Film opens Friday in Palm Desert
*
Residents of California's Coachella Valley will finally be able to see the documentary about Sarah Palin beginning Friday. Flagship Palme D'Or 7 theater management was originally told by the film's distributors that 'The Unfefeated' would open there July 22. Then the local premiere got pushed back to July 29, and then August 5.
The information first provided earlier this week for the August 5 opening, however, incorrectly listed a theater in San Diego rather than the Palme D'Or in Palm Desert. The likely reason for the mix up is that the name of the San Diego theater is the "Palm Promenade 24." But the palm trees have been sorted our and the confusion resolved, with the result being that the theater is now correctly identified as the Flagship Palme D'Or 7 in Westfield Shoppingtown, 72840 Highway 111 Suite C-104, Palm Desert, CA 92260. Tickets will be on sale Thursday for Friday's opening.
Palm Desert is a major growth center in the Coachella Valley located about 15 miles east of Palm Springs. It is considered to be a mostly conservative community, with Republicans representing the area in both the California legislature and the U.S. House. Population in the 2010 Census was just under 50,000, with another 46,000 in Palm Springs and 51,000 in nearby Cathedral City.

Look for 3rd expansion of markets for 'The Undefeated' at end of month

According to The Desert Sun, The Undefeated will debut in California's Coachella Valley Friday, July 29:
Film distributors on Monday notified Cinemas Palme d'Or that they'd open “The Undefeated” this coming weekend — only to decide hours later that the local premiere would be pushed back a week.Apparently, the Palm Desert opening will be part of the third market expansion for "The Undefeated" in as many weeks, a strategy which seems to be right in line with director Stephen Bannon's intentions for his documentary:
The local debut will now be held during the July 29 weekend in Palm Desert, a Republican- dominated city that counts Palin's own in-laws as part-time residents.
“We were anxious for the opportunity to play something completely different than what we usually do,” Cinémas Palme d'Or co-owner Brian Tabor said.
“I don't think there's as many opportunities for a product that perhaps reaches a more Republican or conservative base. Documentary filmmakers tend to go with more of a liberal stance with the subjects they cover.”
“Our objective is very simple⎯ to bring this film to every market and every corner of the country; starting with a limited theatrical release and then through an aggressive broader distribution strategy including streaming video, on-demand access and DVD.”The Coachella Valley is the agricultural and recreational desert valley of Southern California, with a population of 600,000. Its four largest cities are Indio, Palm Springs, Cathedral City and Palm Desert.

According to the Fresno Bee, Gov. Palin started speaking at West Hills Community College in Lemoore at 5PM Pacific Time, and the crowd in the new Golden Eagle Arena gave her several standing ovations:
With a large United States flag as a backdrop, Palin talked for approximately 35 minutes, touching on subjects ranging from the growing national debt to water problems facing San Joaquin Valley farmers. As of Saturday, organizers had sold $180,000 to $185,000 in tickets. All the profits from the event will go to support scholarships, programs and facilities at WHCL.
"We are printing up and buying our own notes at an unprecedented rate ... adding to our $14 trillion debt," she said.
She said Valley farmers are facing a government-imposed drought because the government is protecting a 3-inch fish. Protections for the delta smelt have cut off water that otherwise would be used for crops -- affecting farmland, farmers and workers, she said.
"Where I come from, a 3-inch fish,.. we call that bait. There's no reason to destroy people's lives for bait," Palin said.

WHCL officials: Palin paying off for California community college
"It's quite frankly putting West Hills College Lemoore in the map"

Sarah Palin hasn't even delivered her speech at West Hills College Lemoore yet, but school officials tell the Hanford Sentinel that her upcoming appearance on campus is already paying off for the San Joaquin Valley community college. They're $70,000 ahead of the game after paying her $115,000 speakers fee, and even the noise being made by left wing protesters is working in the college's favor by putting West Hills Lemoore on the map:

They're $70,000 ahead of the game after paying her $115,000 speakers fee, and even the noise being made by left wing protesters is working in the college's favor by putting West Hills Lemoore on the map:
"That's the bottom line," said Frances Squire, marketing director for West Hills Community College District. "We're raising funds ... and so we wanted somebody we knew would sell tickets."Meanwhile, workers have been putting in overtime to finish Golden Eagle Arena in time for the governor's appearance in the school's brand new multi-use facility. Her speech begins at 5PM local time Sunday. School officials expect an audience of just under 2,000 people to hear Sarah Plain speak.
WHCL officials say they recouped the $115,000 just a few weeks after they announced that Palin was coming to kick off the grand opening of their new Golden Eagle Arena. At this point, they've sold $180,000 to $185,000 in tickets, with more than 1,000 seats still available. All the profits from the event will go to support scholarships, programs and facilities at WHCL.
"Basically, the state is upside down economically, and we need to do everything we can to raise funds," said Don Warkentin, WHCL president.
The speaker's fee came from the West Hills College Community Foundation and didn't involve taxpayer money, Squire said.

The Whittier Daily News reports that teens from across the Southwest made their way to Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Arcadia, California Saturday to hear Bristol Palin speak about the dangers facing today's youth:
The speech was part of Lovefest, an annual two-day church event that focuses on teens and values. The event held in a church tent familiar to the revival circuit, where youngsters listened to Palin's speech.- JP
From there, the children broke into smaller classes to focus on a array of teen issues - from dating to safely navigating the Internet.
Palin was brought in to serve as a role model and to talk candidly about her experience as a teenage mom. Children came from across Southern California and from as far away as Nevada, church officials said.
"She came right out and said, `I've been criticized and called an hypocrite because I was taking a stance on abstinence and I said I don't want you to go through this,"' said Dave Sweeney, co-founder of the Love Fest. "She implored young people to not to listen to those who say abstinence is not a big deal."
[...]
"We didn't want this to turn into a political event," said Roger Sonnenberg, pastor of Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
But there was no denying the effect of Palin's star power on the children.
"I liked her story and the way she presented her opinion without forcing her ideas on us," said Haley Gould, 17, of Glendora.

Tickets are scheduled to on sale sometime next week and will start at $25.There will also be a post-speech dinner with Gov. Palin, with ticket prices of $5000 per table.
Palin was just in the Valley last October, when she spoke at the Bakersfield Business Conference. There, she shared the stage with potential competition for the Republican presidential nomination, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
This time, she will be the featured speaker -- the second in the college's speaker's series. The first was Karl Rove, longtime confidant of former President George W. Bush and his former White House adviser.
College officials have not been actively publicizing the event -- yet -- but word has still leaked out to some in the community. And so far, Squire said, "we are getting really good response to Palin. She's a rock star."

Andrew Malcolm: Palin pleads, don't tell Obama what comes after a trillion

Here are a few excerpts from Andrew Malcolm's take on Gov. Palin's electrifying speech in Anaheim this weekend:

Here are a few excerpts from Andrew Malcolm's take on Gov. Palin's electrifying speech in Anaheim this weekend:
Sarah Palin, that reputed Republican rebel who's supposed to be at odds with the national party, swung through California this past weekend to rouse Republicans at a Republican National Committee rally in Anaheim. In our opinion, it was one of her best performances as an orator. Not quite on a par with her RNC acceptance speech, but surely one of her top five speeches.
[...]
Palin seemed to be enjoying herself too in Anaheim, as part of a national RNC campaign tour that wraps up next Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Marriott World Center in Orlando, including an unusual chance to meet Palin for a photo.
The crowd packed into the Anaheim ballroom began chanting Sarah's name Saturday while the band was still playing "Journey" songs.
[...]
(A growing number of news reports indicate many Democrats already believe they have lost control of the House, will suffer badly in the Senate and in control of governor's offices. A new Associated Press/Knowsledge Network Poll released early today shows many 2008 Obama supporters are disspirited and peeling away from him in dismay over a lack of promised change.)
As Steele moved toward introducing the day's special you-know-who guest from Alaska, the roar of the crowd grew along with the cellphone camera flashes.

Sarah Palin: 'The Chamber of Commerce isn't a threat'

Sarah Palin today sharply criticized the White House for its attacks on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce over its funding of political ads which target Democrats. President Obama and Vice President Biden have both claimed this week that the U.S. Chamber has taken foreign campaign donations, but neither the president not the vice president have offered any evidence to support their allegations:
Headlining a speakers forum sponsored by the Sacramento Metro Chamber, the former vice-presidential nominee, current Fox News commentator and firebrand for conservative candidates charged the White House with portraying private business interests as a threat to America.Governor Palin also said that voters need to elect "business-minded candidates who will not sell out their principles for the sake of bipartisanship":
"If you believe in commerce and you're called a chamber," she told the Sacramento gathering, "maybe that's enough to get you on the White House enemy watch list."
She added: "Did you ever think our White House would go to war with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce? The Chamber of Commerce isn't a threat...Who are they going to go after next? The Boy Scouts? The Girl Scouts?...The way the White House talks, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is an international terrorist."
[...]
Palin attacked the Obama administration and Democrats in Congress as anti-private enterprise.
"Our administration in Washington is at war with respect to private business," she said. "Those who believe in the free market...are targeted by some in the administration who believe the government can create prosperity."
She said the midterm elections are about "the little guy, the common man," who has been forgotten or ignored by the current administration in Washington. She predicted a wave of change at the state and federal levels after angry voters fight back on Nov. 2.The Associated Press reported that the crowd at the chamber forum numbered about 2,000.
The former vice presidential candidate also praised the tea party movement for "forcing both sides of the aisle to rethink the way they're doing business."

Sarah Palin rallies the conservative faithful in liberal bastion of San Jose

Sarah Palin ventured into liberal territory Thursday, rallying an estimated crowd of 1800 at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts. Her message: Fire the Democrats on Capitol Hill and replace them with candidates who embrace the conservative values of lower taxes, less spending and smaller government. here is an excerpt from the story written by biased reporter Karl Kahler for the left wing Mercury News:
"Are you ready to take it back," she asked, "and put government back on the side of the little guy and have government work for you instead of you having to work for government?"There was a question and answer period after the address, and then a VIP reception was held at the Marriott Hotel. There, fans willing to donate $500 to the foundation were able to meet the first woman to be the Republican Party's vice presidential candidate and have their pictures taken with her. That was followed, reports the Mercury, by a dinner for those who contributed $350 to LFF.
[...]
Palin parodied "Saturday Night Live" by saying, "Nov. 2 is right around the corner. I can see it from my house!"
The public forum was sponsored by the conservative Liberty & Freedom Foundation, whose executive director, Victor Cocchia, asked: "What better place to come to educate people as to the conservative message than the Bay Area, where conservatives are marginalized and not heard very often? "
Instead of hecklers, people in the crowd shouted in agreement. When one man hollered, "Throw the bums out!" Palin replied,
"Amen, brother. You betcha."
Palin attacked "Obamacare," President Barack Obama's landmark heath reform package, as "the mother of all unfunded mandates," and she assailed the 2009 stimulus bill and all the "shovel-ready projects" it was supposed to fund.
"Now we know what they were shoveling, and it wasn't asphalt," she quipped.
Palin ridiculed the leadership of Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, saying they're like "permanent residents of a unicorn ranch in Fantasy Land."
In a speech tailored to California interests, Palin also lambasted the cutoff of water to millions of state residents because of "a two-inch fish," the endangered Delta smelt.
"Where I come from," she said, "we call that bait."

Breitbart: Join Me and Sarah Palin at the rally in Anaheim Saturday
*
From Andrew Breitbart at Big Government:
Palin FACT SHEET - CA 9.29.10-1 - - JP
From Andrew Breitbart at Big Government:
This weekend I have the honor of sharing the stage with one of the Tea Party’s and Republican Party’s fearless leaders, Sarah Palin. Since her arrival on the national stage, the Democratic Party has recognized her potential as a political powerhouse and has worked in tandem with its partners in crime, the mainstream media, to wage an unprecedented personal campaign against her and her family. The Tea Party can relate.
But the power of Alinsky and the politics of personal destruction vis a vis the Democrat Media Complex has reverse effects when the object of the hate bravely stands up to the bullies and thugs. The Tea Party and Sarah Palin have given America a great lesson in standing up to the bullies who have co-opted the Democratic Party and the American media.
As we head into the home stretch, Sarah Palin will be in California to draw attention to a state in economic shambles. After a generation of nanny-state and Ponzi scheme policies, Californians and Americans want a radical change. This is the Republican Party’s chance to win back one of the bluest states, and what better way to usher in that change than with a dynamic female leader like Sarah Palin cheering on fellow free market, limited government feminist success stories Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina.
“American Heart” singer/songwriter Jon David, other California GOP candidates and I will join Palin on stage to cheer on a new era of hope and change in the pursuit of helping California avert economic disaster.
I invite all of our readers to come down to have a rollicking and patriotic time. I’ll be hanging out to meet and greet one and all well after the bunting has been taken down.

Gov. Palin gave a shout out to Combat Veterans For Congress on Facebook Sunday:
Combat Veterans For Congress- JP
Had a wonderful day in the Golden State, starting with a great gathering of patriots in Bakersfield and ending with a gathering of America’s finest in San Diego at an event for Combat Veterans For Congress. There are 24 Combat Veterans For Congress candidates running in 18 states this year. You can visit the organization’s website here to learn more about them. These candidates embody the integrity and courage we need in our leadership in D.C. They’ve already taken the oath to support and defend our Constitution, and there is no statute of limitations on that oath. It was a great honor to meet so many of them last night and to offer my thanks in person for their willingness to once again answer our country’s call to service.

According to KFMB-TV, when Sarah Palin took the stage at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina at a combat veterans fundraiser just after 8 p.m. local time Saturday night, there was extra security present because of a reported death threat against her.
The San Diego Union Tribune reported on its Sign On San Diego website that a large crowd of supporters and journalists gathered in a ballroom to hear her introduce fellow Alaskan and candidate for the U.S. Senate Joe Miller:
Palin, standing in front of a row of American flags on stage, took shots at what she called the "lamestream media," saying, that when the media "just doesn't get it and when they don't believe what perhaps your message is so they want to belittle you and mock you and treat you with much disdain, you know, I think, well they can do that to me, that's fine, because I know truth."Combat Veterans for Congress Chairman Joseph John said at a news conference that his PAC was "very concerned about about her security." Before the threat was reportedly made, the hotel had already arranged security for the event, according to Sheraton manager Warren Nocon.
She went on, "You know what, you can say whatever you want to say about me but I raised a combat vet and you can't take that away from me."
The event was organized by the political action committee Combat Veterans for Congress. Tickets cost $300 and up per person, and about 500 people were expected to attend the event, titled "Patriotic Gala." Among the local congressional candidates attending were Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Alpine, and Republican congressional candidates Nick Popaditch, who is running in the 51st District, and Michael Crimmins, who is running in the 53rd district.
Organizers said they were told Palin did not want to overshadow Miller at the event, but it was clear many were there to see her. A threat against her life before the event caused organizers to increase their focus on security.

'The next president of the United States' rocks Bakersfield crowd of 11,000

Although Laura Bush, Dick and Liz Cheney, Karl Rove, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rudolph Giuliani, surprise guest hero airline pilot Chesley Sullenberger and others also addressed Saturday's Bakersfield Business Conference, The Bakersfield Californian reported that, "In terms of sheer passion and vigor, nobody got a bigger reception than Palin...":

Although Laura Bush, Dick and Liz Cheney, Karl Rove, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rudolph Giuliani, surprise guest hero airline pilot Chesley Sullenberger and others also addressed Saturday's Bakersfield Business Conference, The Bakersfield Californian reported that, "In terms of sheer passion and vigor, nobody got a bigger reception than Palin...":
She was introduced by conference organizer George Martin as "the next president of the United States." The crowd burst into applause, waving flags, giving standing ovations and snapping flash photos throughout her speech.More coverage by The Californian is here.
The Tea Party movement leader condemned President Barack Obama's plans and stimulus packages, which she said have failed to bring Americans jobs. It is time now, she said, to stick up for the "little guy."
"This is what the Tea Party is all about. Fighting for the working man," Palin said, wearing her signature red suit and rimless glasses. "The little man has been forgotten far too long. Enough is enough, and we're taking it back."
The overarching theme of the day, reflected by speakers and event-goers alike, was that the nation is in economic and cultural crisis and a radical course correction is needed right away, starting with the Nov. 2 election.
And if the country's sentiment in November is that of the more than 11,000 believed to have turned out for the conference at Cal State Bakersfield, Democrats are in real trouble.
"Are we better off than we were before President Obama?" Palin roared.
"NO!" the crowd screamed back.
Reporting by NBC News focused on Gov. Palin's status as a potential 2012 presidential candidate:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, in a speech that sounded a lot like a 2012 trial balloon, or at least an effort to drum up speculation on the subject and boost her brand within the Republican party, told a Bakersfield, Calif., conference Saturday to consider the next two elections together.- JP
"We cannot undo the damage done by the Obama agenda until we replace Obama himself," Palin said. "These two elections, 2010 and 2012, go hand-in-hand. ... The theme of 2010 has got to be rebuke their errors, reject, repeal; and then the theme of 2012 — it's renew, revive and restore."
Palin, 46, appeared at the Bakersfield Business Conference before a sold-out crowd of about 10,000. Full-day tickets for the conference were $495 each.
Palin told the crowd: "Folks, in 2012," the message should be "renew our optimistic, pioneering spirit, revive our free market system and restore constitutional limits and our standing in the world, as that abiding beacon of freedom. ... Not transformation but restoration with a 'Great Awakening' that we already feel emerging across America. We will win this year, we will win this year. And I believe we will win in 2012."
Palin has used versions of the "renew, revive, restore" line previously. Palin's 2012 mention came after a speech directed to the "little guy," an interesting choice for the crowd at the Bakersfield Business Conference.
She also took a few digs at the "cocktail party" — what she called the "go-along-to-get-along" "establishment" wing of the Republican party, saying "those defeated liberal Republicans, what did they do? Now they're the ones running as a third-party candidate — and they're redefining, I guess, the term 'bitter clinger.'"
