Gov. Palin to receive her own AR-15

NRA members, keep an eye out for your copy of May's American Rifleman, if it hasn't already arrived. According to the latest edition of the magazine, Bob Reynolds, gunsmith and owner of Templar Consulting LLC, will make a special presentation at the NRA Foundation Banquet on May 14.

It's a modified AR-15 (civilian version of the milspec M16 rifle), specially customized in honor of Gov. Sarah Palin and dubbed "The Alaskan Hunter." Chambered for .50 Beowulf instead of the standard 5.56mm cartridge, this special AR features several custom engravings. The Big Dipper is on the magazine well, an outline of the state of Alaska is on the stock, and on the upper receiver are a moose, the NRA logo and an inscription, "In Honor of Governor Sarah Palin."
"Gov. Palin stood up and announced she was a supporter of the Second Amendment," says Reynolds. "I was really excited about that. I feel like the NRA has done a lot for my rights. And I feel the Governor has, too. I just wanted to do something to give back. And since the Governor lives in Alaska, I thought .50 Beowulf was appropriate."
Reynolds actually made two of these very special AR's. One will be presented to the governor, and the other will be auctioned at the Banquet.

  1. Excellent! Now she'll have a custom gun to go along with the custom knife that the North Carolina man made and presented to her and Todd at the Iron Dog start!

I'd say she's armed and ready!

Do you think this means she'll be going to the May 14 banquet to receive it in person and perhaps speak? I certainly hope so. :) Where is it?

    Pro-life banquet? Check.
    NRA banquet? Check.

  2. I've heard rumors to the effect that Gov. Palin's been invited to the NRA convention towards the end of May, but haven't heard if she's attending or not.

It's things like this that tells me that no matter how hard the media, and her enemies both in Alaska, nationally, both within the GOP/RNC and the dems, are failing in their attempt to marginalize her.

News reports from Evansville IN said that when she arrived there was such a crowd outside the building that the cops had to close the street to traffic for safety reasons. These people weren't going to the banquet, they just were there to catch a glimpse of her, take her picture and shake her hand. Inside, it took 20 minutes to get through the wildly enthusiastic crowd of people who wanted pictures, an autograph or a hand shake.

This will be repeated everywhere she goes, now that she is free to travel and attend some of the hundreds of events she's been invited to.

During the campaign thousands, and even tens of thousands of people would stand for hours, sometimes in temps in the 30's or 40's, waiting to see her.

What other politician, with the exception of maybe 0bama, can draw this kind of crowd, and get this kind of reception? Gingrich, Pawlenty, Romney, Huckabee, Jindal, Sanford, not on your life. If they had been in Evansville, I doubt if they would have attracted any more participants than the banquet usually gets, about 2,000, Palin got over 3,000. I also doubt if any of them would have been mobbed either outside or inside, and the cops would not have had to block off the street either.

  3. I just came across this and my boys found it in the magazine. They say "it's a beast!" One asked if it was legal in Alaska. The other said, "Everything's legal in Alaska."
