David Forsmark: Frum Freaks Over Imagined Palin Raaaacism

Amazing how Parker, Frum et al resort to leftist clichés and methods
*
David Forsmark catches PDS-afflicted Vichy Republican David Frum in the act of race baiting as the pretend conservative works from his dog eared page of leftist talking points:
So, in a little 59 word post portentously entitled, “Bigger Problems with Sarah Palin’s new book,” David Frum finds racism—yes, racism—in the following statement:
PALIN FROM “AMERICA BY HEART”: “But from what I’ve read, family life at the time of the founding was a lot like family life for Americans today: full of challenges, sure, but also full of simple pleasures.”
I’ll give you boilerplate, banality, throwaway, heartfelt cornpone… but racism? Really? Give up the Frum Forum, David, and get a column on HuffPo. You would have more readers and most importantly, you would be right at home with other PDS sufferers.
FRUM: For the 1 in 6 Americans who were held as slaves in 1790 – often unable to marry legally, and always liable to be sold and separated from spouses or children – family life was quite a lot different at the time of the founding than it is today.

A would-be president should remember that part of the American story too.
Even Frum Forum readers—who are still looking for a right of center reading experience—were put out by this, asking if we had to mention slavery every time we bring up the founders.

“ I don’t say so at all,” Frum protested, “I don’t call for national self-flagellation or self-disparagement.”

Then he proceeded to demand exactly that—or at least for Sarah Palin—for about 600 more words...

Lori Ziganto: WaPo's Cohen Shows his Bias and Racism In Palin Hit Piece

The Smarter Than Us ™ Left doesn’t believe in post-racial anything
*
Lori Ziganto reads leftist stooges like Richard Cohen so you don't have to. At David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog, she slaps down Cohen for going all raaaacist on Gov. Palin:
The Washington Post’s Richard Cohen is the latest to exhibit just how unglued the Left and the media, being concentric circles on a Venn diagram, natch, have become. Newsbusters points out that in the article titled “Attack on Michelle Obama shows Palin’s ignorance of history,” Cohen comes to the inane, and typically leftist, conclusion that Sarah Palin “could not be the president of black America nor of Hispanic America.” Um. Sure, I’m no swanky-pants Washington Post columnist, nor do I even have the vast experience of a community organizer from which to draw, but I’m fairly certain that the presidency isn’t segregated.

Can’t let pesky facts stand in the way of a hit piece, though, can he? How does Cohen form his brilliant – and sure-fire entre into a good cocktail party this weekend – hypothesis? Because Sarah Palin dares to mention the following in her new book:
"In her new book, she reportedly takes Michelle Obama to task for her supposedly infamous remark from the 2008 campaign: 'For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.'"
Huh. Again, I’m no expert, but it seems to me that Michelle Obama actually did say that. So, by “taking her to task,” he of course means smearing with, you know, the truth. Oh, that wing-nutty Palin! Telling the truth and all. That’s so reactionary and old school! I suppose they don’t like that whole “Truth to Power” thing turned around on them. The book snippet to which he refers is as follows:
"Certainly his wife expressed this view when she said during the 2008 campaign that she had never felt proud of her country until her husband started winning elections. In retrospect, I guess this shouldn’t surprise us, since both of them spent almost two decades in the pews of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s church listening to his rants against America and white people."
Cohen isn’t alone in his delusions. The Huffington Post called that passage “racially charged.” Why? Because the Left, in their stompy foot temper tantrums, are letting their true colors show. And they are racist ones. It is the Left who only sees color. It is the Left who paints people into identity politics laden boxes only, in order to further their own end. They use people as a means to that end, with no regard to the harm it causes.

Ms. Ziganto credits Cohen for getting one point right. Sarah Palin couldn’t be president of "Black America" because there is no such country. Cohen and the disgraced John "Two Americas" Edwards do not understand that the USA is one nation. We fought a bloody and costly Civil War to keep it that way. The very idea that we have multiple segregated countries within our country presidencies is, she quite correctly points out is "racist in and of itself." Anyone who preaches such a sick sermon displays a troubling ignorance of American history. But we are not surprised. The left is so busy trying to rewrite history that it has failed to learn it.

Update: Adrienne Ross is also on Cohen's case. Read her post here.

Sarah Palin: 'It is time to end the divisive politics' of race baiting

*
Sarah Palin called for an end to the divisive politics of race baiting in an impassioned appeal on Facebook Tuesday evening:
The Charge of Racism: It’s Time to Bury the Divisive Politics of the Past

I am saddened by the NAACP’s claim that patriotic Americans who stand up for the United States of America’s Constitutional rights are somehow “racists.” The charge that Tea Party Americans judge people by the color of their skin is false, appalling, and is a regressive and diversionary tactic to change the subject at hand.

President Reagan called America’s past racism “a legacy of evil” against which we have seen the long struggle of minority citizens for equal rights. He condemned any sort of racism, as all good and decent people do today. He also called it a “point of pride for all Americans” that as a nation, we have successfully struggled to overcome this evil. Reagan rightly declared that “there is no room for racism, anti-Semitism, or other forms of ethnic and racial hatred in this country,” and he warned that we must never go back to the racism of our past.

His words rang especially true in the immediate aftermath of the 2008 presidential election. It seemed that with the election of our first black president, our country had become a new “post-racial” society. As one writer in the Washington Post stated: “[Barack Obama’s] election isn’t just about a black president. It’s about a new America. The days of confrontational identity politics have come to an end.”

We, as a united people, applauded that sentiment. We were proud of that progress. That’s why it is so sad to see that 18 months later, the NAACP is once again using the divisive language of the past to unfairly accuse the Tea Party movement of harboring “racist elements.”

Having been on the receiving end of a similar spurious charge of racism (in a recent frivolous lawsuit which was finally dismissed by a federal judge), I know how Tea Party Americans feel to be falsely accused. To be unjustly accused of association with what Reagan so aptly called that “legacy of evil” is a traumatizing experience, and one of which the honest, freedom-loving patriots of the Tea Party movement are truly undeserving.

On this subject, I can recommend the statement issued by a man I was proud to endorse, Tim Scott, the GOP candidate from South Carolina’s First Congressional District. Tim, poised to become the first African-American Republican Congressman from the former Confederacy since Reconstruction, is himself a sign of a hopeful, truly post-racial future for our country. It gives added meaning to his warning that “the NAACP is making a grave mistake in stereotyping a diverse group of Americans who care deeply about their country and who contribute their time, energy and resources to make a difference.”

The only purpose of such an unfair accusation of racism is to dissuade good Americans from joining the Tea Party movement or listening to the common sense message of Tea Party Americans who simply want government to abide by our Constitution, live within its means, and not borrow and spend away our children’s futures. Red and yellow, black and white, this message is precious in all our sights. All decent Americans abhor racism. No one wants to be associated with any organization that is in any way racist in sentiment or origin. I certainly don’t want to be. Thankfully, the Tea Party movement is not racist or motivated by racism. It is motivated by love of country and all that is good and honest about our proud and diverse nation.

Like President Reagan, Tea Party Americans believe that “the glory of this land has been its capacity for transcending the moral evils of our past.” Isn’t it time we put aside the divisive politics of the past once and for all and celebrate the fact that neither race nor gender is any longer a barrier to achieving success in America – even in achieving the highest office in the land?

I just spent a few beautiful Alaskan days with some beautiful Americans in my husband’s birthplace – they are Todd’s family and they are Yupik Eskimo. In the decades that our families have blended, I have never heard one proud, patriotic member judge another member based on skin color. Both Todd and I were raised to measure a person according to their capacity and willingness to love, work, forgive, contribute, and show good character. We’re joined by the vast majority of Americans in this belief whereby we measure a man by his character, not his color. Because of amazing efforts and accomplishments by those who came before my generation, it is foreign to us to consider condemning or condoning anyone’s actions based on race or gender. Being with our diverse family in a melting pot that is a Native village just days ago reminded me of that.

So to leave that remote village and return back to “modern civilization” only to hear of the NAACP’s resolution today suggesting that we Tea Party Americans don’t respect equality makes me sad for those who choose to divide these great United States. It is time to end the divisive politics.

Aaron Goldstein: Supporting Palin While White

*
At Intellectual Conservative, Aaron Goldstein writes about the liberal and overwhelmingly white media's maniacal obsession with Sarah Palin and the racial composition of her supporters:
"One of the most amazing aspects of the Sarah Palin phenomenon is the response of the liberal media to the large crowds she draws. This was on display during the election campaign and again during the just concluded Going Rogue book tour. The liberal media goes to tremendous pains to point out that the former Alaska Governor's audiences are primarily white."

[...]

"While attending the Tea Party on the Boston Common last April, I observed those in attendance to be overwhelmingly white. But when an overwhelmingly white crowd on the Boston Common gathered to protest President Obama's decision to send more troops to Afghanistan, I didn't hear anyone complaining about the racial composition of the protesters.5 Nor did I hear the likes of Janeane Garofalo claiming their protest is 'about hating a black man in the White House.'"

"By describing Palin supporters as 'white' the liberal media is seeking to de-legitimize them and in turn de-legitimize Palin. Yet, of course, white conservatives who harbor no ill feelings towards African-Americans or any other minority community don't like being insulted and lumped in with racists. But as long as the liberal media insists on attributing racist motives to whites who have the temerity to support Palin they will simply dig in their heels and strengthen their solidarity with her."
The race-card-playing liberal media, of course, ignore the fact that Gov. Palin has a number of conservatives of African heritage in her corner, including bloggers Adrienne Ross (who also happens to be the New York State organizer and an Executive Board member of the 20912 Draft Sarah Committee), Clifton B and Tyrone, just to name a few.

Goldstein considers it to be of paramount importance to point out the Left's race baiting whenever conservatives see or hear it. He is correct in predicting that we will get more of it from the liberal media. when it comes, Just refer them libs to Adrienne, Clifton or Tyrone. We're confidant that any one of these Palin supporters will be only too happy to tell the leftists just how wrong they are. And Adrienne in particular will have no problem relating the story of the egg man to them.

Update: Hateful leftist readers of the hateful leftist Guardian (rag) hope that a certain black Palin supporter is attacked more often. Link. Brings to mind some old lyrics by Genesis:
"Can you tell me where my country lies?"
said the unifaun to his true love's eyes.
"It lies with me!" cried the Queen of Maybe
- for her merchandise, he traded in his prize.

"Paper late!" cried a voice in the crowd.
"Old man dies!" The note he left was signed 'Old Father Thames'
- it seems he's drowned;
selling england by the pound.

Citizens of Hope & Glory,
Time goes by - it's the 'time of your life'.
Easy now, sit you down.
Chewing through your Wimpey dreams,
they eat without a sound;
digesting england by the pound.
