Three Bristol Palin Book Signing Appearances Announced

In Minnesota, Alabama and Arizona

With her book, Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far released by William Morrow and now on sale, Bristol Palin will be on the road for several book signing events.

The single mom and motivational speaker will appear at the Mall of America rotunda from 6 to 8 p.m. June 29 in Bloomington, MN, a return to the Twin Cites where her mother accepted the GOP vice presidential nomination during the hurricane-truncated 2008 RNC convention in St. Paul.

Bristol is scheduled for another book signing at the Books-A-Million store in Birmingham, AL's Colonial Brookwood Village July 6 at 7 p.m. The eldest Palin daughter at 20 years old also has an appearance scheduled for signing her new book July 9 at 2:00 PM at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Desert Ridge Marketplace in Phoenix, AZ. All times are local time.

Sarah Palin fans by the hundreds flooded Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Lexington Wednesday night to meet the former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate who visited the store to sign copies of her new book America By Heart:

The book, Palin's thoughts about the future of the United States and words from those she finds most inspiring, was released Nov. 23, about a year after her best-selling memoir Going Rogue.

Kaye Hughes of Lexington brought her daughter Kacie, a fourth-grader. The two secured their two books, which they will give to Kaye's mother and sister for Christmas, on Nov. 16, the first day they were made available. Even though the meet-and-greet was short, the Hugheses said meeting Palin and her daughter Piper made for an exciting evening.

"They were really trying to keep the line moving, but she shook both our hands and asked Kacie about school and just held onto her hand while she talked," Kaye said. "It was cool to meet Piper, too. They're both just very nice."

Tammy Pickett and Jennifer Cross's smiles and neon green sweatshirts shone across the store as they waited for their turn. Pickett embroidered both shirts, which read, "I came to meet the 45th president." She said she made similar sweatshirts when she met President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on their campaign trails.

Pickett said Palin liked the shirts so much she made an exception to her normal rule of signing only books; Palin signed both sweatshirts and had the women pose with her for a photo.

Thursday, Gov. Palin will make book signing stops in Spirit Lake, Iowa and Carmel, Indiana. The first leg of her book tour -- she's hinted that additional signings may be announced at a later date -- wraps up Friday with signing events in Cincinnati, Ohio and Columbia, South Carolina.

Sarah Palin says she will add one more book signing event

Today's book signings at two Air Force bases in Alaska were to be the last on her Going Rogue tour, but Sarah Palin promised Friday on Eddie Burke's radio program that she would hold another event so the general public would be able to attend.

The former governor Tweeted today:

"Heading 2 Eielson Air Force base, Anchorage, 4 book event; military's call 2 keep this military personnel only, so we'll do public event later."

An Air Force spokesperson said that today's events at the two military bases were scheduled on such short notice that the military decided to close them to the public for security reasons.

Freezing fans give Sarah Palin a warm welcome in Oklahoma (Updated)

Hundreds of people spent the night outside Hastings Books — and several hundred more joined them this morning — to get wristbands giving them a chance to get Sarah Palin's autograph.

The former vice presidential candidate and governor of Alaska is due at 7 p.m. to begin signing copies of her memoir "Going Rogue." Norman is her only Oklahoma stop on a national book-signing tour.

The first 500 people in line got wristbands that were handed out at 6:30 a.m. today, but Hastings officials said the actual number who will get their books signed will depend on Palin. Another 250 wristbands went to a standby crowd who will get a chance for an autograph if Palin continues signing after the first 500.

Karen Vermelis and Jana Stuart of Norman spent the night bundled in coats, wrapped in blankets and sitting in lawn chairs underneath a tarp.

"We didn't get much sleep. It was noisy, but it's fun," Vermelis said.

By morning, she said, the line went all the way to the east end of the strip mall where Hastings is located, then curved around a corner and snaked down an alley.

"It almost surrounded the mall," she said.

A Palin tide rolls into Alabama

The Books A Million store in Homewood, near Birmingham, AL, had set aside just 1,000 wristbands for its patrons to get their copies of Going Rogue signed by Sarah Palin at the store Monday. But on Sunday, a crowd of 1,800 showed up to claim their wristbands to be guaranteed a place in today's book signing line. The Brimingham News covered the event:

To the sounds of a crowd chanting her name, Sarah Palin this afternoon greeted her political fans at the Books-A-Million store in Colonial Brookwood Village Mall at Homewood and autographed copies of her new book: "Going Rogue."
 
The former Alaska governor and former GOP vice-presidential candidate drew a crowd that packed the mall two hours before she began signing books about 4:30 p.m. 

Palin was accompanied by several family members including her father Chuck Heath.

The response on this book tour has been overwhelming. We are truly humbled, and I thank you.

I've been told that yesterday there were supporters in Noblesville who stood in long lines for hours in the cold and rain, and the book signing event ended without a chance to say hello to everyone who showed up. I am so sorry. We are working on a solution for those who were left behind.

7:00 AM: 1,500 in line at Grand Rapids bookstore for Sarah Palin signing event

Kathleen Gray of the Detroit Free Press describes the scene outside the Woodland Mall Barnes & Noble bookstore in Grand Rapids early Wednesday morning where Sarah Palin's first Going Rogue book signing event begins at 6:00 PM:

It was 4:55 when the first cheer went up.

“Sarah! Sarah! Sarah!”

And that’s 4:55 this morning when the thermometer had dipped into the 30s. But the 500 or so people in line didn’t mind the sleepless night or the onset of winter.

“What she represents is what we’re standing in line for,” said Robin Case, 44, of Traverse City, who set up a chair and sleeping bag at 9 p.m. Tuesday to make sure she got the chance to meet Sarah Palin, former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate. “She’s real and she’s standing up for what we believe in.”

By 7 a.m., the line had swelled to more than 1,500 people as Barnes & Noble employees wrapped orange wristbands around Palin fans' wrists.

Huge lines this morning meant a record number of book sales at the Grand Rapids Barnes & Noble.

A spokeswoman for Harper Collins tells NBC News more than 1,000 copies of "Going Rogue" have been sold. The bookstore has already run out of wristbands for those standing in line since early this morning. That means the rest of those who waited in the cold will likely not get a chance to get their book signed by Sarah Palin tonight.

B&N Announces "Going Rogue" Book Tour Rules

Via Meta Minton of The Villages Daily Sun, bookseller Barnes & Nobles has released its guidelines for the Nov. 24 visit of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to its outlet in The Villages, where Sarah Palin will sign copies of her memoir Going Rogue.

Store Manager Cheyenne Coon said that because a very large crowd is expected for the 2:30 PM event at Lake Sumter Landing, strict guidelines will be observed for the Palin signing, including:

Wristbands will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 7 a.m. Nov. 24. You must be present in order to get a wristband.

You must present your Barnes & Noble or Barnes andNoble.com receipt for “Going Rogue” in order to get a wristband.

A Maximum of two copies of “Going Rogue” per person will be signed.

A parent or guardian must accompany all minors.

No posed photos.

No personalization of books.

No posed photos.

No personalization of books.

No large bags will be allowed through the signing line.

Cell phones and cameras will have to be turned off and put away before customers approach the signing table.

It was not immediately clear if similar restrictions will govern book signings by Sarah Palin at other Barnes & Noble locations where the former governor will appear, including Grand Rapids, Michigan; Roanoke, Virginia; Orlando, Florida; Sioux City, Iowa; Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Bloomington, Minnesota.
