One cheer for Gov. Schwarzenegger

*
We must admit that we've been hard on California's Governator in the past. Arnold Schwarzenegger has done some foolish things, like the time he tried to mock Sarah Palin on Twitter and got mauled by the Mama Bear for his trouble. He's given us no reason to offer him any kudos. Until now.

Remember all the Democrat grandstanding by State Sen. Leland Yee and gubernatorial candidate/state attorney general Jerry Brown surrounding Gov. Palin’s speech at Cal State Stanislaus in June? Even though the appearance by the 2008 vice presidential candidate turned a tidy profit for the CSUS scholarship fund, Yee and other leftists made a mockery of the principles of contract law, all because they wanted to publicize the amount of her speakers fee for the event. Despite the fact the figure was, under the terms of the contract between the CSUS Foundation and the Washington Speakers Bureau, not to be disclosed, Yee introduced a bill in the California Senate to force private foundations associated with Cal State and UC to open their records, making such privileged contract information subject to public disclosure.

But when Yee's bill reached The Governator's desk for his signature, Schwarzenegger vetoed it instead. His reason? As officials for UC and Cal State correctly argued, some of their largest donors prefer to remain anonymous, and the bill would have a “chilling effect” on fundraising efforts by forcing the names of such donors to be made public. So one cheer for Arnold. He finally got something right as governor of California. Yee, Brown and other San Fran/LA-LA Land leftists did succeed in getting the amount Gov. Palin's CSUS speaking fee publicized. But all that accomplished, despite all the grandstanding and dumpster diving, was call attention to the fact that, after her fee and other expenses were paid, the university cleared a cool $200,000 for its scholarship fund, money that it wouldn't have drawing interest in the bank has she not appeared.

Tuesday Morning Sarahcuda Bites for April 13, 2010

*
Worms at Work: The lying left is still pushing its "Brown snubs Palin" meme, as evidenced by the prevaricating maggots at slime site Gawker. But the truth is out there.

Small World: In the May issue of Reason magazine, James Antle III says Sarah Palin isn’t the only prominent Republican to back Rand Paul over Trey Grayson:
The publisher, flat-tax maven, and former presidential candidate Steve Forbes is a Paul backer. So is former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, whose organization FreedomWorks lists Paul as one of the five most important candidates to support in 2010. Concerned Women for America has endorsed Paul, helping to allay concerns about his social conservatism. Gun Owners of America weighed in on Paul’s behalf as well, though there were never any questions about his opposition to gun control.
Gov. Palin was Alaska co-chair of the of the Steve Forbes presidential campaign in 1999.

Stimulus/Response: It didn't take long after Doug Brady's C4P post yesterday making the case that Sarah Palin is presidential right now for Dan Riehl to put up a slightly dissenting opinion. Conservatives 4 Palin must be living in Riehl's head, rent-free.

Get Yee Behind Me: That cracked-nut lefty State Senator from Com-Francisco is still on a Mission From Marx to mine some publicity off of Gov. Palin's upcoming speech at California State University Stanislaus. By some strange coincidence, he also very publicly filed the papers for reelection less than a month before he launched his crusade against Sarah Palin's speakers contract. Talk about firing up the base debased...

Chris Crass: WaPo political blogger Chris Cillizza appears to be trying to create a "sarcasm" meme around The Arctic Fox. He certainly uses the word, or a derivative of it, often enough in a column gratuitously titled "The Sarcasm of Sarah Palin." Gee, Chris, it's not like Gov. Palin's detractors have ever used any mean ol' sarcasm in their 24/7 Alinsky attacks on her, now is it? Among those detractors, Joshuapundit points out, is POTUS.

Magnificent Obsession: Will someone please tell these people that the 2012 presidential primaries are yet twenty long months away? If we recall correctly, everyone was telling us in 2006 that a Rudy vs. Hillary match was a certainty. Things change.

Political Pistachio: The rising stars in the conservative constellation are... women. Thank you, Mrs. Thatcher, for inspiring all those young girls who are now all grown up.

Guns and Violins: The hysterical left is still pushing this nonsense. Don Surber reminds readers that the prez loves him a good brawl, and we recall how he commanded his troops to get in our faces. Screech!

Yee gods! CA State Senator caught grandstanding

*
Yee gods! A California State Senator has been caught shoplifting grandstanding. Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, demands to know how much Sarah Palin will be paid in speakers fees for her appearance at California State University Stanislaus’ 50th Anniversary Gala on June 25th. This is the kind of thing Yee is known for when he isn't being caught shoplifting or cruising for prostitutes.

Never mind that the standard contract for all events booked through the Washington Speakers Bureau for Gov. Palin prevents disclosure of such fees, Yee is determined not to let such a trivial detail as the terms of a legal contract get in his way to grandstand for all the votes from the Palin-hating, aging hippies who are registered in San Mateo County.

Never mind also that no university money is being spent on the fund raising event or that all proceeds — an anticipated $100,000 to $200,000 — will go into university programs, such as scholarships and chair endowments, according to CSU Stanislaus Foundation president Matt Swanson. Yee knows that Sarah Palin is publicity gold, and by Gaia, he's going to leech some off for himself. Sarah Palin brings out the inner moonbat in leftist Democrats such as Lee, and they can't abide her success.

Stacy Drake has more on this latest leftist attack on Gov. Palin at US for Palin.
