Hot Air's readers continue to prefer Palin

It's not even close
*
Sarah Palin continues to dominate Patrick Ismael's straw polling of Hot Air readers, with well over 7,000 of them casting their votes this month. As these few excerpts of Patrick's extensive graphical representation of the data indicate, no other Republican even comes close:

As always, the numbers are pretty consistent month to month, with the candidate spread widening as people leave the field and votes get reassigned.

These results speak truth to Jonathan Martin's bald-faced Politico lie that Gov. Palin would "have real work to do within the ranks of conservatives to become viable." Keep drinking that Democrat/Media Complex Kool-Aid, Politico, and stay classy!

And Preferred Presidential Candidate
*
Hot Air has tabulated the ballots of over 4,000 readers for its annual HARRY awards, and Gov. Palin was voted Republican of the Year ("It wasn’t particularly close") and also the website's Preferred Presidential Candidate:

And the winner for Best Politician in a Hopefully Leading Role is Sarah Palin, beating Chris Christie handily and in a substantial reversal from the last poll we took at Hot Air on the topic. Paul Ryan, Bobby Jindal, and Mitt Romney round out the list at three, four and five.

C. K. Macleod: DeVore should take one for the team

*
C. K. Macleod, from Hot Air's Green Room:
Chuck DeVore is a solid conservative, very well-qualified to be senator or to hold other important offices or positions, but he doesn’t seem to have a prayer of both overtaking Carly Fiorina and defeating Tom Campbell in the June 8 Republican senate primary. He should drop out and, following Sarah Palin’s lead, endorse Fiorina for the good of the conservative movement, the state, and the nation.

[...]

California conservatives, who, to say the least, used to be a major positive factor in state and national politics, have a reputation gained since after Ronald Reagan’s time, and especially since the ’90s, of preferring ideological purity and self-defeating gestures over success and influence. Chuck DeVore has a chance to show that they’re now capable of mature calculation and team play.

[...]

Currently, Campbell appears to have a solid but not insurmountable plurality lead over Fiorina, with DeVore’s third-place vote more than making up the potential difference.
Macleod says DeVore and his supporters need to put up or shut up. Show us the money and the polling numbers that show he can win the primary and give Boxer a run for her own considerable money in the general. Otherwise, it's to hang 'em up, endorse Fiorina, and stop the liberal Campbell now.

Sarah Palin is right: Ed Morrissey on her optimism

*
At Hot Air, Ed Morrissey comments on Gov. Palin's latest Facebook post:
One of Palin’s strongest contributions to conservative politics has been an almost relentless optimism in the face of tough setbacks. While we need to delve into the difficult mechanics of repeal and highlight the terrible impact ObamaCare will have on the US economy, too much focus on that can be demotivating. We need to not just talk about the Sisyphean struggle, but the possibility of victory and the positive alternatives to the bleak statist future we see at the moment. Few can do that as well as Palin at the national level — which is one of the reasons she has such a strong following on the Right.

I believe she’s right. I believe that conservatives will use this lesson to fight better, fight smarter, and push an agenda of liberty and economic freedom that voters will surge to the polls to support.
