Happy Mothers Day!

*
Consider this from the Cardinal Mindszenty Foundation:
The most important person… on earth is a Mother.
She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral.
She need not.
She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral –
A dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby’s body.
The angels have not been blessed with such a grace.
They cannot share in God’s creative miracle to bring new souls to heaven.
Only a human mother can.
Mothers are closer to God the creator than any other creature.
God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation…
What on God’s good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?

Quote of the Day (May 10, 2009)

The Quote of the Day on this Mother's day is from a mom, who knows best about these things:
"When McCain introduced Palin as his running mate she gave a confident speech about breaking the glass ceiling. The confidence came easy. Being a mother, she probably knew if she left her kids in a room long enough with a glass ceiling it would be broken."
This mom is Karen Irwin, a Tacoma News-Tribune editorial writer. Her full editorial, which you can read here, is surprisingly respectful of Gov. Palin. That in and of itself goes against the grain of the drive-by media.
