Palin tomato attack FAIL (Update)

You can't make this stuff up, folks. According to FOX9 News in the Twin Cities, some Palin-hatin' moron threw two tomatos at Sarah Palin but missed her by ten feet. Unfortunately for Jeremy Paul Olson (a.k.a. Jeremiah Paul Wobbe), however, one of his mushy missles hit a police officer in the face instead:

A man was arrested for throwing tomatoes at Sarah Palin during her book signing on Monday at the Mall of America.

Jeremy Olson, 33, allegedly threw two tomatoes from the second balcony, however did not come close to hitting Palin.

Bloomington Police report that Bloomington Commander Mark Stehlik was struck in the face with one of the tomatoes and may face charges for assaulting a police officer. Olson was booked at the Bloomington jail. He was arrested for suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct.

First Update: Doh! WCCO is reporting that the idiot of interest hit not one, but TWO police officers with them messy 'maters of his. Bad career move there, Sparky.

Second Update: Leftists are already cheering their veggie-flinging fellow "intellectual" as a hero here. Violence against women is apparently no big deal to the lunatic Left, just as long as the woman isn't one of theirs. And they wonder why only 20 percent of Americans admit to being liberals...

Third Update: An AP video report on the Attack of the Killer Tomato Tosser is up Freedom's Lighthouse. After looking at Tomato Boy's mug shot, we were sure that we had seen that face before. No, it wasn't on an SEIU recruiting poster. The perp's pic looks just like that little photo next to the word "thug" in the dictionary.

Fourth Update: CSM book editor Marjorie Kehe finds the incident "disturbing" and worries about Gov. Palin's safety.

Fifth Update: CBS News of the Lamestream Media expresses disappointment that Owens/Wobbe throws like a girl and didn't thow with better accuracy. CBS knows all about accuracy, being the vehicle for Dan Rather's "fake, but accurate" documents.

Star Trib: Crowds cheer as Palin arrives for book-signing

From the Star Tribune:
By 11:40 -- a full 20 minutes before her scheduled noon event -- Palin ascended the stage to cheers from the crowd, joined by baby Trig and her husband, Todd Palin.

Within moments, Palin began signing books, taking about five seconds apiece to shake with one hand while autographing with the other. Todd cracked open volume after volume to hand to his wife while someone offstage held Trig. She finished signing at 3:37 p.m.
Also an after action-report at Free Republic:
"We had been standing there awhile when there was a stir and bustle, with lots of people ahead of us bunching up in the walkway and taking pictures. It turned out it was Trig Palin being held by a woman, with everyone crowding around. He was wearing a red outfit with silly round plastic glasses. And that's not all -- Sarah Palin's mother, father, and aunt were there, signing books as well (great way to keep the crowd happy while waiting, by the way). I felt sorry for the young woman who was coordinating this, as she kept trying to usher the family to another part of the amusement park to rest and/or meet and greet other people in line, and the line of people kept straggling up for autographs, over her feeble protests that 'we can't sign any more we have to move on.'"

[...]

"One person -- I wasn't close enough to see if it was a man or a woman-- was in a wheelchair at the side of the stage, and Sarah and Todd *stopped* the assembly line to go over to greet and sign their book and greet them in person. To the thunderous applause of all of us near the stage, by the way."

500 in line for Sarah Palin at MOA before dawn

The Star Tribune reports:
Staying up all night. Missing classes and work. The cold. The exacting rules. None of that stopped hundreds of Minnesotans from lining up to see Sarah Palin Monday at her book signing at the Mall of America.

Before dawn, about 500 people snaked in a line about a quarter-mile long at the mall for the chance to interact with the former Republican vice presidential nominee.

The mall stop is part of Palin’s tour to smaller cities across the country to promote her book, “Going Rogue.”

[...]

Erica Dao, a spokeswoman for the Bloomington mall, said the first people began lining up at around 4:30 a.m.

[...]

By 9 a.m. more than 800 people were in line, Dao said.
The Star Trib's Monday edition also has some Rules for Rogues at MOA here, photos here and tweets here.
