Palin-hatin' Olbermann sacked by MSPDS (Updated)

Buh-Bye Bathtub Boy
*
RedState's Caleb Howe tweets:
"At long last, sir, have you no job?"
Keith Olberman, has been abruptly fired by MSNBC, apparently during Friday night's show. More here. Just last month he dubbed Bristol Palin the "Worst Person In The World" for her role as an ambassador for abstinence with the Candies Foundation, and as recently as Tuesday misrepresented a CNN poll in a ridiculous attempt to tie Sarah Palin to the Tucson shootings.

Olby has been a frequent critic of Bristol's mom beginning just days after she was announced as John McCain's running mate more than two years ago. On September 17 of 2008, he falsely accused Gov. Palin of cutting funding for the Special Olympics by half in Alaska. He has bashed the first woman to be both governor of Alaska and the Republican Party's vice presidential candidate as a "phony" and an "idiot," and has named her "Worst Person In The World" a number of times. The hysterical host also labeled Gov. Palin and other critics of ObamaCare "subhumans," "ghouls," and "fiends." After Sarah Palin called David Letterman out for making a crude sexual "joke" about her teenage daughter Willow, Olbermann called the governor "sanctimonious, holier than thou, exploitative, undignified, pedantic, childish, self-inflicting, insipid, backwards, embarrassing, over-reactive, overreaching" as well as a "delusional lunatic." Even after all of his slandering of Sarah, the not-too-bright Bathtub Boy couldn't seem to understand why she would not be itching to appear on the network of hate, referring to her as a coward and throwing in for bad measure "idiot-woman" and "idiot." And that's only the highlight reel.

Olby probably won't be an unemployment statistic for long. We fully expect Ariana Huffington and/or Tina Brown to offer Keif a job. Or perhaps CNN will snap him up to replace the failing Parker Spitzer program in prime time. On second thought, he could get a column or a blog at the Washington Post. He would be just the ticket for "the new era of civility" there...

Update: Andrew Breitbart makes it short and tweet:

Gov. Sarah Palin accepts Letterman apology

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin issued a statement early this morning after the broadcast of CBS' "Late Show" with David Letterman program, saying that she accepted the talk show host's apology:
"Of course it's accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve," she said.

"Letterman certainly has the right to 'joke' about whatever he wants to, and thankfully we have the right to express our reaction," Palin said. "This is all thanks to our U.S. Military women and men putting their lives on the line for us to secure America's Right to Free Speech - in this case, may that right be used to promote equality and respect."

Dave caves; actually apologizes this time

New York Times media columnist Bill Carter reports:
David Letterman directly apologized to Gov. Sarah Palin and her daughters on his program Monday night, saying he took responsibility for a joke that had offended Ms. Palin, her family, and her supporters.

Mr. Letterman opened the desk portion of his show with the apology in which he said he wanted to say he was sorry to “to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke.” Two weeks ago on his “Late Show” program on CBS, he had joked about Governor Palin attending a Yankee game with her daughter.
Up against a planned Tuesday rally calling for his firing and a boycott of Letterman's sponsors by Sarah Palin supporters and others, the late night talk show host apparently decided that he had gotten himself into a war he could not win.

Embassy Suites had yanked its advertising from CBS' website, as company spokeswoman Kendra Walker explained:
"We received lots of e-mails from concerned guests and we assessed that the statement that he made was offensive enough to our guests and prospective guests that we elected to take the ads down,"
CBS suits, meanwhile, insist that they put no pressure on Letterman to apologize and that there has been no real impact on advertisers from the protests. And if you believe that, they have some slightly used Letterman jokes they would like to sell you.

More here, including a full transcript of the apology.

Update: John Ziegler says the "Fire David Letterman" rally will go on as scheduled. We think this is a hasty decision. Ziegler should wait and see what Gov. Palin says. If she is the person we think she is, the governor will accept the apology, declare victory and move on. There's nothing to be gained from taking this further. Sarah stood up to Letterman, and he backed down. We win, they lose. There's too many other important things to be accomplished to dwell on this.

More Reaction to Mama Bear vs. Creepy Dave

Our recap of reaction to Mama Bear vs. Creepy Dave left room for much more, so here is at least a little more:

I'm no Mike Huckabee fan, but must give him props for this: "The attacks that David Letterman made on the Palin family, uncalled for, uncouth, and you know what's worse? Don Imus got fired for an unscripted off-the-cuff remark. This was a scripted remark."

Gossip columnists are among the most vicious of Sarah Palin critics, and these useful idiots have been slamming her and her family unmercifully since she first set foot on the national stage. No small wonder, then, that most of these Hedda Hopper wannabes have tried to make Creepy Dave the victim and Mama Bear the evil villain for having the nerve to defend her daughters. Jeff Thomas of The Star Report is a textbook example of this ilk: "Palin is using her daughter to stir up publicity." Since you Chatty Patty types bash her every day regardless, Jeff, how could she be trying to stir up publicity? Think on that one for a while, but don't hurt yourself doing it.

Speaking of ghastly gossip columnists, whatever clown blogs for The Hollywood Gossip thought it would be a great idea to get Levi Johnson to comment on the Lecherman-Palin dustup. Poor Levi only showed his cluelessness when he said, "I don't think he meant to hurt anybody. He's a comedian. That's what he does... People are going to make jokes and there're (sic) going to talk and say whatever they want. You can't do nothing about it." The gossip blogger praised young Johnston's hopelessly naive answer, calling it "Simple, direct, rational, critical," and went on to bash Sarah Palin some more. It would have been good to see Levi man up and defend women, but, alas, a man he ain't.

Also accusing the governor of using her daughters to advance her political career was MSDNC's Keith Olbermann. In a fit of pure leftist dementia, Bathtub Boy called Gov. Palin "sanctimonious, holier than thou, exploitative, undignified, pedantic, childish, self-inflicting, insipid, backwards, embarrassing, over-reactive, overreaching" and a "delusional lunatic" - all inside of one 12-minute segment. All of those attributes, of course, are more descriptive of Olby himself.

Chris Matthews, notorious for the thrill Obama sends up his leg, expressed his opinion that "I don't think that it's smart to pick fights with comics." His guest, frequent Palin critic Kathleen Parker, while first saying that Lecherman was "way, way over the top" for attacking Gov. Palin's children, insinuated nevertheless that the governor and first gentleman were using the row with Creepy Dave for political advantage. Parker said that they had responded in "a very sophisticated way," but then went on to essentially say that Sarah Palin was not sophisticated enough to lead the GOP. Ah, the consistency of Mittwit moderates is something to behold. They are almost as consistent as Romney himself. The former governor of Massachusetts, btw, has not rushed to Gov. Palin's defense in the wake of Creepy Dave's attacks, choosing instead to remain silent.

At Race 4 2012, Alex Knepper blogged "This Palin Critic Loves Sarah Palin for Going After David Letterman."

Sebastian Gray, in his Gray Matters column on Hillbuzz, wrote a step by step prescription for taking action against Lecherman. It's what Chad at AOSHQ calls "Going Alinsky on Letterman."

At Protein Wisdom, Ric Locke used the flap over Creepy Dave's lewd and crude remarks to examine the larger issue of "Why is Sarah Palin’s family a target for Leftoid attacks?"

Curt at Flopping Aces blogged right through Lecherman's lame excuse that the older Palin daughter, rather than the middle one, was intended to be the butt of his so-called joke: "Nope, no confusing that one, no matter how much he lies in an attempt to squirm out of this pickle."

Patterico considered NOW's induction of Creepy Dave into its hall of Shame for the attack on Gov. Palin's daughter, and concluded that he might have taken greater offense at the "slutty flight attendant" bit because "at least it’s directed at Palin herself. The problem is, I’ve never seen Palin present herself in a 'slutty' fashion. What did Palin ever do to deserve that remark — other than, of course, to be attractive? Is being an attractive woman somehow offensive to David Letterman?"

Last, and most certainly least, is Andrew Sullivan, no stranger to being obsessively creepy about the Palin children himself. In his constant fit of projection, the nutcase that is Silly Sully called Sarah Palin "a nutcase." How's that correspondence course from the Close Cover Before Striking Skool of Obstetrics working out for you, Andrew?

Recap of Reaction to Mama Bear vs. Creepy Dave

What a week! What follows is by no means a complete account of all the reaction, of course, but there may be a highlight or two you missed:

Ken Kyle, president of the 1,200-member Denver chapter of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA United Airlines is, like the Palins, not amused by Lecherman's slutty humor: "It's objectionable when you put it in light of [flight attendants' heroic actions during] 9/11 and more recently, the professionalism of the US Airways attendants during the emergency landing on the Hudson River."

A man in Austin, TX filed a complaint with the FCC over Creepy Dave's smutty stuff.

Condemnation of Lecherman came from some surprising sources, including Meghan McCain, frequent Palin critic Bonnie Erbe, MSDNC's Nora O'Donnell, AOL's Melinda Henneberger, chronic PDS patients Tennesse Guerilla Women and feminist group NOW.

Vincent Bordini, however, wasn't impressed by NOW's condemnation of Creepy Dave, calling it "almost a year late in defending Sarah Palin, so no kudos for finally catching up to ’sexist right-wing dinosaurs.’"

On the other hand, many of the usual suspects on the left showed that they cared not one whit about the demeaning of young girls. It was much more important to these bottom feeders to use the opportunity for just another in their long series of slams against Sarah Palin. At nutroots site OpEdNews.com, Stephen Crockett tried to make a connection between Creepy Dave's trashing of Gov. Palin's daughter and -- get this -- domestic terrorism: "The Palin-type of extreme political rhetoric from the Republican Right has been feeding a growing domestic terrorist problem in America." Noel Sheppard caught Yahoo's Nikki Boyer attacking Gov. Palin and, to add insult to injury, Carrie Prejean. Professional Sarahphobe Kathleen Parker mused that maybe Gov. Palin invited "the sexual punchline." PMSNBC's Contessa Brewer, in full meltdown mode, became so angered by John Ziegler's defense of Sarah Palin that in exasperation she told the sound engineer to "Cut the mike" (Ziegler's, that is). Ariana Huffington and Donny Deutsch tag-teamed Sarah Palin on MSDNC, claiming that the governor was displaying "manufactured outrage" over Creepy Dave’s sick sex jokes. As you would expect, The Alaska Dispatch defended the sexist comic, as Amanda Coyne, siding with Democrat rag The New Republic, blamed Gov. Palin for not cutting poor old Lecherman some slack. Go figure.

You would think a conservative site like The Patriot Room would be offended by Lecherman's "slutty flight attendant" remark, either in sympathy with Gov. Palin or at least flight attendants. Think again, while I remove all links to that blog from mine. Scott Martin said no harm, no foul and said the outrage over the sexist remarks made by Creepy Dave was "self-righteous indignation." Way to not get it, Scott. Links removed!

Conservatives 4 Palin, of course, does get it and linked to audio from the Dennis Miller Show of Miller and Ann Coulter discussing the cuss that is Lecherman.

Even the semi-official Democrat Party newspaper said the gap-toothed late night talk show host "strayed into dangerous territory when he decided to poke fun at a public figure's child," In the Washington Post, staff writer Paul Gehri asked, "So why can't David Letterman bring himself to apologize?"

Two New York State Assemblymen called for Creepy Dave's sacking by CBS, and a website called Fire David Letterman was started, with a rally planned for Monday in New York.

At Big Hollywood, John Nolte scored "this round" for Sarah Palin.

AOL Politics Daily's Patricia Murphy had an even-handed treatment -- titled "Sarah Palin: Obama Girls Off Limits, Why Aren't Mine?" -- and left it up to her readers to decide.

The Provocateur took issue with a Politico article which implied that Lecherman is a target only for the political right.

The learned and eloquent Victor Davis Hansen slammed Creepy Dave and his apologists, saying that the latter end up "as foolish and creepy as Letterman himself."

Adam Brickley, the prototype for all Palin bloggers, wondered "Why Aren't We Angrier at Letterman Labeling Palin an Anti-Semite?"

At Townhall.com, Michelle Malkin published a "Dear Dave" letter.

In an article at The American Thinker, J. Robert Smith wrote that Lecherman proved that "it's always open season on Sarah Palin and her family."

Collette Moran at Clearly Nebulous made herself crystal clear: "You need to try again, Dave."

At Power Line, John Hinderaker summed Lecherman up in three words: "What a creep."

From Sea To Shining Sea's Russell Wilcox pointed out that this didn't all just start last week: "They have been going after her in every way possible, from a succession of obscene jokes to a never-ending series of ethics complaints filed against her in Alaska and then dismissed."

Even John McCain, who hasn't exactly seized every opportunity to defend his former running mate, seized on this one to speak up for Sarah Palin.

Kyle-Anne Shiver was more than just a bit miffed, characterizing Creepy Dave as "lower than a rodent in the trashiest gutter."

The president of Concerned Women for America, Wendy Wright told FOXNews.com, "There's a saying that out of the heart, the mouth speaks, and Letterman's statement reveals a pretty ugly reflection of who Letterman may be."

RNC Chairman Michael Steele seemed to suggest a boycott of Creepy Dave, saying, ""When Letterman starts making tasteless jokes about kids, it's time to turn the channel."

The New Agenda's Amy Siskind slammed idiotarian Donny Deutsch for blaming the victim and called for "a teachable moment on the sexualization of our teenage daughters."

Daily Mail blogger Don Surber said with Lecherman's sexual fantasies involving young girls and his non-apology, "A new low was hit in America."

HotAirPundit said Creepy Dave "should be forced to apologize just like David Shuster was for Chelsea Clinton."

Catching the New York Times "airbrushing" Lecherman's jokes from its website, Gateway Pundit commented, "Nice to see the state run media covering for one of their own."

On her GretaWire blog, Greta van Susteren wondered, "instead of this lame effort... to cover himself, why doesn't he just courageously say, 'I am sorry?'" Because he's an arrogant left-wing ass, Greta.

Rush Limbaugh pointed out the difference between Creepy Dave and the I-Man: "Imus fell over backwards apologizing... Letterman's comments about Sarah Palin and her daughter were planned. They were written in advance by writers."

The Great One, Mark Levin, opined, "This Letterman is a pathetic liberal joke."

RedState.com, where your humble scribe is a contributor, blasted the dark side and supported the light here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here.

Sarah Palin Calls for Uprising against Creepy Dave

From ABC News:
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called on the public to rise up in opposition over David Letterman's "degrading" jokes about her daughter this week. In a Friday morning television interview on NBC's "Today" show, Gov. Palin said the late-night comedian's remarks are a "sad commentary on where we are as a culture, as a society, to chuckle and laugh through comments such as he had made the other night, I think is quite unfortunate."
That uprising was well underway even before the governor called for it. On the web, sites such as Hillbuzz, Conservatives for Palin, RedState.com, FRee Republic and Texas for Sarah Palin calls had being going out to contact Creepy Dave's sponsors, boycott their goods and services and take a stand for sisters, daughters, neices and graddaughters against the kind of abuse of young girls shamelessly exhibited by David Lecherman and his ilk. The goal is to force the CBS late night talk host to apologize, as the governor said:
"He doesn't have to apologize to me. I would like to see him apologize to young women across the country for contributing to that thread that is throughout our culture that makes it sound like it's ok to talk about young girls that way."

Video: Palin willing to forgive, not forget (Updated)

Asked by CNN's Wolf Blitzer if she was "willing to forgive and forget" CBS late night talk show host David Letterman, Governor Sarah Palin said today that she was always ready to forgive anyone who asks for forgiveness, but:

"It goes beyond, though, David Letterman's crude, sexist, perverted joke about a 14-year-old girl being -- quote/unquote -- knocked up by Alex Rodriguez."
The governor said it was a "weak, convenient excuse" for Letterman to claim his joke was intended to be at the expense of her older daughter Bristol, rather than 14-year-old Willow:
"My 14-year-old was there with me at the game. She was the only [daughter] there with me."
Here is the video of that segment of the interview which will air on The Situation Room this afternoon:

Gov. Palin also told Blitzer that she's not ready to say whether she will run for a second term as governor of Alaska in 2010 or contend for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012:
"What I'm trying to get done for Alaska right now is to get that Alaska gas line built. We need those energy sources flowing through North America. That's what my focus is.
Blitzer followed up by asking her if she had made any private decision about her political future, and the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee replied:
"No decision that I'd want to announce today."
In response to critics of her natural gas pipeline project, Gov. Palin said long-term demand for the clean-burning energy source will be on the upswing:
"By probably 2030, we'll see about a 40 percent increase in demand for natural gas. Domestically, we have the supply. The resources are up there in Alaska, and it's time that we build this infrastructure and flow that very valuable resource into hungry markets throughout the U.S."
Calling critics of the proposed pipeline "short sighted," the governor said the project is "right for our nation’s security and for our environment, for our economy":
"It’s a great venue that we have, a vehicle called AGIA, the Alaska Gas Line Inducement Act, and believe me, Exxon, the largest company in the world, and TransCanada, the best pipeline building company in the world, I’m sure they would not have aligned and committed to building this project had they not crunched the numbers and figured out that for their bottom line."
When the Situation Room host asked her for her opinion on President Obama's performance on the job so far, Gov. Palin said she thinks he is "growing government way too quickly":
"He's digging that hole of debt for our country that we're going to pass on to our children and our grandchildren, expecting them to pay off debt for us. It's a selfish thing that we're doing right now if we think that is OK," she said.
Alaska's governor also said that Obama shold show "more passion" in support of Israel:
"I would certainly like our president to stand very, very strong and bold in his statements about our protection of Israel that so many of us believe in."
Blitzer pressed her on the issue, asking if ahe was suggesting that Obama is not pro-Israel enough. Palin responded:
"I'm sure he is pro-Israel. I would have liked to see more passion in the talk he gave regarding our friends in Israel, our strongest ally, making sure they know that we are here for them. We're going to stand by their side; we're going to help them."
Update: CNN video of the full interview is here, and Andrew Malcolm has the full transcript here.

Palins: 'No intentions' of giving Dave a rating boost

Via Fox News:

Statement from Meghan Stapleton, Palin spokesperson
Today at 8:08am
"The Palins have no intention of providing a ratings boost for David Letterman by appearing on his show. Plus, it would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman."
A major alphabet network late night host, drunk on the arrogance of a freshly-negotiated contract, started a public battle with the Palins that he can't win. A sincere, no excuses apology is his only way out. Give it up, Dave. Apologize. Now.

Major sponsors are already trying to pass the buck to local CBS affiliates. Why? Angry fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and grandparents of young girls are putting pressure on the sponsors, the network and their local CBS stations. It's working.

Update: Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America, a national women's public policy group, called on David Letterman today to formally apologize.

Todd and Sarah are not amused by Creepy Dave

In an e-mailed statement, the parents of 14-year-old Willow Palin have made their feelings known about See-BS "Late Show" host David "Lewd" Letterman's lascivious joke Monday night that during the seventh inning of the Yankees game "her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez."

Alaska's First Gentleman Todd Palin sounds very, very angry:
"Any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old are despicable. Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too."
Creepy Dave should also fear the claws of Mama Bear Sarah Palin:
"Concerning Letterman's comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he'd ever dare make such comments about anyone else's daughter): 'Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands - that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone's daughter, contribute to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.'"
Conservatives for Palin has a list of Letterman's sponsors and See-BS network suits here. FRee Republic has a Letterman sponsors list with contact information posted here. You should contact every last one of them and express your outrage.

The sexualization of young girls by Hollyweirdos and other media scum contributes to the moral decay that is unravelling the fabric of our society, and it places them at greater risk.

It must be stopped now.
