Say Yes to the Sled

Via TVGuide.com:
With her presidential ambitions behind her — at least for the 2012 race — Sarah Palin is pitching a new reality series that would focus on her husband, Todd Palin, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The project would specifically center on Todd Palin's career as a championship snowmobile racer... Sarah Palin, 47, is pitching the project with Mark Burnett, who also produced her TLC reality series Sarah Palin's Alaska, which aired last year
Discovery Communications, parent company of The Discovery Channel, TLC, and A&E Networks, have passed on the project, so producers are shopping it to other channels.

Team 11 in the lead on final leg of Iron Dog Race (Updated)

Next stop is the finish line
*
The Arctic Cat Team 11 of Todd Palin and Eric Quam is in the lead of the Iron Dog endurance race headed for the finish line in Fairbanks, Alaska:

At 3:31 p.m local time, Palin and Quam were the first racers through Nenana, according to GPS tracker. The two were also first through the checkpoint of Manley, having taken the lead between Tanana and Manley.

Latest tweet from the Iron Dog Race Twitter page:
"Team #11, Palin/Quam are in the lead. Team #10, Huntington/Olds, just check out at Nenana and are 17 minutes behind."
More here and here.

Updates...

1. If GPS tracking is correct, looks like Todd Palin has been stopped for some time now. Either that or his GPS tracking lost contact. It appears that Eric Quam may have turned around and gone back to Todd's location. Prayers for both racers...

2. Video stream has gone live for the finish here.

3. Todd's machine appears to have a broken front ski, but we hear that he and Eric are back on the move. Team 11 has dropped into second place behind Team 10.

4. Huntington/Olds (Team 10) win it. KTUU killed the live feed, but last we heard Palin/Quam were in 2nd.

5. Fairbanks News-Miner wrap-up here.

Sarah Palin: Iron Dogs Roarin’

"This is my only authentic Facebook account..."
*
Gov. Palin posted an Iron Dog update on Facebook late this afternoon. She also used the opportunity to debunk the latest leftist lie about her:
Iron Dogs Roarin’

It’s no secret I’m cheering for Team #11 in this year’s Iron Dog race! Todd and his racing partner Eric Quam are doing very well and helping lead the pack as they'll soon be near the 1000-mile half-way point in Nome. They’ve been breaking trail through three feet of new snow! All these athletes are rugged and tough. Please keep all the racers in your prayers.

On a side note, there’s always buzz about fake Sarah Palin Facebook and Twitter accounts. Please know that this is my only authentic Facebook account and SarahPalinUSA is my only authentic Twitter account. Pay no attention to the fake accounts and their fake messages.

And on Twitter, Gov. Palin retweeted IBD's link to a Herman Cain op-ed:

Todd Palin and Scott Davis drop out of Iron Dog race

*
The team of Todd Palin and Scott Davis have dropped out of the Iron Dog endurance snowmobile race after Davis was injured on the course, ADN reports:
A back injury to Scott Davis of Soldotna, the most experienced driver in the 27th Iron Dog snowmachine race, has forced him and partner Todd Palin to scratch at Puntilla Lake in the Alaska Range.

Iron Dog development director Heidi Griffin said the injury happened about 30 miles past the checkpoint at Rainy Pass on Sunday night, and the two returned to the checkpoint.

She did not know the nature of Davis' injury and expected further updates later Monday.
Warmer temperatures than normal in Alaska have resulted in less than ideal trail conditions, with stretches of dirt where the snow has melted on some stretches of the trail.

Update: Gov. Palin tweeted:
"Rough&tough trail,Team#22 made gallant effort;broken parts have 'em now cheering on rest of IronDoggers still in race!Great job, great sports"
She didn't specify if the broken parts were mechanical, human or both, but the tone of her tweet implies that Scott Davis' injury may not be as bad as some of us had feared.

Sarah Palin really liked Glenn Beck's CPAC speech

*
Sarah Palin tweeted her approval of Glenn Beck's CPAC speech Saturday night:
@GlennBeck hit the nail on the head in his #CPAC speech: USA is the abiding beacon of freedom & we need "less Marx, more Madison"!
Earlier on her Twitter page, the governor sent a tweet which said that the Palin family was getting ready for the Iron Dog race, in which her husband Todd will compete again this year. While the racers were in the garage putting the final tweaks to their machines, Gov. Palin was watching Beck's speech.
