Group wants to bring Sarah Palin to Fresno Fair

*
Fundraisers are working to bring Sarah Palin to this year's Big Fresno Fair, but so far no agreement has been reached between the group and Gov. Palin's agents, according to The Fresno Bee:
Friends of the Fair spokeswoman Debbie Nalchajian-Cohen issued a statement late Tuesday that the organization "has been in communication with Sarah Palin's representatives."

The statement said the event would be a fundraiser for Friends of the Fair, which pays for improvements to the fairgrounds. As yet, however, no contract has been signed, Nalchajian-Cohen and others said.

"I have not seen a contract; I have not written a check for anything," said Larry Fortune, a real estate-company owner who is treasurer on the Friends of the Fair board.

When a contract is finalized, Fortune added, details likely will not be made public. Already, Fortune said, the Friends of the Fair have been told that any contract will have a confidentiality clause.

It is unclear when Palin would be in Fresno, but the fair is scheduled to run from Oct. 6-17, and the former governor is scheduled to appear at the Bakersfield Business Conference on Oct. 9.

The Los Angeles Times quoted sources that said Palin would be paid $75,000 plus expenses for the Cal State Stanislaus speech. Still, Fortune said a Palin visit could be a big boost for the nonprofit's coffers, which in turn could mean more fair improvements.
