Three Bristol Palin Book Signing Appearances Announced

In Minnesota, Alabama and Arizona
*
With her book, Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far released by William Morrow and now on sale, Bristol Palin will be on the road for several book signing events.

The single mom and motivational speaker will appear at the Mall of America rotunda from 6 to 8 p.m. June 29 in Bloomington, MN, a return to the Twin Cites where her mother accepted the GOP vice presidential nomination during the hurricane-truncated 2008 RNC convention in St. Paul.

Bristol is scheduled for another book signing at the Books-A-Million store in Birmingham, AL's Colonial Brookwood Village July 6 at 7 p.m. The eldest Palin daughter at 20 years old also has an appearance scheduled for signing her new book July 9 at 2:00 PM at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Desert Ridge Marketplace in Phoenix, AZ. All times are local time.

Some of the buzz from bits of her book is covered by the lamestream media here. The Massey brothers talk about their upcoming project with Bristol for the Bio Channel here. It's not nearly as "salacious" as the gossip media is trying to spin it.

Palins pitch in with Samaritan's Purse volunteers in Alabama

Rev. Graham: "I appreciate their willingness to bring hope to people in need.”
*
Palins Bama SP

From Rev. Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse Today Blog, we learn that Todd and Sarah Palin joined other Samaritan’s Purse volunteers Wednesday to assist tornado victims in Birmingham, Alabama:
“I came here to work hard,” Todd said. “There’s no point in being here if you’re not going to work hard.”

After getting a safety briefing and talking with volunteers, the Palins joined a crew assisting homeowner J.L. Price. The couple helped haul off brush and debris, and with the rest of the crew, prayed with Mr. Price.

“It feels great to be working out here,” Sarah said. “I hope more people sign up with Samaritan's Purse so they can be blessed like I am today.”

The Price home took a direct hit from a tornado and sustained extensive damage.

“It’s hard to imagine anyone surviving this,” Todd said. “What a terrifying time it must have been for them. This just really gets you.”

Pitching in to help with Samaritan’s Purse relief efforts is getting to be a regular activity for the Palins. Last year they joined Rev. Graham for two-days in Haiti, and in 2009 Gov. Palin and Graham distributed food to hungry families in Alaskan during an unusually harsh winter.

Samaritan's Purse has a short video posted on Facebook.

Gov. Palin praises familes of special needs children in Alabama

"A good part of America shines through in times like this"
*
Sarah Palin told an Alabama audience Tuesday that the challenges of raising a special needs child takes a particular kind of courage, and that was a lesson that she had to learn firsthand:
Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, mentioned politics, such as the need for energy and financial independence and smaller government, when she addressed a fundraiser for the Exceptional Foundation of Baldwin County.

Much of her speech, however, centered on raising her youngest son, Trig, who has Down syndrome.

The Exceptional Foundation was established to help special needs children and adults in southwest Alabama. Many in the audience Tuesday night in the ballroom of the Marriott Grand Hotel have family members with conditions such as Trig’s.

[...]

Palin said work by groups, such as the Exceptional Foundation, that assist special needs children and adults are a blessing to people such as herself, who need help when faced with a difficult challenge.

[...]

Palin praised efforts to help Alabama communities hit by tornadoes last week.

"In those parts that were touched tragically by these storms and tornadoes, we want these folks to know that they are not alone in this time," she said. "Americans come together in moments like this to help support and rebuild, and a good part of America shines through in times like this."

According to WKRG-TV, Gov. Palin told the audience that she and her husband Todd would be meeting with tornado survivors Wednesday in Birmingham. Turns out she and Todd joined other Samaritan's Purse volunteers assisting the victims of the recent tornadoes which caused so much devastation in the state.

Sarah Palin speaks tonight at Alabama fundraiser

"It looks like we’re going to have a good crowd."
*
Gov. Palin is scheduled to make her fourth speaking appearance in the state of Alabama tonight. The fundraiser for the Exceptional Foundation of Baldwin County is being held at the Marriott Grand Hotel in Point Clear:
The event is the first time that the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate has addressed an audience in the Mobile Bay area, according to organizers.

"We’re looking forward to it," Craig Dahle, one of the Exceptional Foundation organizers said Monday. "It’s going well. We don’t have quite the crowd that we might have hoped for, but it looks like we’re going to have a good crowd."

Tickets for the event are still available, Dahle said. The price of tickets is $600 each. He said tickets can be purchased at the event or by calling 251-990-2271.
The evening event gets underway with a cocktail hour at 6PM local time, followed by a 7:15 PM dinner. Gov. Palin's address should begin at 8PM, followed by a question and answer session.

Tickets for May fundraiser with Sarah Palin now on sale in Alabama

"She is especially well qualified to speak at this event. "
*
Organizers of the May 3 Exceptional Foundation fundraiser featuring Gov. Palin as keynote speaker say that tickets for the event are now on sale, according to a report by Guy Busby in Mobile, Alabama's Press-Register:
Individual tickets for the event at the Marriott Grand Hotel in Point Clear will be $600. Sponsors tables seating 10 people will also be available for $15,000 and $10,000, organizers said. Photo opportunities with Palin will be available for purchasers of sponsors tables.

Money raised by the event will go to the Exceptional Foundation of Baldwin County. The foundation is working to meet the social and recreational needs of mentally and physically challenged individuals in south Alabama. The group’s goal is to provide daily programs for children 5 and older, and adults. Planned activities include arts and crafts, team sports, exercise classes, social events and music.

"We’re really excited that Governor Palin has accepted our invitation to visit Baldwin County," Foundation President Bob Callahan Sr. said. "She is especially well qualified to speak at this event. As a mother herself of a child with Down syndrome, she can readily relate to the foundation’s mission and goals, as well as the exceptional participants and their families. She has stated repeatedly that the special needs individuals are near and dear to her heart."
For ticket information, call the foundation at 251-990-2271. The organization’s status as a nonprofit has been applied for and is pending.

Sarah Palin to visit south Alabama for May fundraiser

Organization benefits those with special needs
*
The Mobile Press-Register's Guy Busby reports that Gov. Palin will speak at a charitable fundraiser in May for The Exceptional Foundation in Alabama's Mobile Bay area:
The foundation is being established to help special needs children and adults in Baldwin County, Bob Callahan Sr., foundation board president, said. Palin, whose son Trig was born with Down syndrome, agreed to speak after being contacted, he said.

"This is something that is near and dear to her heart — children and adults with special needs — and that’s what brought her down here," Callahan said. "We were thrilled. This is something that is really awesome."

[...]

When efforts began to raise money for a building, staffing, activities and other needs, supporters decided to approach Palin about speaking, Craig Dahle, Callahan’s son-in-law and another of the group’s organizers, said.

"She was the logical person to kick start this with her background," Dahle, who has a 19-year-old son with Down syndrome, said.

Palin has spoken at events in Birmingham and Montgomery, but has never made a public appearance in south Alabama, Callahan said.

The event is scheduled for May 3 it the ballroom of the Marriott Grand Hotel in Point Clear. The price of the 600 tickets which should be available and other details for the fundraising dinner are yet to be announced.

Sarah Palin delivers a million dollar fundraising speech in Alabama (Updated)

*
Faulkner University estimates Sarah Palin's appearance before a sell-out crowd of 2,500 in Montgomery's Convention Center Thursday night will raise $1 million for the Christian college's scholarship fund:
A university spokeswoman says the school has been holding fundraisers for more than 40 years and this is the biggest ever. The university did not disclose Palin's speaking fee.

The visit is Palin's third to Alabama in less than a year. She was in Birmingham in November and May. Alabama is an early presidential primary state, but the former Republican vice presidential nominee has not yet disclosed her plans for 2012.
Update: The Montgomery Advertiser's coverage is here.

Sarah Palin: Be glad you can see November from your house!

*
Posting on Facebook Thursday, Gov. Palin talked about her week's activities and asked her followers to support 17 conservative candidates in four states:
Traveling the Country Where We See a New Generation of Leaders Emerging

Had a great visit with Newsmax and the great folks in the Sunshine State yesterday! I spoke to Michael Reagan about his father’s grand legacy and to Dick Morris about not accepting what President Obama wants America to believe is some kind of “new normal” of economic woe. I spoke to concerned Floridians about the energy in the Tea Party movement, and explained that I wrote a lot about it in my book, “America by Heart”; and I had the privilege of being interviewed on Sean Hannity’s show regarding voter turnout favoring conservatives this year.

Florida is fortunate to have great candidates willing to run and serve for all the right reasons. The repeal of the mother-of-all-unfunded mandates, Obamacare, is foremost on the minds of so many concerned Floridians, along with job, jobs, jobs. Thankfully they have candidates bold enough to promise to shake things up, put “We the People” first, and support free market and results-oriented solutions to all these challenges. Please support these great Sunshine State candidates:

Rick Scott for Governor

Pam Bondi for Attorney General

Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate

Steve Southerland (FL-2)

Allen West (FL-22)

Sandy Adams (FL-24)

Today I’m in beautiful, historic, special Alabama! I speak at Faulkner University and am shouting out a big Alabama holler for some great candidates:

Beth Chapman for Secretary of State

Martha Roby (AL-2)

Tonight I’ll be calling into an event for two great candidates in Hawaii:

John Willoughby (HI-2)

Scott Henderson (State House District 7)

The Aloha State is ripe for positive, patriotic change under the leadership of these good Americans with servant’s hearts in our 50th state.

Tomorrow it’s back to Texas for a Woman of Joy conference and talking to Texans about some of their great candidates:

Rick Perry for Governor

Greg Abbott for Attorney General

Bill Flores (TX-17)

Francisco "Quico" Canseco (TX-23)

Dr. Donna Campbell (TX-25)

Blake Farenthold (TX-27)

Stephen Broden (TX-30)

Onward and upward. Be glad you can see November from your house! Real change is just around the corner, America!

- Sarah Palin
We're pleased to see the governor give Bill Flores a shout out. TX-17, where we reside, is carved out of a long corridor of central Texas which extends from the Edwards Plateau all the way down to the Brazos River Valley and includes the cities of Cleburne, Waco, Bryan and College Station. Although the 17th is a overwhelmingly Republican district, it has been represented by only Democrats since its creation in 1919.

Chet Edwards, the incumbent, has held the seat since 2005. Edwards is one of the blue dog Dems who is fighting for his political life, and he's running harder against Speaker Pelosi and President Obama than some Republicans are! But no matter how hard Chet runs from his own party, he can't hide his votes in favor of both the stimulus and financial bailout bills. They are two strikes against him. Nevertheless, he can't be underestimated. At the end of June, Chet was sitting on a $2.1 million campaign chest, while Flores had only raised $415,000. So please follow Gov. Palin's lead and support Bill Flores!

Political Stars Fell on Alabama (Updated)

*
The Ay-Pee reports that Gov. Palin won't be the only political heavyweight on the ground in Bama Thursday. Former presidents George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter are there as well:
Bush will speak Thursday evening at the University of Mobile's annual leadership banquet at the Mobile Convention Center.

On the same day, Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, are being honored by Habitat for Humanity in Birmingham, where he will join workers at a home-building and repair project.
And the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate is in Montgomery to keynote a Faulkner University fundraiser:
University officials say the money raised by Palin's sold-out appearance Thursday night will be used for student scholarships.

The visit is Palin's third to Alabama in less than a year. She was in Birmingham in November and May.
Alabama is Palin-friendly territory. The McCain-Palin ticket carried the state by more than 21 percentage points in the 2008 presidential election.

Gov. Palin returns to Alabama October 7

*
As we reported back in February and again in April, Sarah Palin will deliver the keynote address at Faulkner University's 2010 Annual Benefit Dinner at the Renaissance Hotel and Spa and Convention Center in Montgomery, AL.

The event is set for Oct. 7 at 7 PM local time. Proceeds from the benefit will into a fund for student scholarships. For ticket information, call (334) 386-7257.

The Birmingham News story contains a small error. The visit will actually be Gov. Palin's third to Alabama (not her second, as reported)and her first to Montgomery. She has traveled to Birmingham twice -- a November, 2009 book tour stop, and a fundraiser for Rainbow Omega in May.

It's Primary Day in Alabama, Mississippi and New Mexico

*
Three states were holding primary elections Tuesday:

Alabama

According to The Montgomery Advertiser, Bradley Byrne and Tim James are considered to be the front-runners in the GOP primary race for governor. James has the endorsements of Chuck Heath Sr. and Jr.

Mississippi

Susan Davis, who writes Washington Wire at the Wall Street Journal, says state Sen. Alan Nunnelee is the GOP's top choice in the state's 1st Congressional District race, but Gov. Palin gave a last-minute shout out to Angela McGlowan via Twitter.

New Mexico

The front runner for the GOP nomination for governor, Susana Martinez, has Gov. Palin's endorsement and leads her closest opponent, former state GOP Chairman Allen Weh, by double digits in all the latest polls.

Chuck Heath Sr. & Jr. Endorse Tim James in Alabama

*
News Release from the Tim James campaign:
Sarah Palin’s father and brother, Chuck Heath Sr. and Chuck Heath Jr., have endorsed Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim James for governor of Alabama.

Chuck Heath, Sr. says, “I’m all for him. He’s my kind of guy. I’m very impressed with him.”

Heath met with Tim James earlier in the year at the Rainy Day Patriots’ TEA Party rally on Tax Day, April 15, in the Birmingham area. While there was some political conversation, the majority of the time was spent by the two men talking about their mutual love of hunting and the outdoors.

James said upon hearing the news, “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Heaths earlier this year. Just like Sarah Palin, they are down-to-earth people who love our country, believe in true conservative values, and know the importance of taking care of the natural resources our country has been blessed with. I am thrilled with this endorsement.”

Chuck Heath, Jr. says they think hard and long before endorsing any candidate. “We’re really selective and endorse very few people. We feel really comfortable with Tim James.”

He says they heard a lot about Tim and when the family met him they knew immediately he shared the same true conservative ideas and values. Heath, Jr. added that Tim James “clearly has a passion for hunting and the outdoors.” “Most importantly,” the Heaths say, “Tim James will slash government spending and protect citizens against tax increases.”

Sarah Palin draws crowd of 800 to Rainbow Omega fundraiser

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who has a a son with Down Syndrome, spoke Wednesday night at the biggest fundraising dinner ever for Rainbow Omega, a faith-based Alabama program for developmentally disabled adults. The crowd of about 800 payed $250 and more for tickets to hear the first woman to be the Republican Party's candidate for vice-president. Her address lasted about 40 minutes:
Much of her speech focused on how she and her husband, Todd, learned that their fifth child, Trig, would be born with Down Syndrome and how they came to accept Trig as a “gift from God”.

Palin started her speech by offering thoughts to the people of South Alabama who are facing severe hardship from a massive oil leak gushing into the Gulf of Mexico.

She emphasized that while “shocked and saddened”, she and her husband still believe in domestic drilling.

“We still need to,“ she said, tying the production of domestic oil to security concerns over buying oil from hostile regimes.

“Energy independence gives us more security, creates jobs, and makes people more able to give to charities like this,“ Palin said.

Palin finished her remarks by attacking a favorite target of hers: the country’s new health care reform law.

She called it “unconstitutional” and asserted that it would raise taxes on families with disabled children by capping Flexible Spending Accounts at $2,500.
A representative for Rainbow Omega said that the organization expected to net about a quarter of a million dollars from the fundraiser after expenses.

Sarah Palin criticizes ObamaCare in Alabama speech

*
The Birmingham News reported Wednesday night that Sarah Palin told a crowd in Birmingham, Alabama that ObamaCare will cost the special needs community $13 billion in taxes and could lead to rationing which may deny health care to seniors and the developmentally disabled:
In a speech in support of the Rainbow Omega home for developmentally disabled adults, Palin attacked recent health care reforms as unconstitutional and likely to result in "panels" that will decide who gets care.

"Those with special needs and our elderly citizens are perhaps the ones who will not receive the care that will have to be rationed," she said
The News' Stan Diel wrote that Gov. Palin told her audience that since she knew she would be introduced by syndicated radio funny men Rick & Bubba, she learned some redneck jokes especially for her speech:
"You know you're a redneck if you saved a lot of money by going hunting on your honeymoon," she said. "Todd and I went moose hunting! We did!"
The 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate expressed her sympathy for Alabamans affected by the Deep Horizon oil spill along that state's coastline:
"I'll never forget the day the Exxon Valdez ran aground," she said. "My heart has been full of prayer and concern for those in the southern part of your state.
Prior to delivering her speech, The News reported that the former Alaska governor greeted residents and supporters of Rainbow Omega, the organization which brought her to Birmingham for the fundraiser. The faith-based organization helps adults who have developmental disabilities.

Saturday Morning Sarahcuda Bites for April 17, 2010

*
Louisville Slugger: An after action report on Sarah Palin's grand slam home run speech at last night's Women of Joy Conference can be found at All Sarah All the time.

Saturday night's not all right for fighting: Washington, Illinois law enforcement officers have been preparing for Sarah Palin's appearance at the Five Points "Lessons from Leaders" event:
Washington Police Chief Jim Kuchenbecker has the unenviable task of making sure ticket-holders and the expected protesters co-exist.

Kuchenbecker said he's been contacted by three groups of prospective protesters. One obtained a permit to demonstrate from 5 to 8:30 p.m. in the downtown square. The other groups plan to protest outside Five Points, 360 N. Wilmor Road.

"As long as those who plan to protest at Five Points stay in the public area and don't obstruct traffic or bother people coming to the event, we won't bother them," Kuchenbecker said. "We're not going to trample on their First Amendment rights, but they can't break the law."

All 20 full-time members of the Washington Police Department and 10 of 12 part-time members will work Saturday, including 18 assigned to the Five Points area in the afternoon and evening. Five Points, not Washington taxpayers, will foot the bill for the extra police services.
Here's hoping the town won't have to witness the vile sort of Leftist violence that was shamefully on display in New Orleans last weekend.

Co-Stars Fell on Alabama: Fox affiliate WBRC has a good story about the father and son duo of Chuck Heath Senior and Junior tea partying with Alabamians in the Birmingham suburb of Hoover, AL.

Got Schadenfreude? Washington Post magazine contributing editor Cathy Areu gave a demonstration of why the political left is increasingly being viewed with disgust by independents when she appeared on moonbat-crazy cable network MSNBC:
CATHY AREU: Sarah Palin could do no wrong for so many people. I mean, she is a female Larry the Cable Guy, minus the class and intelligence.
Independents have grown weary of this stuff. They want to hear an explanation of why their friends and family members can't find a job, but all the left wants to do is trash prominent conservatives, Gov. Palin most notably.

And to demonstrate MSNBC's lack of credibility, the network's Peter Alexander claimed Friday afternoon:
"Areu said thanks but no thanks to Fox. Saying she wanted to appear right here on MSNBC. We don't blame her."
Alexander's hubris was short-lived however, as Areu showed up just hours later as Bill O'Reilly's guest on Fox's "The Factor."

Go Canada: The full transcript of Gov. Palin's Charity of Hope speech, as delivered Thursday night in Hamilton, Ont. has been posted on the Web by Canada's newspaper of record, The Globe and Mail.

Sarah Palin, Blogmeister: Frances Martel, in a Mediaite piece which only rates about a 2.3 on the Snark-O-Meter, describes Sarah Palin's Facebook page as "arguably the most newsworthy Facebook page of all time." Martel also says it's "the most influential policy blog in America," but why that is the case remains a "mystery" to her. You really need to get our more, Francis. Spend a week far from madding elites in flyover country, and you might begin to get a clue about why Gov. Palin's message resonates so well with ordinary Americans. Martel also dubs Sarah Palin "the most powerful blogger in America." Hey, looks like we Palin-blogger types are in good company!

Welcome to the party, pal

*
Sarah Palin continues to change hearts and minds. All it took for Ala, who blogs at Blonde Sagacity and has been a holdout on Gov. Palin until now, was a little help from Michele Bachmann:
"I've changed my mind. I don't care if Sarah Palin isn't 100% ideal for me. Maybe that's our problem. Always looking for perfection... The thought of a Palin/Bachmann 2012 ticket... I'm so in."
The guv's speech in New Orleans probably didn't hurt her case with any conservative women who were sitting on the fence, either.

Welcome aboard! Now let's Thatcherize the White House.

Chuck Heath & Son to Tea Party in Alabama

*
Last we heard of Sarah Palin's dad and brother on the campaign trail, they were stumping for Danny Tarkanian in Nevada (see here, here and here). Now the father and son duo are scheduled to appear at an April 15 Tea Party in Alabama:
Chuck Heath and Chuck Heath Jr. are scheduled to appear at the Rainy Day Patriots' Tax Day Tea Party event, which is to run from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Hoover's Veteran's Park. The men's appearance is sponsored by Lee Davis of radio station 101.1 WYDE, the Stan Cooke for U.S. Congress campaign and the Tim James for Governor campaign.
Hoover is the largest suburb of Birmingham.
