Sarah Palin: Be glad you can see November from your house!

*
Posting on Facebook Thursday, Gov. Palin talked about her week's activities and asked her followers to support 17 conservative candidates in four states:
Traveling the Country Where We See a New Generation of Leaders Emerging

Had a great visit with Newsmax and the great folks in the Sunshine State yesterday! I spoke to Michael Reagan about his father’s grand legacy and to Dick Morris about not accepting what President Obama wants America to believe is some kind of “new normal” of economic woe. I spoke to concerned Floridians about the energy in the Tea Party movement, and explained that I wrote a lot about it in my book, “America by Heart”; and I had the privilege of being interviewed on Sean Hannity’s show regarding voter turnout favoring conservatives this year.

Florida is fortunate to have great candidates willing to run and serve for all the right reasons. The repeal of the mother-of-all-unfunded mandates, Obamacare, is foremost on the minds of so many concerned Floridians, along with job, jobs, jobs. Thankfully they have candidates bold enough to promise to shake things up, put “We the People” first, and support free market and results-oriented solutions to all these challenges. Please support these great Sunshine State candidates:

Rick Scott for Governor

Pam Bondi for Attorney General

Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate

Steve Southerland (FL-2)

Allen West (FL-22)

Sandy Adams (FL-24)

Today I’m in beautiful, historic, special Alabama! I speak at Faulkner University and am shouting out a big Alabama holler for some great candidates:

Beth Chapman for Secretary of State

Martha Roby (AL-2)

Tonight I’ll be calling into an event for two great candidates in Hawaii:

John Willoughby (HI-2)

Scott Henderson (State House District 7)

The Aloha State is ripe for positive, patriotic change under the leadership of these good Americans with servant’s hearts in our 50th state.

Tomorrow it’s back to Texas for a Woman of Joy conference and talking to Texans about some of their great candidates:

Rick Perry for Governor

Greg Abbott for Attorney General

Bill Flores (TX-17)

Francisco "Quico" Canseco (TX-23)

Dr. Donna Campbell (TX-25)

Blake Farenthold (TX-27)

Stephen Broden (TX-30)

Onward and upward. Be glad you can see November from your house! Real change is just around the corner, America!

- Sarah Palin
We're pleased to see the governor give Bill Flores a shout out. TX-17, where we reside, is carved out of a long corridor of central Texas which extends from the Edwards Plateau all the way down to the Brazos River Valley and includes the cities of Cleburne, Waco, Bryan and College Station. Although the 17th is a overwhelmingly Republican district, it has been represented by only Democrats since its creation in 1919.

Chet Edwards, the incumbent, has held the seat since 2005. Edwards is one of the blue dog Dems who is fighting for his political life, and he's running harder against Speaker Pelosi and President Obama than some Republicans are! But no matter how hard Chet runs from his own party, he can't hide his votes in favor of both the stimulus and financial bailout bills. They are two strikes against him. Nevertheless, he can't be underestimated. At the end of June, Chet was sitting on a $2.1 million campaign chest, while Flores had only raised $415,000. So please follow Gov. Palin's lead and support Bill Flores!

ADN: Say... maybe Sarah Palin WAS right about that 'largest island' thing

*
It's not called the lamestream media without reason. Don Surber explains how the Associated Press contradicted itself:
Oddly enough, Mike Dunham of the Anchorage Daily News fact-checked the Associated Press and found that yes, Kodiak Island is bigger than the main island of Hawaii, which AP listed at 4,028 square miles...
“I thought Daily News readers deserved something a little more authoritative. So I went to Webster’s New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition, ‘The Official Dictionary of The Associated Press.’ There on page 794, it gave the area of Kodiak Island — not the archipelago or islands, plural — as 5,363 square miles.”
Yes, that’s right. No one in the world’s largest news-gathering organization bothered to read its own dictionary.
Perhaps AP should assign 11 reporters to fact-check itself.

How paparazzi chased the Palins off of Maui

*
When the Palin family cut short its Hawaii vacation, Sarah Palin said the reason they were leaving the Pacific paradise was because of the paparazzi who were stalking her family and annoying hotel guests. In a story that was picked up by the Honolulu Advertiser, Harry Eager of The Maui News reported Saturday:
In the superheated world of political blogging, that explanation was doubted, but Mike White, general manager of the Kaanapali Beach Hotel, said it was "absolutely correct" that obnoxious photographers chased the Palin family off Maui.

Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, apologized to other guests for the antics of the photographers. White said other guests began complaining about the photographers, who created turmoil for two days on the beach.
Local paparazzo Rick Leeks backs up the hotel manager's confirmation of what Gov. Palin had said. Leeks explains that after a trio of paparazzi snapped their photos of the Palins, the photographers deliberately made themselves obnoxious in an effort to drive the Palins away.

Why would they do such a thing after they had already gotten their photos? If the three paparazzi could force the Palins to leave the island, then no other paparazzi could get photographs of the Palin family. This made their photos more exclusive, allowing them to drive up the value of the images, which they sold to celebrity gossip site TMZ. "They didn't leave her alone," he said.
White said: "I found the Palins to be just wonderful people. Our hospitality staff was totally taken by them and by the attention that Todd and Sarah paid to the kids."

He said it was other guests who complained to his staff about the paparazzi.
Note that while it was the obnoxious paparazzi who chased the Palins off of the island, Todd and Sarah apologized to the hotel staff and the other guests. We recall that when arsonists tried to burn down the church the Palins attend in Alaska, Sarah Palin apologized to the pastor and the congregation. These actions speak volumes about the character of Todd and Sarah Palin.

Pelosi's Hawaii vacation a contrast to Sarah Palin's

*
From American Thinker editor and publisher Thomas Lifson:
In stark contrast to Sarah Palin, whose Hawaii vacation was photographed and touted in the press, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is enjoying a very private luxurious time at the Four Seasons Hualalai resort on the Big Island.
One thing the Speaker can't be criticized for is her generosity with the taxpayers' dollars to the Capitiol Hill police, some members of which she took along with her to the American Playground of the Pacific to keep the riffraff (a.k.a. taxpayers) away. Nice work if you can get it...

Sarah Palin: 'So much for trying to go incognito'

*
Politico's Mike Allen reports that Sarah Palin announced Thursday night that she and her family were cutting their Hawaii vacation short after paparazzi found them on the beaches and started snapping photos:
"In an attempt to 'go incognito,' I Sharpied the logo out on my sun visor so photographers would be less likely to recognize me and bother my kids or other vacationers.

[...]

"Todd and I have since cut our vacation short because the incognito attempts didn't work and fellow vacationers were bothered for the two days we spent in the sun. So much for trying to go incognito."
Looks like from now on the Palins will have to find a private vacation spot with armed security to keep the media hounds at bay.

Aloha, Palins (Updated)

*
Sarah Palin and the family are enjoying a relaxing vacation in Hawaii after a book tour that took her to 33 cities in 25 states in less than a month. After signing tens of thousands of copies of her bestseller Going Rogue. her arm can probably use the rest.

Shallow "journalists" are trying making a big deal out of the fact that the former governor was photographed in the Aloha State wearing an old McCain for President visor which had the Arizona Senator's name blacked out. Always quick to jump to conclusions, the lib writers are claiming that Palin herself covered her former running mate's name with a marking pen, but none of them can report having actually witnessed the act of obliteration, of course. Anyone could have done it. Our guess would be that one of the kids got creative.

The media rats also have their undies in a knot over the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidates T-shirt, which read "If you don't love America," on the front, and "then why don't you get the hell out," on the back. The  T-shirt was a gift from country singer John Rich. We wonder if the America-haters could find happiness in the workers' paradise of Cuba or maybe the Islamic Republic of Iran, where women who get too uppity are routinely stoned to death. Strange, the Palin-bashing feminists don't seem to be much outraged over the treatment of their sisters in Islamofascist states. Hey, why take up the cause of women who are treated as property when they can bash Sarah Palin? Those poor women are halfway around the world -- out of sight, out of mind.

Update: We were wrong. Sarah Palin did black out McCain's name on the visor, but according to Politico's Mike Allen, Gov. Palin says it was just an (unsuccessful) attempt to blend in with other vacationers in America's tropical paradise and to keep the paparazzi away.

Other gleanings from the Politico piece:
"Palin has signed more than 59,000 books — an average of 1,750 per stop — and has traveled more than 19,000 miles by plane and bus. She has spent 115 hours — or 4.8 days — signing books in 33 cities in 25 states. Her stops have included five military bases."
