the new members of the House but also to those Republicans who may be still stuck in the "we need to reach out to the Democrats and work across the aisle." It should be a clarion call to forget the idea that principles can be compromised in order to be "nice guys."

Secondly, it should be viewed as a clear statement of what the Tea Party Movement expects of not only the newly elected representatives, but indeed of all elected officials.

[...]

And thirdly, we believe one can see in this piece the 2012 presidential campaign spelled out...

Ziegler: The real story behind Kathleen Parker’s bizarre Palin boast

*
In a Daily Caller opinion piece, documentary filmmaker and author John Ziegler tells the story behind his recent appearance on CNN's ratings-challenged "Parker Spitzer" program in which he managed to get faux conservative Kathleen Parker to boast that she "led" the media assassination of Sarah Palin:
The only reason anyone cared that I went on the show was that, for some inexplicable reason, I was apparently the first person to ever confront Kathleen Parker, who is billed as a “conservative” on the show, about how and why she could have possibly endorsed Barack Obama for president while also allowing herself to be used by the left-wing media to help destroy the VP candidacy of Sarah Palin. This in itself is truly stunning to me and an indication that conservatives do an incredibly lousy job of enforcing even a meager amount of accountability on those who betray the cause for no substantive reason and with the obvious motive of augmenting their elite television and dinner party invitations.

Frankly, the only reason I agreed to even do the appearance was to get the chance to finally confront Parker about her obvious sell out.

[...]

Most of the focus has been on Parker responding to my attempts to get her to admit the treason she committed in 2008 by going in the other direction (in what I perceived at the time as a knee-jerk “fight or flight” response) and actually bragging that she “led” the “assassination” of Sarah Palin 1.0 (which is a term I have used to describe Palin’s pre-Fox News persona, which I see as fundamentally different than the one she was forced to create due to the media’s unfair targeting of her).

[...]

While Parker’s admission about “leading” the “assassination” of Palin (1.0) was both bizarre and shocking (and elicited a rather perfect tweet from Palin herself), almost totally lost in that skirmish is that Parker blatantly lied when she denied ever endorsing Obama as a presidential candidate. A simple look at Charles Krauthammer’s evisceration of Parker’s Obama folly reveals that this was really the most remarkable revelation of my appearance.

Ed Morrissey points out that Parker attempted to walk back her braggadocio only 24 hours after Ziegler pushed her "truth" button:
After asserting that she “led” the charge againstSarah Palin in 2008 the day before, Kathleen Parker revisited her comments and the greater media bias against Palin last night, adding a few revisions. For one, she didn’t really lead the charge against Palin– “the liberal media” did– and did treat Palin, in some instances, “cruelly, and partly because she’s a woman.” She and co-host Eliot Spitzer further explored the relationship between Palin and the media with Mediaite founder Dan Abrams.

Parker modified her earlier statement about “leading” the assassination, toning it down to being the first on the right after Palin’s damning interview with Katie Couric to question her qualifications.
Can that actually be walked back? After proclaiming oneself to be the leader of a media assassination movement, can one credibly backtrack to a position of sadness over its success? I’d say that either Parker realized that she had crossed a line — or CNN did. John’s point is validated in this retreat.
Too late, Ms. Parker. You've already demonstrated to the entire world that you're a jealous harpy, a Vichy Republican and not by any stretch of the imagination a "conservative."

Quote of the Day (November 14, 2010)

*
Mark Noonan at Blogs For Victory:
"Reagan manfully tried to break the link between the GOP and Wall Street, but was stymied by the way Wall Street manages to get its hooks in to everyone... Now, in 2010 and heading towards 2012, the people are in no mood for anyone who is too connected with the financial nitwits who led us off the cliff. Sarah Palin – who is smarter than anyone else in politics, just as Reagan was in his day – sees this, understands this, and knows that both in purely political as well as economic terms, it is time to break the banks as well as the bureaucrats. To battle, that is, with Big Government and Big Corporation in favor of the people – and the small and mid-sized business which are the back bone of America. America’s economy is stifled under taxes and regulations which work out to protection and subsidy for those already on top, who keep the bribes flowing to the political class to keep things as they are. In order to get a real, expanding American economy, these fetters must be broken. And so, to battle – a battle which, so far in the GOP 2012 ranks, only Sarah Palin is engaged... And if she goes in to 2012 as the only candidate understanding this, then she will win it all."

"On Fire" Edition
*

Armstrong Williams at Townhall.com:
"A popularized Palin continues to connect with many Americans and has become their symbol of a possible new renaissance across the Heartland. She is nothing short of a ball of fire that has creatively rallied groups, such as her Grizzly Moms, to stand up for conservative principles and be heard. More recently, she was able to turn election races around for many conservative candidates in South Carolina and. The possibilities of what she can and has accomplished in American political theatre are endless and downright heart-warming to her devout supporters. Does anyone now doubt Sarah Palin's increasing star power on the political stage?"
Don Surber at the Charleston Daily Mail:
"Sarah Palin, president of West Virginia..."
Ross Douthat on his NY Times blog:
"As evidence against my skepticism of Sarah Palin’s supposed front-runner status for 2012, I give you the latest round of Public Policy Center polls... All of her leads are relatively slim, but the fact that she’s ahead of Huckabee in Texas and West Virginia is notable, and her leads in Maine (by 23 percent to Romney’s 18 percent and Huckabee’s 16 percent) and Wisconsin (with 18 percent to Huckabee’s 15 percent and Gingrich’s 14 percent) suggest that a Palin candidacy might have a wider geographic appeal than earlier polls had implied."
WTXF-TV in Philadelphia:
"A new national study shows that people were more likely to vote for Sarah Palin for President after watching a TV ad featuring her..."
Jack at The Western Word:
"It was not really much of a secret that former GOP Congressman Rick Hill would announce that he was running for Montana Governor in 2012... So now there are three: Ken Miller, Cory Stapleton, and Rick Hill... But probably the biggest thing that will help decide the Republican primary for Governor is the answer to this question: WWSE – Who Will Sarah Endorse…of course that Sarah is Sarah Palin. Palin does make endorsements in primaries. She has a following in Big Sky Country. Miller has had some contact with Palin at an event in Missoula earlier this year. It could be a big prize if SarahPac sends resources to one of the candidates to help out in the primary or if Palin, herself, comes to the aid of one of the candidates because the other two are not worthy enough conservatives in her eyes."
Inside Edition:
"George W. Bush says he's a fan of Sarah Palin... on The O'Reilly Factor, Bush said, 'I think [her VP nomination] energized the party. There was a moment where people were kind of in the doldrums, and Sarah Palin arrived and boom!'"
Ed Morrissey at Hot Air:
"In an open letter to the [congressional] freshman class, Palin offers the policy syllabus so familiar to those in and around the Tea Party movement: stop ObamaCare, cut spending, shrink government, enforce the borders, and strengthen national security. Palin lays all of these goals out well, but her advice at the end about the distractions that will push the newly-elected from their path is perhaps the most important part of her letter, and should be required reading for every Republican on Capitol Hill..."
Patterico:
"Sarah Palin’s Open Letter to Incoming Members of Congress... Well written and right on target... It really is quite good."
bc3b at Be John Galt:
"In 1994 the newly elected GOP majority started out with a bang. As time went on the seemingly determined politicos became the establishment and morphed into the high-spending, big government Republicans that passed record budgets and earmarks for the folks back home and special interests … and created what – at the time – were record deficits. Sarah Palin wants to make sure the Class of 2010 avoids the pitfalls that destroyed the classes of 1994 and 1996. It’s already become obvious that people like Mitch McConnell and Trend Lott want the freshmen to trade their Tea Party values for establishment Republican values. Yesterday she provided some words of wisdom via Facebook... Seldom has one lone individual had such an impact … and looked so good doing it."
Bluegrass Pundit:
"CNN's Kathleen Parker is one of their 'conservative' commentators. Parker thought Obama was a moderate and "led" the attack against Sarah Palin. With conservatives like that, who needs liberals?"
Mark Finkelstein at NewsBusters:
"In the promo fluff for its future flop, CNN calls Kathleen Parker a "conservative" commentator. So what's a 'conservative' in CNN's book? Someone who, when accused of taking part in the media 'assassination' of Sarah Palin, brags that she didn't merely take part—she 'led it.' ... Parker made her bizarre boast on... Parker Spitzer. It came in the course of her interview of John Ziegler, creator of the documentary 'Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted.' While denying she had been 'duped' by Obama, Parker admitted that during the campaign she 'bought into the Obama moderation myth.' Then came her 'assassination' boast."
Michael Franc, of the Heritage Foundation:
"[Sarah Palin] has a very powerful role to play. She has something almost no one else in this country has right now: she can drive a national debate with merely a tweet."
Alex Spillius in The Telegraph:
"For the former vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin's Alaska marks a typically unconventional, but also typically lucrative, contribution to the political scene... Even reviewers in the mainstream press which Mrs Palin disdains have admitted it could prove beneficial to her image. The Washington Post said the series 'makes Palin about a thousand times more relatable and likeable than any previous effort' and marked a step forward in 'her brand advancement.'"
Joanna Weiss at the left wing Boston Globe:
"Palin... understands how to use reality TV the way the Kennedys understood how to use photography."
Paige Albiniac at the NY Post:
"Asked what’s behind the Palin appeal, producers of both 'Sarah Palin’s Alaska' and 'Dancing with the Stars' say Americans can relate to these women. 'The first time I met her, I went up to her house in Wasilla to sit down with her and Todd and talk about the show,' says Nancy Daniels, TLC’s senior vice president of production and development. 'Sarah was a gracious host... She’s well-spoken, charming and she tells it like it is.' As for Bristol, “Dancing with the Stars”’ executive producer Conrad Green says... Bristol... has been progressing steadily, and 'Dancing' fans respond to that... 'Bristol is quite a pretty dancer. People have had better scores than Bristol but the audience chose to keep her. Progress gets rewarded from day one, and she’s on a very interesting path at the moment.'"

Lorie Byrd Reviews 'Sarah Palin's Alaska'

*
Excerpts from Lorie Byrd's review of "Sarah Palin's Alaska" for Big Hollywood:
Will TLC’s new reality show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, make you want to book a vacation to “America’s last frontier?” You betcha, it will. It will also give you a glimpse inside the Palin family and into the life of one of the most famous and interesting women in the world.

The star of the show may be Sarah Palin, but she shares equal billing with the breathtaking Alaskan wildlife and countryside. In the first episode we see a fierce mama brown bear and her cubs fishing just yards away from a small boat where the Palins are casting their lines. Watching them interact so intimately with nature (wild bears for goodness sake!) is something you don’t see every day. Actually it is pretty incredible.

Also in the premier episode, through top notch photography and production, we see beautiful footage of Mt. McKinley and learn a little bit about what is involved in climbing the largest mountain in North America.

The Palins don’t just give us a tour, flying from remote location to remote location. They share the experience – boating, fishing, hiking and even mountain climbing – doing it themselves. At times they challenge their own weaknesses and limitations (for example, mountain climbing in spite of a fear of heights).

[...]

Even though Palin has lived her whole life in Alaska, she frequently talks about being in “awe” of the beauty around her. Upon landing on Ruth Glacier she said she got “goose bumps.” Seeing the beauty of Palin’s part of the country, the absolute majesty of God’s creation, and how she challenges herself in her adventures there, it is understandable how Palin might think nothing of challenging the power in Washington, DC.

Quote of the Day (November 13, 2010)

*
Meredith Jessup at The Blaze:
"In one of the more amusing attempts to discredit Glenn Beck’s week-long expose on billionaire George Soros’ unparalleled influence in global politics, Salon’s Justin Elliott reports that one of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin‘s aides is actually on Soros’ payroll. Scandal! Uh, not quite... The fact that one individual obviously knowledgeable on international politics advised the one-time vice presidential contender is moot, and extending this individual connection and extrapolating a wider relationship between Scheunemann‘s entire firm and Soros’ global business empire is a stretch, to say the very least. After an entire week of reporting the questionable agenda and unchallenged facts presented in Beck’s look at the 'puppet master,' is this seriously the best, er, refutation (?) the left can come up with?"

Special "I can see 'Sarah Palin's Alaska' from my house" Edition
*

Frazier Moore of The Associated Press:
"Whatever you may think of Sarah Palin, the fact remains Alaska is magnificent with her as its presenter. 'Sarah Palin’s Alaska,' premiering Sunday on TLC, adds 'TV host' to Palin’s crowded resume, which already includes former governor, former GOP vice presidential candidate, best-selling author and conservative superstar. Palin also is a wife, a mother of five and a grandmother, of course, and her new series integrates her home life with Alaska’s great outdoors... Judging from the first of eight episodes, 'Sarah Palin’s Alaska' keeps politics out of the picture. Sure, the show is effective in selling the Palin brand. But along the way, Palin throws herself into selling the grandeur of Alaska."
Melissa Clouthier via Liberty Pundits:
"I think that the left is not going to like it, NOT because she comes off poorly, but because she comes off so humanly and well."
Mike Scotti, guest blogging at at You Served:
"Sarah Palin’s Alaska... is scheduled to premiere November 14, 2010 at 9/8c on TLC. The show looks to take viewers into the country’s ‘final frontier’ through the eyes of one of its most famous citizens – Sarah Palin. Produced by Mark Burnett Productions, I knew that the show would be extremely well made and that it would engage the audience. I was not disappointed. But I was not prepared for the truly awe-inspiring beauty of the Alaskan landscape. Sweeping shots of glacial mountain ranges. Emerald waters in which Sarah and her daughters fish for salmon. Grizzly bears in the rugged, undisturbed wilderness. After the first five minutes of the show, I was wishing that I could hop on a plane with a rucksack and a few weeks off to go and see it for myself."
Jim Geraghty at NRO's Campaign Spot:
"...the program does seem set to reveal the personality of a major political figure in a truly groundbreaking manner."
Guy T. Wehman at NightbeatRadio.com"
"Many critics are out there slamming Sarah and the making of this series as merely a ploy to lure people into her camp so that she can run in the upcoming presidential election for 2012. All I have to say is 'Tough!' Get over it! Sarah is a bit of fresh air in the media din that drones on night after night. Her values are wholesome and straight from the heart. The Alaskan scenery should be enough to command at least a one time 'look-see'"
Thomas S Schmitz at Jefferson's Rebels:
"People will see the vast wilderness of Alaska and the beauty of God's creation that Sarah talks about all the time. It truly is a great wonder, a majestic place that so fills Sarah's heart."
Jennifer Graham Kizer at ivillage.com:
"Sarah Palin’s Alaska (TLC, Sunday, Nov.14, 9 p.m. ET) turns out to be more of a travelogue than a laundry-airing vanity project. Palin and various family members embark on legitimate adventures amidst captivating scenery and fascinating wildlife. Alaska itself is so magnificent, and the filming is so well done, that even Palin haters will feel a sense of awe. Many find her annoying when she brags about her state, but no one can dispute that her state is, indeed, breathtakingly beautiful... The show is about Palin, not Alaska. But at times the state does upstage its former governor. And to her credit, Palin obviously doesn’t mind..."
Stephanie at My Kids Made Me This Way:
"I think I shouldn’t like her, but damned if I don’t LOVE her. I can’t wait to watch Sarah Palin’s Alaska on Sunday. I will vote for her if given the chance, count on that."
Michelle Horstman at NewsReal Blog:
"TLC's new series, 'Sarah Palin’s Alaska' premieres this Sunday night, Nov. 14th, despite the best efforts of her detractors to shut it down. What might appear on the surface to be an effort by those who oppose her views on conservation and hunting issues is, in reality, backed by the usual suspects who seek to shut down any voices who do not go along with their progressive agenda. Those who claim to be the biggest advocates of free speech continue to prove that their brand of free speech only applies to speech (and programming) that fits with their ideology; no others need apply... Whether you are a fan of Sarah Palin or not, I strongly suggest you watch every minute of TLC’s production; if not for what you might learn about Palin, than just for the sheer pleasure of driving the usual suspects crazy with the ratings. Will I be watching? You betcha!"
Doug Ross at Director Blue:
"I don't care what you think about Sarah Palin's viability as a presidential candidate, one thing is for certain... She has a much better, much more refined and self-deprecating sense of humor than certain other folks currently serving in office."
Lori Brenneman via Conservatives 4 Palin:
"Having just come from a pre-screening of 'Sarah Palin's Alaska', I must start by saying that this is a true feel-good series. It was fun. And that, I believe, is the intent here. Those who watch the series hoping to get inside Sarah Palin's head and find out what makes her Sarah Palin will, instead, discover that it is a travelogue. It is precisely what Sarah Palin maintained all along that it would be... Not that there aren't glimpses into the family life of the Palins. There are a number of them, all pleasing in their authenticity... Although Gov. Palin has lived in Alaska her entire life, she approached each adventure with an undimmed first-time enthusiasm that was wonderfully refreshing... This is a show that families can watch together and honestly enjoy, from the youngest children to the older adults."
Jennifer at Riehl World View:
"After I warned about the trembling from liberals before the premiere of TLC's Sarah Palin's Alaska, we finally have our first case of Palin Derangement Syndrome by a TV reviewer from the New Yorker... this person takes her critique to another level. Even using Palin's children to attack Palin."
Adrienne Ross at Motivation Truth:
"Via Facebook, Governor Palin discusses "Sarah Palin's Alaska" and her refusal to allow the critics to stop her from showing off her state with all its beauty and rich resources. Having spent some time in the Last Frontier myself, I applaud the Governor for doing this series. Those who watch and see the mountains, the waters, and the wild animals will long to visit this state that brings clear understanding of why residents call it God's Country."
Paula Street at Boston's WODS-FM:
"Forget the politics, 'Sarah Palin’s Alaska' 8-week reality show looks like a blast."
Katie Pavlich at Townhall.com:
"When we think of reality show, we think trashy housewives and serial dating, but this is not your typical reality show. Instead, 'Sarah Palin's Alaska' is a unique look into faith, family, love, strong American values and the natural beauty Alaska has to offer... Overall, this is an opportunity for viewers to see Sarah Palin for who she really is personally, as a wife, mother and career woman, without the media spin machine distorting her image or the distraction of being surrounded by political hoopla. "

Why you can't believe the left wing media

*
For over two years now, moonbat blogs and the left wing lamestream media have been repeating what Levi Johnston said in his infamous Vanity Fair interview: that Sarah Palin is not a huntress and and doesn't know one end of a gun from the other. Did even one of these intrepid reporters bother to do a little checking just in case Levi might be -- you know -- bearing false witness? Apparently not:

Oh, well, so much for that liberal lie...

Sarah Palin: Welcome GOP Members of Congress

*
Gov. Palin welcomes newly-elected Republicans in an open letter posted early this morning on Facebook:
An Open Letter to Republican Freshmen Members of Congress

Welcome to all Republican Freshmen and congratulations!

Congratulations to all of you for your contribution to this historic election, and for the contributions I am certain you will make to our country in the next two years. Your victory was hard fought, and the success belongs entirely to you and the staff and volunteers who spent countless hours working for this chance to put government back on the side of the people. Now you will come to Washington to serve your nation and leave your mark on history by reining in government spending, preserving our freedoms at home, and restoring America’s leadership abroad. Some of you have asked for my thoughts on how best to proceed in the weeks and months ahead and how best to advance an agenda that can move our country forward. I have a simple answer: stick to the principles that propelled your campaigns. When you take your oath to support and defend our Constitution and to faithfully discharge the duties of your office, remember that present and future generations of “We the People” are counting on you to stand by that oath. Never forget the people who sent you to Washington. Never forget the trust they placed in you to do the right thing.

The task before you is daunting because so much damage has been done in the last two years, but I believe you have the chance to achieve great things.

Republicans campaigned on a promise to rein in out-of-control government spending and to repeal and replace the massive, burdensome, and unwanted health care law President Obama and the Democrat Congress passed earlier this year in defiance of the will of the majority of the American people. These are promises that you must keep. Obamacare is a job-killer, a regulatory nightmare, and an enormous unfunded mandate. The American people don’t want it and we can’t afford it. We ask, with all due respect, that you remember your job will be to work to replace this legislation with real reform that relies on free market principles and patient-centered policies. The first step is, of course, to defund Obamacare.

You’ve also got to be deadly serious about cutting the deficit. Despite what some would like us to believe, tax cuts didn’t get us into the mess we’re in. Government spending did. Tough decisions need to be made about reducing government spending. The longer we put them off, the worse it will get. We need to start by cutting non-essential spending. That includes stopping earmarks (because abuse of the earmark process created the "gateway-drug" that allowed backroom deals and bloated budgets), canceling all further spending on the failed Stimulus program, and rolling back non-discretionary spending to 2008 levels. You can do more, but this would be a good start.

In order to avert a fiscal disaster, we will also need to check the growth of spending on our entitlement programs. That will be a huge challenge, but it must be confronted head on. We must do it in a humane way that honors the government’s current commitments to our fellow Americans while also keeping faith with future generations. We cannot rob from our children and grandchildren’s tomorrow to pay for our unchecked spending today. Beyond that, we need to reform the way Congress conducts business in order to make it procedurally easier to cut spending than to increase it. We need to encourage zero-based budgeting practices in D.C. like the kind fiscally conservative mayors and governors utilize to balance their budgets and reduce unnecessary spending.

There in the insulated and isolated Beltway you will be far removed from the economic pain felt by so many Americans who are out of work. Please remember that if we want real job growth, we must create a stable investment climate by ending the tidal wave of overly burdensome regulations coming out of Washington. Businesses need certainty – and freedom that incentivizes competition – to grow and expand our workforce.

The last thing our small businesses need is tax hikes. It falls to the current Democrat-controlled Congress to decide on the future of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts. If it does not permanently renew all of them, you should move quickly to do so in the new Congress. It would remove from households and businesses the threat of a possible $3.8 trillion tax hike hitting all Americans at the worst possible moment, with our economy struggling to recover from a deep recession! You must continue to remind Democrats that the people they are dismissing as “rich” are the small business owners who create up to 70% of all jobs in this country!

Another issue of vital importance is border security. Americans expect our leadership in Washington to act now to secure our borders. Don’t fall for the claims of those who suggest that we can’t secure our borders until we simultaneously deal with the illegal immigrants already here. Let’s deal with securing the border first. That alone is a huge challenge that has been ignored for far too long.

On foreign policy and national security, I urge you to stick to our principles: strong defense, free trade, nurturing allies, and steadfast opposition to America’s enemies. We are the most powerful country on earth and the world is better off because of it. Our president does not seem to understand this. If we withdraw from the world, the world will become a much more dangerous place. You must push President Obama to finish the job right in Iraq and get the job done in Afghanistan, otherwise we who are war-weary will forever question why America’s finest are sent overseas to make the ultimate sacrifice with no clear commitment to victory from those who send them. You should be prepared to stand with the President against Iran’s nuclear aspirations using whatever means necessary to ensure the mullahs in Tehran do not get their hands on nuclear weapons. And you can stand with the Iranian people who oppose the tyrannical rule of the clerics and concretely support their efforts to win their freedom – even if the President does not.

You need to say no to cutting the necessities in our defense budget when we are engaged in two wars and face so many threats – from Islamic extremists to a nuclear Iran to a rising China. As Ronald Reagan said, “We will always be prepared, so we may always be free.” You will also have the opportunity to push job-creating free trade agreements with allies like Colombia and South Korea. You can stand with allies like Israel, not criticize them. You can let the President know what you believe – Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, not a settlement. And for those of you joining the United States Senate, don’t listen to desperate politically-motivated arguments about the need for hasty consideration of the “New START” treaty. Insist on your right to patient and careful deliberation of New START to address very real concerns about verification, missile defense, and modernization of our nuclear infrastructure. No New START in the lame duck!

You can stand against misguided proposals to try dangerous, evil terrorists in the US; precipitously close the Guantanamo prison; and a return to the failed policies of the past in treating the war on terror as a law enforcement problem. Finally, you have a platform to express the support of the American people for all those around the world seeking their freedom that God has bestowed within all mankind’s being – from Burma and Egypt to Russia and Venezuela – because the spread of liberty increases our own security. You, freshmen lawmakers, can and will be powerful voices in support of foreign policies that protect our interests and promote our values! Thank you for being willing to fight for our values and our freedom!

In all this, you should extend a hand to President Obama and Democrats in Congress. After this election, they may finally be prepared to work with Republicans on some of these issues for the good of the country. And if not, we will all be looking forward to 2012.

Remember that some in the media will love you when you stray from the time-tested truths that built America into the most exceptional nation on earth. When the Left in the media pat you on the back, quickly reassess where you are and readjust, for the liberals' praise is a warning bell you must heed. Trust me on that.

I and most Americans are so excited for you. Working together, we have every right to be optimistic about our future. We can be hopeful because real hope lies in the ingenuity, generosity, and boundless courage of the everyday Americans who make our country exceptional. These are the men and women who sent you to Washington. May your work and leadership honor their faith in you.

With sincere congratulations and a big Alaskan heart,

Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin: Follow Me There!

*
Gov. Palin invites her 2,397,796 Facebook friends to tune in to "Sarah Palin's Alaska" this weekend:
Follow Me There! (To Alaska!)

“They’re going to criticize me no matter what I do, so I might as well dance.” – Bristol Palin

Race car great Mario Andretti once said, “If everything’s under control then you’re going too slow.” In Alaska, we have two speeds in the summertime: fast and faster – that’s because Alaskan summers are so short and sweet. We always try to cram it all in before the leaves change and snow flies again. Seasons change so quickly up here that we’re full-speed ahead to capture every minute under the Midnight Sun doing what we love to do in the great outdoors.

Last summer my family documented our travels through Alaska so that the rest of America could see and experience our country’s young, independent, resource-rich Last Frontier.

From sliming salmon together at our family’s commercial fishing sites on the world’s largest salmon spawning grounds in Bristol Bay, to white water rafting in the wilds, searching for gold, climbing mountains, hunting wild game near rich oil fields, and watching mama bears protecting their cubs a mere stone’s throw away from my own, Alaska will be highlighted in a spectacular way in this eight-week TLC series called “Sarah Palin’s Alaska.” We’ll show you what inspires and motivates us: the grandeur of God’s creation, the satisfaction of a good day’s hard work, the rugged pioneering spirit that carves a life out of the wilderness and makes a living on the waters, the wisdom and traditions of our Alaska Natives, and the wealth of our natural resources which allows us to support ourselves and contribute to America’s security.

So, while traveling by bush planes, dog sleds, four-wheelers, trucks, and boom boats across the vast expanses of America’s largest state, my family documented Alaska to share it with other American families.

No doubt critics who seem to live to criticize will follow suit with this project. So be it. Todd and I are showing people our home state which we love, and we wanted to create the sort of family-friendly, uplifting, educational television that we like to watch with our kids. We made something that people could watch as a family, have fun discussing the project’s content, and maybe then decide that they want to head up to the Last Frontier and see the epic 49th state for themselves.

Americans are hungry for decent entertainment that doesn’t offend our sensibilities or insult our intelligence. So many parents are upset about all of the negative things on television. We’re often told to just turn off the TV, but let’s face it: turning it off doesn’t really shut it off. You can’t block out the world. Instead of turning the TV off, families usually end up making the most of what’s on – even if the message is anything but positive. The only real solution is to offer positive alternatives. That’s what we have done here. It’s my hope that these eight episodes will be just such a positive offering, and a tribute to Alaska, and a reminder of America’s pioneering spirit.

Sure, there will be the usual critics who still won’t understand why we would document the natural resources and uniqueness of the Last Frontier, though in doing this I am keeping my promise to fellow Alaskans that I would do all I could to support and promote Alaska. My answer to those naysayers is the reminder my daughter Bristol offered when she was blessed with the opportunity to participate on “Dancing with the Stars.” I cautioned Bristol about all the criticism she’d no doubt encounter. Bristol told me, “Mom, they’re going to criticize me no matter what I do, so I might as well dance!” Yes, they’ll criticize us no matter what, so I might as well climb and fly and trek and build and hunt and fish and share with you the awe-inspiring beauty of Alaska...and because I wanted my family along for the ride, I want your family to come along, too. Follow me there!

Please tune in Sunday at 9:00 pm (8:00 pm central). The show’s opening lyrics sing the invitation: “Come on and follow me there...to my sanctuary! Follow me there!”

Quote of the Day (November 12, 2010)

Chris Cillizza at The Fix:
"If Palin does decide to run -- and we tend to think, based on her public pronouncements, she is leaning that way -- she would be a (and maybe the) prime mover in the race."

Sarah Palin: The Major $25 News Story

*
Posted tonight by Gov. Palin on her Facebook Notes page:
The Major $25 News Story

With all that is happening in the world I can’t believe the media is in a tizzy because SarahPAC’s last filing was off by a total of $25. Our treasurer and attorney report that our vendor who handles these calculations is re-looking at the figures to find out where the $25 glitch is in their system. Everything else in today’s very rudimentary and quite ordinary FEC inquiry letter has been answered. If anyone would care to look at other PACs, they’ll discover that they get these sorts of letter too and many of them much more frequently than SarahPAC. But, golly, sure glad the LSM (including KTUU in Anchorage) is on top of this “controversy”!

"Follow Me There"
*
TLC and Provident Label Group have reached an agreement to allow Third Day's "Follow Me There" to be the theme music for the new docu-series "Sarah Palin's Alaska." The first episode airs Sunday at 8PM Texas Time:

Excerpted from the press release:
Tai Anderson, Third Day bass player, shares, "We're honored to have our song chosen for this exciting new show on TLC. It showcases an incredibly beautiful state through the eyes an intriguing family. We've played several shows in Alaska and look forward to performing there in months to come."

"The minute I heard 'Follow Me There,' I loved it and knew it was the only song I wanted for the main title for this series," said Executive Producer Mark Burnett. "I hope this song goes on to win Third Day another Grammy and inspires millions of Americans."

Sarah Palin: “America By Heart” Book Tour

*
Gov. Palin has posted the details of Her "America by Heart" book tour on her Facebook Notes page:
“America By Heart” Book Tour

I’m looking forward to hitting the road again for the release of my new book “America By Heart.” The book is a collection of essays and reflections about our exceptional country. It discusses the ideals we must pass on to the next generation to ensure that we remain, in the words of Reagan, “the shining city on a hill,” and in the words of Lincoln, “the last best hope of earth.”

Below are dates, times, and locations for the tour. Please feel free to contact each venue for more information. My family will be joining me along the way, and they look forward to meeting you as much as I do. We’ll try to add some more stops if time allows. And, of course, we'll wrap up the whole tour in Alaska just as we did last time.

We can’t wait to see you soon!\

Gov. Palin to Vichy Republican Kathleen Parker: I'm still standing

*
John Ziegler was a guest on CNN's new ratings-challenged "Parker Spitzer" program Thursday, and the following exchange took place:
ZIEGLER: You took part in the targeting of Sarah Palin. You essentially took part in the assassination of Sarah Palin 1.0. That person is dead; she doesn't exist any more.

PARKER: No, no, no. Actually, I did not take part in it: I led it. Let's be clear. Let's get our facts straight.
Indeed, Parker began attacking Gov. Palin only weeks after John McCain named her as his running mate in the 2008 presidential election and hasn't relented to this very day.

The governor responded to the prideful Parker via Twitter Friday:
"Parker: appreciate your admittance. Now, I'm still standing;Standing by family, faith & flag. Who do u stand by today? http://bit.ly/d5p72x"
Oh, I think we know where the despicable Conservative Lite® Parker stands...
