NY Sun Editorial: Palin v. Bernanke

She is now out in front of yet another issue
*
The Sun's editors say that Gov. Palin's warning to the Fed chairman puts her out front on the debate over the dollar:
One of the questions in respect of 2012 is how it has happened that the only major Republican figure, aside from Congressman Ron Paul, to stand up and be counted on the dollar is Sarah Palin. She is supposed to be an ex-beauty queen without a lot of sophistication. Yet she is reportedly scheduled to be in Phoenix today delivering a major address challenging the plan of the chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke, to inflate the dollar. Snippets of her text were put up Sunday on the National Review Online and began immediately rocketing around the globe, no doubt in part because of the Palinesque phrasing, in which she called on Mr. Bernanke to “cease and desist.”

Now we don’t mind saying that the Sun has been looking forward to the Alaskan breaking out on this issue. In October 2009, we issued an editorial called “Palin and Paul.” We noted that those waiting for a politician to pick up on the monetary issue were perking up to a posting on Mrs. Palin’s Facebook page. In it she had noted that the Gulf oil states were reported to be negotiating with Russia about abandoning the dollar as a unit of pricing, observed that an official of the United Nations had called for a new world reserve currency, and, most importantly, warned that the value of the dollar was collapsing in terms of gold. Her posting, we wrote, suggested that she was ahead of the rest of the undeclared contenders for 2012.

At the time, the value of a dollar had slid to just less than a 1,000th of an ounce of gold. Today it has plunged to barely better than a 1,400th of an ounce of gold. In other words, in the year since Mrs. Palin took up this issue, the Bernanke Dollar — or the Obama Dollar, or the Pelosi, as we’ve sometimes called it — has lost a third of its value. The chairman of the Federal Reserve is now on an announced plan to try to inflate it further. So far the Congress that has oversight of the Federal Reserve has been largely mute, though there have been some notable exceptions (Congressman Paul Ryan, for example, and Dr. Ron Paul, of course; among the big newspapers, only the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal has been in front of this issue).

We were struck, reading the Robert Costa’s National Review advance on Mrs. Palin’s speech, with the reach of her warning. She attacked QE2, as the second quantitative easing of monetary policy is called, head on.

The editors conclude, "she is now out in front of yet another issue as there is about to convene a new Congress of the United States in which she has a brace of allies indebted to her for her help in getting elected. Mr. Bernanke seems to have blithely ignored his other critics, but it will be more dangerous to ignore the Mamma Grizzly."

Quote of the Day (November 7, 2010)

*
The Sage of Mount Airy:
"I suspect Ronald Reagan, were he still with us, would not only wrap his arms around Sarah Palin, he would also proudly point to her as an American success story, an example of what anyone, man or woman, can do in this great country. He would then wink and remind us that, even better, she was a solid conservative Republican to boot. But not so Peggy Noonan. As much as she rushes to defend and celebrate her hero Ronald Reagan, I'm afraid she did not learn all that much from his example. What does she do to Sarah Palin, who, as far as I know, has never done anything to her? She mocks her. She looks for opportunities to mock her. She invents opportunities to mock her. Why? I don't know fully, but I'm beginning to think we'll need to resurrect Dr. Freud in order to answer that one."

Gov. Palin to challenge Fed monetary policy in Monday speech

*
NRO's Robert Costa reports that Monday in Phoenix, Sarah Palin will criticize Federal Reserve monetary policy and challenge chairman Ben Bernanke to stop printing money. The Fed, she says, is flirting with inflation. NRO has obtained some excerpts from the governor’s prepared remarks, a few of which we present here (Read the rest at NRO's The Corner blog):
I’m deeply concerned about the Federal Reserve’s plans to buy up anywhere from $600 billion to as much as $1 trillion of government securities.

[...]

Where will all this money printing on an unprecedented scale take us? Do we have any guarantees that QE2 won’t be followed by QE3, 4, and 5, until eventually – inevitably – no one will want to buy our debt anymore? What happens if the Fed becomes not just the buyer of last resort, but the buyer of only resort?

All this pump priming will come at a serious price. And I mean that literally: everyone who ever goes out shopping for groceries knows that prices have risen significantly over the past year or so. Pump priming would push them even higher. And it’s not just groceries. Oil recently hit a six month high, at more than $87 a barrel. The weak dollar – a direct result of the Fed’s decision to dump more dollars onto the market – is pushing oil prices upwards. That’s like an extra tax on earnings. And the worst part of it: because the Obama White House refuses to open up our offshore and onshore oil reserves for exploration, most of that money will go directly to foreign regimes who don’t have America’s best interests at heart.

We shouldn’t be playing around with inflation. It’s not for nothing Reagan called it “as violent as a mugger, as frightening as an armed robber, and as deadly as a hit man.”

Paul West: Will Sarah Palin back Michael Steele for another term at RNC?

*
Some RNC members expect Gov. Palin to support Michael Steele for a second term as chairman of the Republican Party, according to the Baltimore Sun's Paul West:
The duo appeared together on Steele's recent coast-to-coast "Fire Pelosi" bus tour. And Steele came to Palin's defense on national television this week, telling critics of the former Alaska governor to "shut up."

Palin's endorsement would be a valuable asset in the coming chairmanship fight and could help counter those who say Steele is the wrong person to head the party going into the 2012 presidential cycle.

Steele has not publicly announced his candidacy, but he's campaigning hard for another two-year term. According to RNC insiders, he's already lined up half the votes he needs.

[...]

RNC spokesman Doug Heye has been quoted as saying that Steele and Palin have a "great working relationship." If she runs for president, could it hurt to have the top guy at national party headquarters watching out for her interests?

Joe McGinness: Hey, can't a stalker get a little privacy here?

*
Aw, poor Joe McGinniss can't even take a little taste of his own medicine. Doug Powers explains:

Remember Joe McGinniss, Todd and Sarah Palin’s creepy stalker neighbor guy who moved in next door until the end of summer, in order to finish a book he was writing about the Palins?

It seems that McGinniss is distraught at his inclusion in the show “Sarah Palin’s Alaska.”

From Dave Weigel at Slate:

McGinniss’s attorney Dennis Holahan has requested that McGinniss’s image be removed from the show as “he was not aware that any camera crew was in fact videotaping him,” and the description of him in the show was “defamatory.” (McGinniss has repeatedly objected to Palin’s assertion that he could, or even wanted to, spy on her kids from the house — an assertion she made again in the show.)

I understand McGinniss’s objection to being defamed… because if I was working on a book about somebody’s family and I moved in next door to them while I completed the book, I’d expect nothing short of complete acceptance and high praise.

Ted Belman: Would President Palin Shake Up the 'Peace Process'?

*
If Sarah Palin becomes President of the United States in 2012, Ted Belman opines that she may end the impasse in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process by introducing a paradigm shift:
To date she has not retracted her support for a "two- state solution," which in any event is not a two-state solution that the Palestinians would accept. She told Barbara Walters, "I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expanded upon, because that population of Israel is, is going to grow. ...And I don't think that the Obama administration has any right to tell Israel that the Jewish settlements cannot expand."

In the VP debate, she said she would move the US embassy to Jerusalem.

She told AIPAC, "Let there be no doubt: I will always keep the threat of military action on the table to defend our security and our ally Israel."

In a similarly firm tone, she told Charles Gibson, that she would not "second-guess" Israeli military action against Iran.

While many politicians kiss up to the American Jews during elections, Sarah Palin has always exhibited affection and support for the Jewish people and Israel. Her views are supported by 50 million Evangelical Christians who support an undivided Jerusalem and Jewish claims to Judea and Samaria. The latest polls indicate 65% of Americans support Israel.

After decades of trying to reach a two state solution, America should abandon the attempt and pursue a more workable solution such as autonomy only for the Palestinians.

Noting Gov. Palin's reputation for "shaking things up," Bellman argues that she, "more than anyone else, is likely to usher in the required paradigm shift."

Doug Giles: Why Palin Petrifies Progressives

*
Doug Giles presents his Top Ten reasons why Sarah Palin turns the heads of "progressive womyn" into Claymore mines:
1. Palin’s hot and can rock a pair of heels, hunting boots, or any garment she dons. And you can tell she knows it and likes it. Most of the ladies on the Left, however, cannot—and we all know how jealous and petty some chicks can be when they’re aesthetically upstaged (cat fight).

2. They hate Sarah because she’s supposedly anti-intellectual. However, I’d love to see Tina Fey, Katie Couric or Joy Behag go mano a mano with her on any given topic and see who comes off looking like Snooki.

3. The feministas don’t dig SP because she’s had five kids (one of whom has Down’s Syndrome) and has never considered offing any of them in her womb.

4. She believes in the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, and they hate Christians.

5. She’s a conservative, and they hate conservatives.

6. She’s insanely successful, and she did it without curtsying to their wacked weltanschauung.

7. Her husband’s not some prissy, manicured metrosexual man-child but an ass kicking Alaskan.

8. She hunts and fishes. Her motto: Shoot it. Stuff it. Hang it on a wall, baby.

9. She’s unapologetic to all of the above.

10. And finally, they know that if she ever makes it to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue that she’s going to hand the Dems their shriveled BB-sized cojones on a free market platter while the majority of the USA gives her a standing ovation.

Quote of the Day (November 6, 2010)

*
Jeannie DeAngelis at American Thinker:
"Usually when one person calls another person 'stupid,' it's because the name-caller views himself or herself as more intelligent than the callee. Evidently, the way Cher throws around the word 'stupid,' the high school dropout clearly considers diva brainpower superior... Evidently, Cher not only feels qualified to identify the intellectually challenged, but the woman in the 'towering 2-foot headpiece made of rooster feathers' also believes she has the adroit ability to spot gifted brilliance in random people. The self-professed politically neutral performer labeled Bush, Palin, and Brewer as 'dumb' and 'stupid,' but recognized President Barack Obama's 'intelligence' and 'spirit' as 'so great' that she predicted America's first black president would be able to do 'more than anyone could possibly do,' whatever that means. Based on Obama's presidential performance thus far, Cher should avoid both punditry and prophecy."

Attack of the Bushies

*
Sarah Palin has weathered attacks by "Bush's Brain." Now "Bush's Mouth" has gone after her too. After being attacked by Karl Rove, now Gov. Palin is under fire from Dubya's former speechwriter Michael Gerson. Using the Washington Post, a vehicle which has already accumulated "Cash for Clunkers" mileage running down the 2008 vice presidential candidate, Vichy Republican Gerson takes the old jalopy out for another sputtering spin. Doug Brady at Conservatives for Palin pegs the hit piece as "a disjointed mix of establishment talking points, untruths, and a rather obvious contradiction which eludes the author utterly":
So, as with other spectator Republicans who had absolutely nothing to do with Tuesday's election result, Gersen wants to assign "blame" to Governor Palin for Tuesday's historic Republican sweep. In Gersen's mind, apparently, it's Governor Palin's fault that the enormous victory wasn't bigger than it was.

[...]

The ruling class in both parties... see Governor Palin and the entire Tea Party movement as an existential threat to their way of doing business. That they should, because their party is coming to an end, and the political earthquake which took place on Tuesday is just the beginning.
Read Doug's full post. He does a fine job of debunking Gerson's bulls... er, bunk.

It's not just the younger Bush's minions, but the former president himself who is dissing Gov. Palin, if a report in the left wing NY Daily News is to be believed. Citing an anonymous GOP source (What other kind is there for the Palin-hostile lamestream media?), the story alleges that George W. thought John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate "makes Bush think less of McCain as a man."

We won't believe this until we hear Bush say it himself for three reasons. First, given that the bad blood between them never got much of a chance to cool, it's difficult to imagine Bush being able to think any less of McCain than he already did before Gov. Palin was named to the ticket. Second, consider the source. Oh, wait. You can't, because it doesn't have a name. Third, because said source remains anonymous, it could very well be Rove, Gerson or some other good old boy from the former administration just making it up.

But what if the story is true, and what the Daily News spews is really GWB's thinking? In the opinion of

Poll: Gov. Palin has highest favorability with likely '12 GOP voters

*
Sarah Palin is rated highest in favorability among likely Republican voters for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination:
A Rasmussen Reports poll showed Palin with an 82 percent favorability rating, compared to 17 percent who view her unfavorably. Fifty percent of likely voters in the 2012 primary elections for the presidential nomination had a very favorable opinion of the former governor, while eight percent claimed they have a very unfavorable opinion of her.

Former Govs. Mitt Romney (R-Mass.) and Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.) trailed Palin with a favorability of 79 percent apiece. Seventeen percent hold unfavorable opinions of the two.

[...]

The three top contenders for the Republican nomination to challenge Obama in 2012 remain tied when likely primary voters were asked which candidate they would vote for if the primaries were held today.
Rasmussen surveyed 1,000 likely GOP primary voters with a margin of sampling error of plus-or-minus three percentage points.

"Politically Uncorrect" Edition
*

Rush Limbaugh:
"What's going on here, folks, is very simple. They want to establish a lie very firmly in the minds of the public that the tea party hurt the Republican Party in these elections. They want to use this to stop Sarah Palin. Republican insiders are trying to figure out now how to stop Sarah Palin... If anybody is an obvious winner here... it would be Palin. Look at the grief and the mockery that she got for putting what the media claimed were targets on 20 Democrat incumbents on her website. Look at the grief that she's got ever since she was named McCain's running mate. Eighteen of those Democrats she targeted lost. That's a pretty amazing and impressive record. Sarah Palin targeted a bunch of Democrats for defeat, and 18 of them lost. That's more than any Republican elites are doing."
The New Agenda:
"So we encouraged the most powerful women in the Republican Party to fight for our votes... Palin did, officially launching her 'Mama Grizzlies!' Palin outdid our expectation, endorsing women all over the country."
Merv Benson at Prairie Pundit:
"It says something about the conceit of both Richard Cohen and Katie Couric that they both thought the question about what newspapers Palin read was some important insight into her intellect. Palin, on the other hand, thought it was a silly question and later admitted to reading several papers that would have probably satisfied most listeners other than Cohen who she probably does not read. But his comments also convey another conceit of liberalism, i.e., that those who disagree with them are not smart. Even conservatives who don't support Palin have to concede that she is generally right on the issues that most conservatives support. That makes her pretty smart in my book and it is one reason why I would support her if she decides to run."
Senator-elect Kelly Ayotte:
"Conservatives in New Hampshire and across the country view Gov. Palin as a leader in the movement to make government smaller and more accountable. Her support made a significant impact in my campaign, and I was honored to have it."
AWR Hawkins at Big Hollywood:
"Cher is on record saying of Palin: 'A dumb woman is a dumb woman.' Maybe she wishes she hadn’t said this after watching the November 2nd election results? In those elections the 'dumb' woman and her Tea Party candidates made the 'smart' liberals in DC and Hollywood look pretty stupid... Cher seems to be quite angry. And the more she talks, the more evident it is that she’s fast approaching the outright lunacy we’ve seen in people like Janeane Garofalo: people who let their anger consume them and rule their lives."
Da Techguy:
"It’s been the first day I’ve had a chance to watch 'Morning Joe' since Monday... and their advice is compromise, compromise, compromise for the GOP. The exact opposite of Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin and the people who got them elected."
Jim Putnam at The Coltons Point Times:
"Almost every day of the week the bastions of the liberal media, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time and Newsweek Magazine, MSNBC, even the Huffington blog run feature stories about Sarah Palin. If they dislike her so much, why? Because Palin draws reader interest more than any other politician in America. Palin is plastered in the liberal media to sell the liberal media, pure and simple."
Life in 3D:
"Sarah Palin’s been a favorite of mine since I first read about her and then saw her on the campaign trail. Now though, she has just jumped up to the next level with her choice in shotguns."
Bob Lester of KWHL's Bob and Mark show:
"It's no surprise to me that my good friend Sarah Palin would use our show to make such an important announcement [to run for president]. This is another example of Sarah Palin remembering where she comes from. She is Alaska. She isn't enamored with all the big lights and movie stars like so many think she is. She is a hometown girl who has her boots firmly planted on Alaska soil. "That's just her style. She is moose stew and 'bunny' boots much more than she is caviar and glass slippers."
Gay Patriot:
"Palin Perfectly Alliterates People Power at Play in 2010 Elections... She gets it..."
Andrew Breitbart at Big Journalism:
"The left is afraid of the election of Marco Rubio as Senator [from] Florida in the exact same way as they were afraid of Sarah Palin when she was chosen as the Vice Presidential nominee by John McCain. It has been clear from the beginning that both are ascendant as potential game-changing political stars and need to be destroyed... You thought that the left was scared on Nov. 1, 2010, now imagine an America with a successful Marco Rubio and his beautiful family in the White House."
Mr. Guthrie at Redemptive Thoughts:
"At this point, the only viable candidate for the conservative voters who gave the Republicans control of the House of Representatives is Palin... She is the only one I could trust to govern conservatively..."
James Burdett:
"I have long thought that Sarah Palin is a cannier operator than her detractors give her credit for. It remains to be seen whether she will pitch for the Republican nomination for 2012 but I think it is highly likely. I also think that she is a better candidate than her Democrat opponents and European detractors reckon on... Sarah Palin, if she goes for the GOP nomination, is going to pick up quite a lot of support... I do know... that she isn’t the clueless hick that she is painted. I suspect if she wants the nomination she has the political nouse to do what is necessary to get it. The fact that she whacked out the ['Together'] video after the midterms suggests to me she wants it."
Jonathan Strong at The Daily Caller:
"Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Thursday she objected to a photo of Rep. Michelle Bachmann in the publication Politico by suggesting its use was sexist... Politico changed out the photo for another of Bachmann later in the morning."
Spartacus Pundit:
"In an ironic twist of karma, the sleazy, bought-and-paid-for 'seniors' group that threw America under the bus to peddle bogus partisan propaganda for ObamaCare, AARP, has now been forced to announce that it must significantly raise costs for its employees...admittedly, due to ObamaCare... I guess Tea Partiers and Sarah Palin really weren't just a bunch of ignorant fear-mongers posturing for insurance companies. Go figure. Everything liberals told us was a flat-out lie."

Freedom Fighter at Joshuapundit:
"This 'nincompoop' as Noonan referred to her is directly responsible for GOP gains in this election, along with Jim DeMint. It was Palin in particular who kept the Tea Party movement within the Republican Party when she could have taken them third party for her own aggrandizement, and without the Tea Party things would be very different for the GOP today. Governor Palin had the ninja political skills to go from being the defeated VP candidate in one of the most inept campaigns in recent memory to the hottest political ticket in America... and she did it on her own, outside the GOP establishment. I and many others haven't forgotten how Peggy Noonan shilled for Obama during the '08 election and told us how wonderful he was going to be. Palin, on the other hand, had his number from Day One. Jim DeMint: Joe Miller Needs Our Help

*
Via the Senate Conservatives Fund website:
Dear Fellow Conservative:

Joe Miller, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Alaska, needs our help. He's in the race of his life against Senator Lisa Murkowski who ran as a independent write-in candidate after losing the Republican primary.

With the race still too close to call, there are still tens of thousands of ballots that haven't been counted and there will be a recount to verify the integrity of the write-in ballots.

Joe Miller can win this race but he's up against a well-financed legal team that is working for Lisa Murkowski. They will be fighting to bend the law in Alaska, which requires write-in ballots to accurately state the candidate's name.

Joe Miller needs our immediate help.

The costs associated with maintaining the integrity of this election could be very high, especially if the legal battles go on for a while. Joe does not have the support of the special interests in Washington and he cannot rely on national Republicans to do everything that's needed to defend him.

Joe Miller needs the help of freedom-loving Americans who recognize the importance of winning this race. Joe Miller will stand up to the big spenders in both political parties and help stop the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that threaten our future.

Please make a contribution to the Joe Miller Recount Fund today.

This is a separate committee that has separate contribution limits. Individuals may contribute up to $2,400 to the Joe Miller Recount Fund even if they made contributions to his campaign before November 2nd.

Thank you for everything you have done to support the principles of freedom. Thank you in advance for supporting Joe Miller in this critical battle.

Sincerely,

"Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, embracing former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s ability to galvanize voters, urged the Republican Party establishment to 'chill out.' 'You know, in the words of Bill Clinton, I feel her pain, you know?' Steele said in an interview on 'Political Capital with Al Hunt' airing this weekend on Bloomberg Television. 'My goal -- and I know Sarah’s goal has been -- let’s take the party and put it on the streets.'"

But no worries, the unimpeachable left-wing blogosphere will bring you up to speed on all the relevant facts. Er, 'facts'... Add 'pink underwear' to the moonbat mixer, blend until frothy, and BAM!: the sheriff has a creepy panty fetish. Hey, lefties: learn to Read the Freakin’ Google (and not just when it suits your political goals). The oh-so risqué pink undergarments Arpaio hands out as souvenirs are the same ones he’s famous for selling via his charity Web site, PinkUnderwear.com, and they look an awful lot like novelty boxers... But it’s the Tea Party Movement that contains a 'disturbing psychosexual undercurrent'? Oh, if only Tea Party women could be as enlightened as Jesse Taylor and his fellow bloggers on the Left. "I sense a new era dawning where the most powerful seats in the world will be held by women, in a greater majority, than ever before. At the forefront of this newest wave are two women from polar extremes, Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton. Palin possesses a disarming leadership quality which is incredibly effective. It is easy for people to underestimate her, and usually they do so at their peril. She appeals to men, both the Neanderthal types as well as the more refined family man types as well. She appeals to some women, but not so much to the Hillary types..."
Rudy Giuliani on CNN:
"My guess is yes – she's going to run for president. She sounds to me like somebody who's running for president."
Freedom Fighter at Joshuapundit:
"By keeping the Tea Party activists in the GOP instead of creating a third party, Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint and few others have given the Republicans a new lease on life and an opportunity to prove that they can be trusted to govern responsibly, restore fiscal sanity and move the country back on track to the ideas of the Founders. If they pass that test, 2012 will see the Republicans on track to win the presidency and cement even bigger majorities in place. If they do not, the American people will simply abandon them...not just for an election cycle or two but forever."
Jennifer at Cubachi:
"According to the New York Post, Sarah and Todd Palin were in New Jersey to check out the New York Jets playing in Giants Stadium as guests of owner Woody Johnson last Sunday. But guess who was watching the game with them? Governor Chris Christie! If this is true, I wonder what these three talked about…"
Shannon Bell at Right Pundits:
"You just have to love this narrative being put forth by the left and the Republican establishment that somehow the Republicans failed on Tuesday night. Even better is the flawed narrative that the tea party is to blame. Mort Kondracke, a joke himself, called Sarah Palin a joke in a conference call and said that she and Jim DeMint were to blame for Republican failure to capture the Senate... Kondracke’s premise (as well as [that of] establishment Republicans) is deeply flawed. Republicans took 63 House seats and 6 Senate seats on Tuesday. The numbers could rise depending on the outcome of several undecided elections. A pretty resounding win in my humble opinion, and I submit that the numbers would not have been as large as they were had it not been for the likes of Sarah Palin (the Joke) or Jim DeMint. Even deeper than that, Republicans captured 680 legislative seats on the State level (a surer sign of the Tea Party influence), absolutely remarkable..."
John Podhoretz at Commentary Magazine:
"Sarah Palin in National Review... This political formulation is — I use the word advisedly — brilliant."
Carl Lindquist at The Great Awakening:
"Now that they have used her to their political benefit, the tables haved turned and the Republican Establishment is beginning to try and force Sarah Palin out of her position of power within the Republican Party... Palin definitely scares the bejeebers out of the Republican 'good-old boys', as she calls them. And for good reason. She represents a political force within the party that is calling for real change... And the Republican Establishment really doesn't want change (small government, for example). Indeed, it is now reverting back to its normative ruling posture, as seen during the eight years of the younger Bush, i.e. talking the talk, but not walking the walk, of small-government conservatism."
Dr Matthew Ashton:
"While Goldwater lost by a landslide, one of his biggest supporters, Ronald Reagan, went on to win the Presidency in 1980 in one of the biggest victories in US political history. Reagan was seen as similarly extreme until he won and managed to shift the whole centre ground of American politics. Maybe Palin can do the same."
Rachel Wallace at AAUW Dialog:
"I’ve got three cheers for Sarah Palin’s enthusiastic and influential mentoring of women politicians, unprecedented on such a large and public scale. She inspired many women to get up and run for office. Her support for Indian-American Nikki Haley (R-SC) and Latina Susana Martinez (R-NM) helped propel the first women of color to governors’ mansions. As the Republican leadership moves into the House, it’s important that the boys’ club has a few women around, and I trust Palin and some of her friends will make sure that happens."
John Hayward at Human Events:
"Sarah Palin did the GOP a lot of favors during this election. She’ll have plenty of markers to call in, if she runs for President... Dismissing Palin as some kind of fringe, 'divisive' figure is transparently foolish. She made a difference for a bounty of good candidates, who will make a difference for America in the years ahead."
Fuzzy Slippers at Fuzzy Logic:
"[Obama]'s idea of energy independence is electric cars and cap and tax? Seriously? And he thinks that the republicans will go along with that garbage? They better not. Energy independence is using our own resources, not relying so heavily on foreign oil. But what does he do? He sends billions to Brazil so they can drill, he lets Cuba drill in the Gulf of Mexico, but he stops us from drilling. You know who he should talk to about energy independence? Sarah Palin. Everyone, including lunatic progs who nearly choke on the admission, knows that if there's one thing Sarah Palin knows inside out it's energy and America's natural resources. But he'd sooner meet with Ahmadinejad than Sarah Palin... The man's a disgrace, and nothing he said Wednesday changes that."
