Gov. Palin: Newt Gingrich ‘would clobber’ Barack Obama in any debate

Says "everybody could learn" from Gingrich. "He's seen it all before."
*

In an appearance "On The Record" tonight, Sarah Palin told host Greta Van Susteren that what she was looking for in tonight's GOP presidential debate was candidates to actually start detailing their plans, not to simply say that they had a plan or that a plan would be forthcoming from their campaigns. She said she "didn't get a lot of that," but praised Herman Cain for at least having a plan which he has presented.

She said that Americans are still looking for a candidate to rise to the top and be the front-runner. The former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate criticized some of the candidates for bickering, comparing their exchanges tonight to what she sometimes hears from her children. She singled out Newt Gingrich, who "again did the best" on substance.

The 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate called on debate moderators to press candidates when they avoid answering the questions that are asked of them. She praised Michelle Bachmann for her answer on foreign aid for Israel and said a format which provides only sixty seconds for answers doesn't allow candidates to detail their positions on issues, citing Rick Perry's difficulty in effectively explain his stance on illegal immigration.

Does Sarah Palin think she can beat President Obama in the 2012 election? Tune in at 10pm/ET to find out!
In November of 2010, ABC's Barbara Walters asked that same question of the former GOP vice presidential candidate, who answered in the affirmative. Now in September of 2012, a recent Marist poll shows her numbers to be much closer to Obama's than was the case last year.

Greta Van Susteren Calls Out Tucker Carlson (Updated)

"I am not going to help Tucker be a pig…he apparently can do it all himself without my help."
*
In a Sunday morning post on her GretaWire blog, Fox News Host Greta Van Susteren calls out her friend Tucker Carlson for publishing at The Daily Caller what she says is "the most vile story" which repeats X-rated remarks made by former boxing champion and convicted rapist Mike Tyson. Van Susteren says her outraged is over more than just smut. "This is violence against women."
Yes, I know the Daily Caller story is repeating what Mike Tyson says and Tyson has been a guest on ON THE RECORD at 10pm but to talk about boxing and his life – not to denigrate women. I won’t even begin to tell you my disappointment in Tyson. Many will say I should have expected that from Tyson – but Tucker? Tucker should have used judgment, a sense of decency and not promoted this denigration - a good journalist, a responsible journalist uses judgment. Tucker did not.

I keep asking myself, why would Tucker allow this to be posted on his website? I am suspicious his website is not doing well and this is one quick last breath to create buzz to keep it afloat. I wish Tucker had not allowed this to be posted on a site associated with his name because Tucker and I have been friends (and even colleagues) for years. I have always liked Tucker and I assume you can tell that when I introduce him and greet him on air.

I don’t like it when I see that my friends do disgraceful things – but we need to start calling out even our friends to stop this. Tucker has daughters and a wife and I would think he in particular would not want to be a purveyor of smut (and this is actually more, this is violence against women) and allow this to be posted on his website. There is nothing funny about violence against women and repeating what a thug says on a radio show is also not news. I know he loves his wife and children and would never want this said or reported about them….so why is it okay to report about another? This is not news.

I emailed Tucker yesterday and asked him about it. He did not reply. I wanted to know what action he was going to take about it since I really did not want to blog about it and felt some urge to protect him. 24 hours have passed and I have not heard from Tucker and it is still on the front page of his website.

So…I am calling him out on this. This is not about whether you are in favor of Governor Palin’s policies or not — this is about whether women should be treated this way and whether this is journalism.

Van Susteren calls for Carlson to remove the article from his website and "fire anyone who used this bad judgment and was part of posting it." This is neither news nor journalism, opines the Fox News host. "It is denigrating women."

Gov. Palin: I've been 'calling out the corruption in government' for 20 years

"Newt was right on talking about the waste," but "some of them don't want to go there."
*

Monday night with Greta Van Susteren "On The Record," Sarah Palin completely exploded the notion, advanced by John Fund and other pundits, that she would endorse Rick Perry for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. Commenting on the CNN/Tea Party Express debate, Gov. Palin praised Rep. Michelle Bachmann on calling Gov. Perry out for crony capitalism over his executive order mandating the Gardasil vaccine for young girls in Texas. Gov. Palin said that among the tens of thousands of her emails released from her time as Alaska's governor, are her instructions to that state's health department that her administration would not mandate such vaccines be given to teenage girls. She pointed to the situation whereby Perry's former chief of staff went to work for pharmaceutical giant Merck, maker of the Gardasil vaccine, which stood to make millions from the Perry mandate, saying, "That's crony capitalism."

The former GOP vice presidential candidate also gave kudos to Newt Gingrich for making a case for eliminating government waste. She said she was "getting a kick out of" watching the candidates bring up the same issues in debates just days after she had talked about them in her speeches. Overall, however, Gov. Palin's verdict was that the candidates performed well, and she restated her opinion than any of them would be a big improvement over President Obama. The night's big winner, in Sarah Palin's opinion, was the Tea Party, which she said received validation from a major news network by virtue of CNN's partnering with the grassroots movement for the debate.

Sarah Palin: Cut, Cap and Balance is 'the right plan'

"It's the spending, stupid."
*

Appearing on Fox News' "On The Record" Tuesday night, Gov. Sarah Palin told host Greta Van Susteren that House Speaker John Boehner didn't have to try to "re-invent any wheel" by drafting new legislation to deal with the nation's debt ceiling because the House of Representatives had already passed the Cut, Cap and Balance Act. Though the Senate voted Friday to table the measure, and it has been pronounced dead by Majority Leader Harry Reid, Gov. Palin said Cut, Cap and Balance is "the right plan," and that Republicans "don't need to retreat now." Indeed, we agree that House Republicans acted responsibly by passing Cut, Cap and Balance, and they should put the onus on Senate Democrats to either reconsider the GOP legislation or to come up with a measure of their own. The ball should be in their court, since the leader of their side in the White House hasn't so much as proposed a budget. Speaking of the president, the first woman to be the vice presidential candidate of the Republican party criticized the president for "scaring the American people" with a mostly manufactured debt ceiling crisis which she said amounted to little more than "Obama drama." She challenged conservatives to insist that Obama submit a real plan of his own.

GretaWire: Governor Sarah Palin ... today (Updated)

"She is not obliged to tell me or my crew where she is going."
*
According to GretaWire, Greta Van Susteren will interview Gov. Palin for Fox News' "On The Record" today. That interview will take place on the One Nation Tour bus as it heads to...
Where is her bus tour going ? You got me. My producer who talked to someone who works with her in order to set up the interview told me last night that he would not tell her. We were told to check their website for any information they are releasing. He said they don’t want the media following them and that includes us. Well…with the intense interest in her by everyone (almost everyone) in the media, that is, I suspect, going to happen. The media will probably be in hot pursuit. I do know where she is this morning since I am meeting up with the bus with our crew. She is not obliged to tell me or my crew where she is going. I guess that is like my contract – I am not obliged to tell Fox where I vacation.

Stay tuned…
