Whittington: Could 'Sarah Palin's Alaska' Get an Emmy?

"One can just imagine the pandemonium that would ensue at the Emmy Awards ceremony..."
*
Mark Whittington notes that Gov. Palin may potentially become an Emmy Award winner for her "Sarah Palin's Alaska" series which aired last year on The Learning Channel. It seems that TLC has entered "Sarah Palin's Alaska" in four categories: cinematography, picture editing, music composition and best reality program, giving her four shots at taking home one of the iconic statuettes:
Just from an artistic quality standard, the show does deserve at least a nomination in these categories. From a Hollywood political standard, one cannot imagine any possibility that Palin's reality series would win anything. If there is one place where she is hated more than the newsrooms of America's lamestream media, it is Hollywood.

Of course, the hatred is not universal. Recently Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, not exactly in Palin's political camp, did stick up for her during the email kerfuffle. One suspects there a few in Hollywood who secretly like the Lady from Wasilla but, adhering to the politics that dare not speak its name in Tinseltown, remains pretty much silent about that fact.

One can just imagine the pandemonium that would ensue at the Emmy Awards ceremony this fall if Palin were to actually win Best Reality Show. It would be as if righty film director John Milius had won something for one of his movies. The rioting inside the hall would liven up an otherwise dull evening as the Mama Grizzly comes up to the stage to accept her award.

Whittington says simply the act of nominating Mama Bear could actually be a savvy PR move for Tinseltown. It would allow Hollywood to claim that it doesn't really hate conservatives. Plus, the buzz created by a nomination or two for SPAlaska would drive the ratings for the awards show into the stratosphere. Will Hollywood's PR addiction win out over its PDS affliction? Stay tuned...

Dana Commandatore: Hollywood silent on Wonkette's Trig attack

Hollywood needs to stick up for more than just the pedophiles
*
In a recent post at Big Hollywood, Dana Commandatore comes down hard on the denizens of Tinsel Town:
Would you rather speak out to defend a baby with Down syndrome or sign a petition to support a pedophile? In some Hollywood circles, the answer is simple, support the pedophile.

Let’s go back to 2009 when Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland. The United States asked for Polanski to be extradited to face trial for his 1977 statutory rape case. Hollywood united and Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, Darren Aronofsky, Terry Gilliam, David Lynch, Jonathan Demme, Tilda Swinton, Wes Anderson, Pedro Almodovar, (I can go on all day) actually took time out of their busy schedules to prepare a petition demanding Roman Polanski’s freedom. But for some reason, no one in Hollywood can take five minutes out of their day to support Sarah Palin’s “right to choose” or condemn the abusive allegations and deplorable insults hurled against her 3-year-old boy’s disability.

While I can understand why so many people want to take down Sarah Palin (actually I can’t understand it, it just seems to be the way people start every negative commentary on Sarah Palin that goes too far) I have no idea why it is acceptable to make fun of disabled babies—or any babies for that matter. Just last week Wonkette, the award winning left-wing satirical waste-of-internet-space website, posted a smear piece on Sarah Palin that sunk to a new low. One of Wonkette’s contributor’s, Jack Stuef, directed his vitriol of Palin toward the most innocent of places. Not only did Stuef insinuate that Todd Palin slept with his daughter Bristol, he took the unique and deplorable approach of making fun of her son with Down syndrome…on his birthday.

This was a great opportunity for many in Hollywood to prove that they care about something other than themselves. Instead, they kept quiet. When people suggest that politicians remove any violent words from their political discourse then can we at least ask our comedians, talk show hosts and pundits to stay away from politician’s children—even if they really, really, really don’t like the politician.

Sultans of Snark: A Big Boo for Hollywood

*
At the Cypress Times, Stacy Drake has a review of Hollywood's recent behavior regarding Sarah Palin:
Last week Governor Palin flew to Los Angeles to film an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and meet with network executives concerning a documentary about Alaska. She even stopped to make a very charitable donation to the Red Cross in an effort to help out earthquake victims in Haiti and Chile. Sounds harmless enough, right?

Everything I just listed that she took part in while in L.A. was trashed and mischaracterized by the Hollywood gossip rags and eventually repeated by the MSM, or LSM, whatever you prefer. The nature of the attacks from the lie spreading, Hollywood “reporters” had a certain tone to them. They all seem to paint Governor Palin, and her “entourage” as though they were some sort of redneck hillbillies. Searching for fame and fortune on “reality shows” before they loot the Silver Spoon of all of those freebies.

To top it off, their usual nemesis, actors, jumped on the band wagon. Repeating the lies (and they of all people should know they were lies) by adding their own snarky half-witted two cents to the mix. It must be their left-wing ideology that allows them to believe that Hollywood gossip-mongers are all of a sudden members of a noble profession. I guess if it’s politically convenient, why not, eh George? I don’t imagine Retracto, the Correction Alpaca has received the proper corrections yet and I’m not holding my breath.

As if Hollywood didn’t quite get the message through to Governor Palin about the depths of their hatred, Kathy Griffin flew into Alaska to make it clear. Griffin boldly made an uninvited house call to Governor Palin’s home (knowing full well that governor wasn’t there at the time) to “invite” the governor to Kathy’s little grotesque, ridicule roadshow. This ridiculous woman used Ricky Hollywood himself, aka the father of Sarah Palin’s grandchild to introduce her on stage in Anchorage. In essence, using the one link she had, via a toddler (again) to attack Governor Palin in her own neck of the woods. Disgraceful to say the least. After hearing what was said on that stage, I’ll go even further and call Kathy Griffin a sexist bigot. Yes, the term can be applied to a woman too. I understand very well that leftists think they are immune to terms like “sexist,” bigot,” and “racist” but if the shoe fits…
Hollywood continues to sink into the LA-LA Land tar pits. Read the full Stacy Drakeop-ed here.

Sarah Palin makes Red Cross donation in Hollywood

*
Andrew Malcolm e-mailed us from the Left Coast to let us know what Sarah Palin has been up to in LA-LA Land. The Liberals, as with everything she does, will not be pleased:
Sarah Palin stopped by the Silver Spoon Oscar Suite with daughter Willow and grandson Tripp.

Benefiting the Red Cross, the swag suite snagged the former vice presidential candidate for photo ops and gifting from beauty and luxury sponsors. At the Interior Illusions store in West Hollywood, Palin received jewels from Pascal Mouawad, watches by Skagen and Unite hair care products.

I'm told the oft-parodied politico donated all of her gift items back to the Silver Spoon for auction, as well as about $1,700 of her own cash, in support of multiple Red Cross efforts, including those in Haiti and Chile.
How dare she! Why, the nerve of That Woman!

Once again, Hollywood jabs Sarah Palin

- By Warner Todd Huston

We've seen it before. Hollywood seems to need to find a way, any way, to jab Governor Palin as much as possible. Case in point we have the soon to be released movie titled "Did You Hear About The Morgans?" starring Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Right in the trailer for this new laugh riot film is a jab at Palin. But it is a typically illogical jab, one that makes no sense at all. But it IS a jab and I guess logic isn't necessary to the good folks in Hollyweird if it results in a jab at Palin.

The premise is that Hugh and Jessica are a married couple from New York that witness a Mafia hit and end up in witness protection in Wyoming. The jab comes in when Parker sees her first woman in a cowboy hat and worriedly says, "Oh my God it's Sarah Palin."

Guffaws all around, eh?

Of course, the whole thing is idiotic. Sarah Palin is not known for cowboy hats. Sarah Palin is not from Wyoming. Sarah Palin is not a south westerner at all. I would suggest that even idiot New Yawkers are aware that Palin is Alaska personified, not Wyoming!

It is also a little incongruous that the movie is portraying Hugh Grant as a married man. I thought all he cared about was prostitutes?

I also have to say that Sarah Jessica Parker is looking very old in this trailer. This woman is not aging well, to be sure.

That's Hollyweird for ya.

Yet another Gratuitous Palin Smear From Hollyweird

Byron York relates this quote from Hollyweird director Ed Roth, whose fake Nazi propaganda film runs in the middle of "Inglourious Basterds":
"I’m in the scene where they watch the movie. So there I am, a Jewish director, sitting with 300 Nazi extras watching this movie and going crazy. They’re in character and acting, but hearing them yell "Heil Hitler!" and "Kill the Jews!" in German, my stomach dropped. I looked at Quentin [director Quentin Tarantino] and said, "What have I done? Did I just start the Fourth Reich? This movie is going to reignite the Nazi party and they’re going to make me their Sarah Palin!"
This gratuitous Palin-smearing has become a campaign. It's just like a leftist hate-monger to play the Nazi card against Sarah Palin. These low-life leftist maggots never miss an opportunity to Alinsky her. God have mercy on their toxic souls.

More gratuitous slaps at Sarah

Just yesterday, we called attention to a NewsBusters.org report about how a Sarah Palin smear was nonchalantly worked into an unrelated discussion on sports by The Nation's Dave Zirin in an appearance on MSNBC’s News Live.

Now another gratuitous Palin slam comes from the left in the form of Hollywood movie dialog. Gateway Pundit has the details. Deranged liberals, not finding a sufficient number of opportunities to attack Sarah Palin, is to find creative ways of working their Palin smears into situations where they are totally uncalled for -- out of left field, one could say.

Does anyone doubt that there's an agenda at work here?

Meanwhile, Bill O'Reilly showed the offending clip on his show's "Reality Check" segment, and his conclusion was, "Sarah Palin remains a rock star." Although O'Reilly has defended Palin in the past, the obvious opportunism of Palin's name being dropped in such a mocking manner seems to have escaped him.
