Look for 3rd expansion of markets for 'The Undefeated' at end of month

Film will open in Palm Desert, CA July 29

According to The Desert Sun, The Undefeated will debut in California's Coachella Valley Friday, July 29:
Film distributors on Monday notified Cinemas Palme d'Or that they'd open “The Undefeated” this coming weekend — only to decide hours later that the local premiere would be pushed back a week.

The local debut will now be held during the July 29 weekend in Palm Desert, a Republican- dominated city that counts Palin's own in-laws as part-time residents.

“We were anxious for the opportunity to play something completely different than what we usually do,” Cinémas Palme d'Or co-owner Brian Tabor said.

“I don't think there's as many opportunities for a product that perhaps reaches a more Republican or conservative base. Documentary filmmakers tend to go with more of a liberal stance with the subjects they cover.”

Apparently, the Palm Desert opening will be part of the third market expansion for "The Undefeated" in as many weeks, a strategy which seems to be right in line with director Stephen Bannon's intentions for his documentary:
“Our objective is very simple⎯ to bring this film to every market and every corner of the country; starting with a limited theatrical release and then through an aggressive broader distribution strategy including streaming video, on-demand access and DVD.”
The Coachella Valley is the agricultural and recreational desert valley of Southern California, with a population of 600,000. Its four largest cities are Indio, Palm Springs, Cathedral City and Palm Desert.
